    no clue why this is so fucking hard, dissent is if you throw an insult at the umpire's way or are derogatory towards them - its so simple. showing frustration at a decision or asking 'how is that a free kick' is not dissent.

      @worker-wf2em Год назад +2

      That’s not the issue mate. It’s the fact that one umpire pays one act of dissent and another let’s a player go berserk. Apparently it’s not a simple as you think, even the umpires don’t know what the hell is going on

      I don't care how the umpires call the game as long as they make it clear with how they pay decisions at the start and stick to it ... I think most umpires are experienced enough to keep the whistle in their pocket for moments like the other night .. oldmate made a poor call that he won't forget about anytime soon ..The dissent rule is clunky but the sentiment behind it is solid.. Players can surely find it within themselves to understand arguing with umpires is not only pointless but it's always been a bad look and now is as good a time as any to begin the process of removing the large pieces of it from the game.. If you have ever watched junior footy and seen some kids abusing umpires it's straight up ugly ✌️

    Dissent dictionary meaning. The holding or expressing of views at variance with those commonly held. So the afl literally have a law that stops you from expressing your view in 2023.
    The fact the afl ever even made a rule around dissent shows how incompetent they are. What a joke.

    I’ve noticed something really strange here with AFL media. They don’t want to go too hard on an opinion, nearly like they might be sacked. But u don’t see that with other sports like NBA or NFL. Do the AFL have some massive control that can allow them to strip your media contract or appearance on a show like this so u can’t have a platform? I’m genuinely curious. Why isn’t there some media person totally destroying the AFL on this obviously ridiculous rule? U can’t say Conglio was dissent but Higgins wasn’t

    Umpires: Don't be passionate about the team you're playing for or the sport and do not question our umpiring decisions because it hurts our feelings! What was that? Dissent! 50 meters!
    It's a joke. Umpires running around with small man syndrome having an impact on a game that they aren't even playing, they need to call it down the middle and put their feelings aside, it's unprofessional.

    Yea this is so frustrating to watch. Has been taken too far. I understand why this was brought in, umpires getting abused at grass roots. However, this is changing our game, players are human beings and not robots and we love seeing some emotion. This makes it less of a spectacle. I don't punt, but punters would be fuming over that. Also giants probably win that game if it wasn't for that.
