Indeed. Sometimes the answer is closer than we think. If we are alone, it means one of two things: other civilisations exist/existed but can't reach us for a reason, or we are about to die out, because limited intelligence can only bring you so far, especially now that we have 'porn, Instagram models (men and women) of lighter intelligence, who are now considered a'perfect mate' by all men which means that dumb people obssessed with 'perfect Looks' are mating with other dumb people who are obssessed with the gym, plastic surgery, taking selfies etc but cannot find time to use their brain in reality and this causes a reverse in Darwin's theory of evolution, where the most 'intelligent and fittest' survive. Reminds me of the film 'Idiocracy'.In 5000 years it will only be plastic people left who will have to 'flex their abs' at climate change, new viruses and unknown bacterial infections, and threats from 'space'. my ideas and theories: 1: Aliens are not yet capable of traveling distances long enough to get to planet to planet fast enough. 2: there may be some factor that makes life much much rarer than we thought, rendering us one or the only species left 3: something happened that wiped out all the other aliens 4: most other advanced species killed themselves before they could develop enough high tech rockets to take them from place to place 5: we are in an alien zoo or we are prisoners of aliens 6: We are one of the first beings ( not my idea ) 7: Aliens are ready, unpredictable, and fast on their way.

Scary to think that life may depend on a civilization that watched reality TV, films people in trouble instead of helping, pushes strangers in front of subways, and can pretty much turn anything into a political argument. It's doomed..🌏💥
Nice description, but there is no mention of a possibility of the presence of a creator who created us for a reason. It is the simple, most logical, and most comforting idea
This is basically covered by simulation theory. But it’s not logical at all. First it infinitely spirals into the “who created the creator” issue and we’re back to square one in terms of the big questions. It’s also illogical because of the unimaginably vast expanse of empty space, which makes no sense if we are actually the only thing that matters. A creator isn’t necessarily comforting either. If they do exist, it’s quite apparent that they’re indifferent at best, to the extent that their actions are completely indistinguishable from random chaos and cold causality
@@LAK_770 I believe there is a creator and he was created by a creator and he was created by a creator and there’s no end or no beginning. That’s a hard concert for some people to wrap their brains around.
I personally think this paradox fails to take into account how impossibly large the universe is. On Earth we have planes and jets capable of traveling hundreds of MPH , satellites mapping the entire Earth and billions of people , however if I were to hide a marble at a random location on Earth there's a good chance nobody would be able to find it.
Regardless how large the universe is, the chance for life to arise on other planet (abiogenesis) is very very very small. Even in a perfectly habitable planet like earth, every single organism shares only ONE common ancestor.
Even IF there is life elsewhere, it'd take forever to know it. Light itself from distant stars takes millions of years to reach us here. An alien civilization trying to travel here would take vastly greater time. Add in that space itself is expanding further extending the distance. Probability says it's likely that other life is out there, but we'll just never know it.
OP didn't ever say wormholes. NASA proposed a ship that warps the fabric of space as it moves and uses the wave it creates to move in a way previously inconceivable. It would technically be a shortcut
@@user-it2kq4ty9q I dunno about that I feel as if every environment that can support life will eventually have a hyper intelligent species such as humans
It doesn't matter if there are or are not aliens what matters is for us to not have weapons and not start wars,to settle our affairs here on Earth before we can think of colonizing "other" world's!
Actually I only find it terrifying that we are alone, how in the hell is it EQUALLY terrifying that we are not alone as opposed to alone? I can understand someone finding us not being alone as terrifying but EQUALLY terrifying? Not even close this quote is overrated
The thought of being the only 'intelligent' species in the Universe might scare you, but maybe think of it like this: If it turns out we are all alone as mankind, you are one of the lucky few who actually gets to experience life in the most advanced way yet.
How is that even possible though? There's 200 billion to possibly 2 trillion galaxies in the universe. You would think mere probability would dictate that there's at least a few forms of intelligent life outside of our own supercluster even. Are the odds of intelligent life just that scarce that even out of 2 trillion galaxies there's only one planet with this type of life?
@@AltairEgo1 But what if the odds of any life existing was so small that only one planet got it. Humans assume that because they exist others must but it’s possible that we are the luckiest things ever. Unlikely but possible.
No, no, it isn't one in the UNIVERSE, but it might be one in the OBSERVABLE universe. The universe is probably infinite in size, and if so, the only question would be what is the DISTANCE to the nearest one. If it's 100 light years, they're probably going to make contact soon. If it's a trillion, it's nothing one needs to be concerned with, they might as well not exist.
such a cool new art style that I feel gives off the channels vibes way more! as a fan from 2016 this reminds me a lot of the pre 2020 art style and I hope to see more of it ❤
Stuff like this usually freaks me out but the final statement after the universe vanishing into oblivion is what makes it all worth it and meaningful in the end. It's too beautiful, someone has to experience it. We are here right now and get to experience it. whether or no nothingness lies ahead. We were lucky to be here during its beauty.
It’s crazy to think that people have worked so hard and have put so much effort into things for it all to one day be destroyed. It makes me really sad because, that impact that someone made on the world in the end won’t matter because one day it will all just be obliterated.
This video made me think about death and the concept of “rebirth”, I always think that if there’s such a thing as being reborn in another body with no memory of your last, what would it be like if I was an alien in another galaxy, would I be thinking this exact thought?
@@ThatBasedGuy the good aliens want to see us evolve by ourselves without their help, and the bad aliens are just controlling society all over the world and eating our souls,,,
Imagine us actually making contact with alien life on a far away world that responds to a message of ours, it then sends one back, and we finally decipher the message only to read "Be quiet or it will hear you"
Yeah and them being told things like "We have found a few distinct planets that scientists say COULD very well support life. But it is too far away to tell for sure just yet." Then they point at earth in the galaxy and show a visual representation of what they think earth looks like.
I love your quote. We barely understand what intelligence is. There are intelligent species on our planet but in our arrogance we deem them below us. Only few scientists are attempting to communicate with intelligent earth species. Maybe those alien species have the same attitude toward us as we have towards mice.
Maybe there is someone of type 10 civilization who has made us as a scientific experiment in another universe and had let us grow to become a level 3 civilization as his school project Edit:Thank you for so many likes
There is a possibility that since the universe is “young” in a certain sense and that the earth has existed for a third of it, we could be the “ancient aliens” that will be found millions or billions of years later
That’s highly likely. Human kind is a lot like a prototype as well. We’re an advanced species but we’re incapable of handling our own intelligence. It seems like we’re one of evolution’s failed trails and once earth dies life will just try again
Probably not. The universe is expanding apart. We are constantly becoming further away from everything. Long distance life transport (the distance of solar systems and galaxies) will likely never exist in this universe. Sorry thinkers.
I've always known about the Fermi Paradoxi, but learning that this question was asked while they were working on atomic weapons really recontextualizes it, especially when you take the Great Filter into account. Just hits hard.
If you're scuba diving above a coral reef, and you know that there should be fish all around you, but you don't see any, it's most likely that they have learned that for some reason it's important not to be seen. And since you're a new comer to this environment, chances are it's not you they're hiding from.
The fourth possibility, a common scientific trope was not mentioned. That there could be multiple advanced civilizations that all interact and specifically avoid being noticed by civilizations not advanced to a level that is approved for interaction. Protect the child type of scenario.
That's actually incredibly unlikely. It may not be apparent from how little it's talked about in media, but we have a pretty good understanding of physics and are watching the sky 24/7 with the most advanced technology available. To put this into perspective, we're able to detect the trace elements of a planet's atmosphere and crust based on the shadow it casts when it passes a star. For any civilization to operate on an intergalactic scale without us noticing requires them not leaving any detectable thumbprint on any known physics. This requires them not having ships that radiate any waste heat, not having any dyson spheres, not communicating with anything on the EM spectrum, and more recently, not having any effect on space-time(so no worm-holes, no FTL, and no artificial or anti-gravity). A civilization like that wouldn't be operating on physics, they'd be operating on magic from our perspective. A youtuber called Isaac Arthur goes into far more detail on to why this is very unlikely in his Fermi Paradox series. I'd highly recommend checking him out, he has an actual background in physics and will go over each specific point and the math behind it.
I don’t know man, but every time I download a game thinking, “I’m one of the 1st people starting out”. There is always someone who has been playing since the beta release and is already level 99.
The CIA may know more about it than me, but seems to me that humans are probably way ahead of most or all Aliens not because 2000 years were so great, but because "evolution" happened alot sooner than anyone understands. Seems that perhaps the arc of the covenant wasn't a big box ,maybe it was a space ship, or maybe the ship was Noah's Arc and the covenant was just a doorway like "stargate". But life is probably out there , maybe the world should quit fighting each other and prepare for the fight that may want to make us extinct.
@badfoody based his idea from what is going on in todays world. 😁 I understand you bruh..humans really are violent but lets hope that we could go pass through it and start to unite for a better world without violence and injustices.
Think about this.... ‘saying that there are no aliens in the universe is like saying there is no fish in the ocean, whilst looking at a glass full of water taken from the beach.’
@@bigsidrealprisontalk9173 This man made an analogy about the fraction of the space we know using a fraction of the ocean as an example. That's really far from being the dumbest comment.
EXACTLY...I think Fermi hit the nail on the head as proof that we are CREATED beings "in HIS image and likeness" exactly like that book that everyone is embarrassed to talk about tells us. If WE ARE IT in this vast universe of 10 to the power of millions then anybody with a brain MUST accept this as absoubte proof that somebody special created this most special creation. That means that EVERY star, planet, sun, cloud, speck of dust, element, tree, animal, blade of grass, grain of sand etc. has been created FOR us. Ponder that for a while !!
There's a great fiction book called "The Humans" by Matt Haig that begins with the premise that there are other life forms monitoring humanity to make sure we don't discover certain things about the universe. It's a really wonderful read if you're ever feeling like "why am I here?" or that humanity is terrible. But it also highlights that alien races may not even want to contact us because we're just not ready. Also, I feel like people's notions of "other life" in the universe is so biased by what happens on Earth. We assume there isn't life on other planets because they don't have the conditions that we were forged in. There could be countless other possibilities that we couldn't even dream of because we just don't have the ability to comprehend them. All knowledge that we have is subjective to human discovery, i.e. if we haven't discovered it it doesn't "exist", so there are probably beings already out there that we don't even know how to look for.
I say this all the time...were looking for intelligent life like us.. has to be in the goldilocks zone... but we already know diffrent life forms can survive in the most crazy situations like extreme heat or cold....humans are looking for life that can advance us as a civilization...as opposed to other types of intelligent life forms.. for instants take dolphins and octopus. Both extreamly smart animals and can manipulate their environments and have feelings but because they cant advance us they arent as intelligent....do u get what iam saying?.
While you are correct that we don't know everything, we do understand many of the physical limtations of our observable universe. For example, you ever wonder why we die of old age? Some biologists are researching the idea that we COULD physically live longer, but our bodies could be evolved to die younger, as to preserve resources for the next generation. Physics tells us we can't have unlimited resources, so as a result, we've evolved in such a way that we don't use up those resources to quickly and ensure our survival. I suspect that all biological beings have that same limitation, with chemistry not allowing for a carbon-based life form to live outside of the "Goldilocks Zone".
@@JITCompilation you say that 'we have evolved to not use up those resources too quickly' but incase you haven't noticed that is exactly what is happening and the world is freaking out about it.
@@benjaminread5287 Evolution occurs during the process of natural selection, spanning generations upon generations. A bird that gains a mutation to have a heightened sense of sight will be able to more easily avoid predators and find prey sooner than its unevolved counterparts. Humans don't have any natural predators; none that pose any threat to us as a species at least. Concepts like natural selection and evolution don't apply to humans anymore, at least not between humans since we've gained supremacy over other species with our ability to make tools. Nor do I think it SHOULD apply to us, as that would be endorsing the deaths of millions.
This video sounds shows our self-centered nature very well. We are special..... we are first....... it sounds like the guy who picked the pussy in a gang-bang.
@@disphockunguy9731 Not really... technically we could have already discovered planets with life on them and just not fully know it. Because part of that lack of empirical data is technological. Think about it... say we found a planet a thousand light years away that was very Earth-like... now say in the last 100 years it has become a planet of megacities that have completely changed the landscape of the planet, but 1,000 years ago, they hadn't even discovered electricity yet? What would the planet look like when observed from Earth? Figure out the answer to that question and you'll understand real quick why we haven't made much progress on this topic. And that's not taking into account that we can't even achieve clear visuals at that distance.
I also wonder if other life forms could be so drastically different from us that we wouldn't even recognize them as being alive. And that they are already here.
It’s a scary feeling for some reason...like the feeling I get the moment you zone out randomly into this state of self realization and your existence in a first person point of view.. you want it to end but it doesn’t.

"Shouldn't the universe be teeming with spaceships?" Perhaps it is. We barely see 2 exoplanets with a telescope as 2 specs of light, how in the hell are we supposed to see a single starship? Its like looking 10 km away at night and saying there are no mosquitos there.
I was thinking that as well. Our observational astronomy ability is really still in its infancy. We have come a long way, but there's so much more out there. We're still trying to accurately detect all the asteroids in our planetary neighborhood and that is proving incredibly difficult.
I think there definitely are spaceships.. Its imo a pretty easy bet.. The universe is so big only a fool would believe theres no other more advanced civilization out there.. Just look how far we as people got in a relatively short time-span.. The recently declassified information on UFOs didnt help this logic much either.. From what they ve been seeing, to me at least it seems like some kinds of automatic drones.. If they truly exist, what many people even airforce pilots claim they do as they see it often and have no idea what it is, my guess would be its simply something like scout drones, and those surely had to be deployed by a space ship, which might actually still be somewhere in our system.. All of this sounds like some crazy sci-fi, but the actual fact is that many of those things that seem like a sci-fi to us are actually scientifically possible, we are just not there at those levels yet, and might never be.. If those things hypothetically truly are of "alien" nature, my best bet on those things would be they are like some kind of up-close data gathering drones, and if those "aliens" are somewhere out there hiding in our system I would even bet they can initiate some semi-manual control of those drones to go and have fun with our airforce.. Some of those stories pilots have would explain that.. But there is also this question.. Why would they do these things.. Well if you try to think as this highly advanced being, I think you would want mostly these imo top 2 most important things: Information and a knowledge if those beings are of any threat to you.. I think they realized that we are no threat to them a long time ago, so why are they still here you might wonder, and imo the answer would be to a) make sure we dont become a threat even if they had to be here for a billion years and b) gather all the possible information you can about this planet.. Imo the most actually important thing this planet has is the life on it.. Everything and anything that is of a biological nature can have a high value as this is an actual real natural evolution of beings.. I imagine something like that might be hard to replicate even for these advanced "aliens".. It is possible they are making these discoveries in the name of science and I am pretty sure there is no end-point when to comes to science and biology.. I think you could experiment with these things forever and that might be my guess why you might not want to ever leave a planet on which you found any form of life, and might want to observe it indefinitely because you never know when you gather that small piece of data that is missing for the next big revolutionary breakthru in science or biology

Even if life were to exist on other planets, there's no guarantee they'd evolved into an intelligent species what more a space travelling one
Even IF there is life elsewhere, it'd take forever to know it. Light itself from distant stars takes millions of years to reach us here. An alien civilization trying to travel here would take vastly greater time. Add in that space itself is expanding further extending the distance. Probability says it's likely that other life is out there, but we'll just never know it.
a better analogy would be if the marble was instead a tiny speaker, that gets louder over time.
they sized it down to the milky way because of just how complicated and uncertain it would be to take EVERYTHING into account

No, no, it isn't one in the UNIVERSE, but it might be one in the OBSERVABLE universe. @letslaugh2gether4 like in The Humans by Matt Haig !
*W O K E*

Ponder that for a while !!

and ma boys
hello my friend.
what about trees, ants, spiders, fish, and baccteria?
@Pickle Rick hi im not enjoy yourself
Seven billion just counting humans, there are many more of lost creatures here
There's a great fiction book called "The Humans" by Matt Haig that begins with the premise that there are other life forms monitoring humanity to make sure we don't discover certain things about the universe.
Thank you for the book recommendation! It sounds really good. Also, I do agree with you.
Concepts like natural selection and evolution don't apply to humans anymore, at least not between humans since we've gained supremacy over other species with our ability to make tools. Nor do I think it SHOULD apply to us, as that would be endorsing the deaths of millions.
The thought of being alone in the universe is WAY more strange/creepy then having alien life forms out there.
Lonely
@Aletak 13 the thought of not being alone in the universe is not scary at all.
@@skyvader1238 Both are equally comforting and terrifying, it might be better for us to live in ignorance.
U know the universe will stop existing so that’s more creepy
The whole end of the clip is creepy, unless you’re a person of religious conviction.
Never expected a kurtgezagt video when searching for the fermi paradox, amazing surprise!
Meanwhile in Mars..
Aliens: The Human Paradox - Where are all the Humans?
Actually they would be whatever specie they are and we'd be the aliens
Indian Space Research Organisation and National Aeronautics Space Agency are gonna find these aliens. They'll think some alien race is invading them
😂
And they would be like-
I SAW HUMAN ON MOON !!
(DURING THE Appolo 11 thing)
Humans ? how would they know to call us that ? , more like we'd be Aliens to them also
Funny... how many other planets watching their version of this video about us.
FAT JAXSON yup
Omg I didn't think of it that way 😅😂

“Are we the only living things in the universe?”
Literally every other organism on Earth: “sup.”
It's like the other girls paradox
Underrated comment, lol
other animals on Earth: HELO
This video sounds shows our self-centered nature very well. We are special..... we are first....... it sounds like the guy who picked the pussy in a gang-bang.
I think he uses we for all life on Earth not just humans.
Statistically, we're not the only planet with life. Empirically, we are.
And that should show the bias amongst the establish science community
Statistically, all or some of the distant stars we can observe perhaps no longer exist - what we are seeing is light they shone years ago...
Soka
Nah, they've been here for millenia. Holding one's chin up too high blocks the view of what's right under your nose.
I also wonder if other life forms could be so drastically different from us that we wouldn't even recognize them as being alive. And that they are already here.

I somehow feel alone when thinking about space.
Ev me too
That’s normal considering how infinitely massive it is.
We’re not alone. I promise
Even if we don’t find other alien life, we still have each other
It’s a scary feeling for some reason...like the feeling I get the moment you zone out randomly into this state of self realization and your existence in a first person point of view.. you want it to end but it doesn’t.

"Shouldn't the universe be teeming with spaceships?"
Perhaps it is.
We're still trying to accurately detect all the asteroids in our planetary neighborhood and that is proving incredibly difficult.
good point man
Plus the fact that not all alien life may even be sapient or intelligent, yet alone be in a super advanced space age.
@@NotEvenDeathCanSaveU I find this quote fitting for what don’t know who it’s is from but I heard it somewhere “technology of the future would seem like magic to us”
Imagine if there would be a time where saying “aww my mom wants us to move to a different planet for better opportunity” is common 💀
Have you ever tried to speak to an ant? You could try as hard as you can use every bit of technology we have - we can currently travel into space but still can't talk to ants... my point is there's a great chance we just are so far behind we aren't getting the signal
Love this comment
And/or they are obeying the Prime Directive but actually we can communicate with ants crudely, using pheromones and chemical scents.
Or we are currently the most advanced species to exist and the rest are currently like ants to us…
