to me it gives a more raw tone which in my opinion sounds just as good

bass is the lowkey glue that holds these songs together and connects the guitars with the drums. This is a perfect example of that.

The sound feels empty without bass :|
So I was thinking about trying to learn either the guitar or the bass guitar and I searched for videos without bass and their comparison with bass. I found this one, and my guesses were right; bass is truly an important instrument to make music sound more vivid. My dad said that bass was useless and of course, I disagreed with him. He knows a bit of music so I obviously wasn't expecting him to say that. Anyways I'm still having a really hard time choosing between those two instruments. Besides from the standart differences, I also want you to note that I played the violin from age 7 to 9, and I am now 14, although I sometimes refresh my abilities with the instrument. I would love to play in a band. Guitar is maybe very over-played so the bass is a much safer path. Not many people recognize bassist though, and a lot of bands us MIDI bass. I can answer your question and at least help me decide because I like both instruments with very little no to preference whatsoever. Thank you
Me personally, I chose bass and got good at it, and got a guitar a year or two later. Don't regret my chpice

3 weeks ago, I asked my dad to teach me bass. Now, I might be in a band with some friends. We need a guitarist and a singer though. (We have a drummer and a pianist already)

This is so weird. It's like my brain knows there should be a bass and expecting it to be present but there's nothing. Song still sounds good but you can obviously tell something's not right. I think most of Nirvana's songs are held together by the bass. On In Utero it's harder to hear the bass imo but still very vital
