North Yorkshire Noctilucent Clouds - 17 to 18 June 2024

There was a good display of noctilucent clouds visible from 17-18 June 2024 from North Yorkshire. They were visible on the European webcams so I thought there would be a good chance of seeing them in the UK. The display was quite faint and low for a while, as well as being blocked by low-level cloud. It really got going after around 1am though. In the later stages of the display, many wave-like forms were visible, including at the bright left side of the display. The movement was absolutely mesmerising, looking like water flowing over a cliff. As the sky brightened with the approaching dawn, the display gradually changed into a 'mountain' form. It looked like a surreal blue-white mountain rising out of the morning mist. Quite an extraordinary sight and one of the most striking noctilucent cloud formations I've ever seen.
