Zhiyun FIVERAY V60: MAXIMUM Brightness in a Mini Light

  • In this video I review the Zhiyun FIVERAY V60, a super powerful wand-style light with a ton of versatility. Plus, it just looks sick!
    It's essentially just a bi-color tube light, but it's 3x brighter than the majority of other lights this size, even bright enough to legitimately be used as a key light.
    You also get Max mode, which boosts the output of the Zhiyun FIVERAY V60 to an almost unfathomable 100 watts.
    I think the modifiers included in the combo kit are what makes this thing so special. You get detachable barn doors, a grid to control light spill, and a softbox that produces extremely soft light in a tiny package.
    Watch the full video and let me know how you think the Zhiyun FIVERAY V60 compares to other bi-color tube/wand lights available.

    What do you think, is there a cooler looking light out there? What else reaches 100 watts in this compact of a form factor?!

      @@NewLayer interesting. Is there any other Bi- color only tube lights manufacturer? Zhiun made earlier 60 w square light , why would they make this now , especially without RGB

      @@__-yp5bx I have seen a few over the years, but can't remember off the top of my head because I don't usually care about them much. It is indeed curious that they made this one bi-color only, but if you need RGB the F100 is always there.
      Zhiyun seems to focus on maximizing output in as small a package as they can, so I think they keep it bi-color to make the light as small as possible for people who prioritize that.

    If some company would make a version of this type of light with removable batteries, we might finally be able to fly with these lights in checked bags. I love my Fiveray 100, but it's too long to carry on, and the battery is too big to meet check in standards (at least as far as I know). If one of these tube lights accidentally switched on in checked baggage, I think they'd get hot enough to start a fire or at least start smoldering. And that could really ruin a flight🙂

      To turn the V60 on, you have to quick press, then long press the power button, so there is a bit of added safety there. But, I totally get what you're saying.
      I do love how the Inkee Gold Crow lights have a flight mode to lock them where it's really impossible for them to turn on accidentally.

    Cool lights! How loud are the fans when used at 60W and 100W?

    • @NewLayer
      @NewLayer  8 месяцев назад +2

      At 100% brightness, they take a while to even come on in my home studio, like 15 minutes, and then they're similar to most 60 watt COB lights. At 100W, they get louder. I wouldn't use them for anything sound sensitive in Max mode :)

    why is it the same price as the f100 when it's less powerful and doesn't have rgb color? would you recommend this over the f100?

    • @NewLayer
      @NewLayer  8 месяцев назад +4

      The comparable F100 Combo Kit (with the modifiers) is $299, while the V60 Combo Kit is $249, so there is a $50 difference.
      Although the F100 is "more powerful", the wattage is split across red, green, blue, white, and tungsten LEDs. The V60 only has white and tungsten, so 60 watts spread across only 2 sets of LEDs will be very close in brightness. The V60 is only 1/3 dimmer than the F100. In MAX mode, it will actually exceed the white light output of the F100.
      It's also smaller and lighter, and the diffusion on the V60 is more opaque. Overall, the differences are somewhat subtle, so it just depends on your priorities.
      Hope that helps!

    These zyhune lights suck, the controls are horrible and my f100 died after 5 months and it costs me $300 of shipping to have it fixed by zyhune

    • @NewLayer
      @NewLayer  8 месяцев назад

      Haha, harsh words, but I can understand the frustration. I hate when things are under warranty but shipping isn't covered by the company, so that's definitely valid. Where did you ship from/to that it cost so much?!
      I've personally had around 5-6 Zhiyun lights, some for a short while, others since their inception, and none have had issues. I agree the dial on the F100 lights could definitely be improved, which I think the V60 does. It has a totally different, and better performing control scheme.

      @@NewLayer I had to ship from Ottawa Canada, Canada Post quoted me $280.
      Also I wish these lights worked with their app, generally tube lights are put in harder to reach locations, and no app Control sucks, I already had a love hate relationship with the light before it broke.
