Porcupine catch clean & cook would have made for a good video! They're super cool animals even though they can be problematic. Growing up in CT and going to Vermont, New Hampshire ect have def seen my fair share of them while in the woods.

we really considered the clean and cook but they smell and more importantly we were concerned about parasites. tried to get quills off a road kill quill pig a few years ago and it was split open and crawing with worms. we hadn't plan to hunt them, so i hadnt done enough research. Also we had coolers of deer meat. anyway it's a long winter so maybe we will circle back for a clean and cook.

Have to agree great video! Went to a craft fair some years ago and bought porcupine quill ear rings pretty unique use for quills. Mmm that smelly smell that smells smelly!

quills added to a pile of other future craft projects. sadly i just read that the claws are used to make faux bear claw necklaces for kids. i can see how they look like tiny bear claws, so logged that for future porcupine encounters.

@@Scumbria I don't know enough about fly fishing but I wonder if you could use quills with feather to make fishing rigs

I would of waited a little longer to let the kid approach it they can throw quills at you.
