As much as I loved this song from the beginning, the intro always felt awkward to me. It's incredibly beautiful yet ominous, a choir synonymous with Zanza himself leading the orchestra setting the perfect mood for an epic fight. There was just one thing that bugged me. As beautiful as it was, it did not feel like a battle theme, unlike the following masterpiece. I liked it, but then I played the game. I thought it was a weird way to start a fight, but then I realized that part of the song only plays in a cutscene, and my like turned into a love as my previous complaints were rendered invalid. I still don't love it as much as the rest of the song. Seriously, I started dancing in my seat the moment I first heard 0:40. That incredibly intense guitar solo was catchy enough, but then to have that drum line come in in the most epic way possible, followed by a beautiful piano melody sounding weirdly oriental. This combination of Asian sounding piano with rock hidden underneath blew me away and it still does. I've never heard anything like it, and that's just the beginning. I was not expecting it to get better, but it miraculously did. That choir returning with an even catchier melody, over a piano popping in and out of the background and a hard rock bassline driving the song along made for an incredibly interesting combination. These instruments were not something I expected, but I should've known Xenoblade would make it work. I don't even feel I need to elaborate, the song speaks for itself. What else do I have to say that hasn't already been said? It's beautiful, intense, catchy, unique, epic, and one of the best final boss themes most have ever heard out of a video game.
That asian sound is called pentatonic.. or otherwise known as playing on all black keys. You can recreate it with white keys but essentially there's no leading tone.. meaning it can go allllll over the place and be erratic while maintaining a sense of control. It's fucking AWESOME.
The flutes have Zanza's wing patterns on them. Also, there's that giant dude who says, "It's a wild ride, this 'Passage of Fate'". Noah's sword is also a silver Monado encased in red, and lots of talk of a 'real enemy' and a man who is apparently turning people into his 'food'.
YES FINALLY PEOPLE WHO HAVE ACTUALLY PLAYED THE GAME!!! Wii or 3DS? Either one is good imo because its an import- i think its cool how people new to the series are getting to play definitive edition, but they will never be able to fully respect the origins........ Xenoblade is my favorite game to this day. I have so much respect for Xenoblade Chronicles and its 3D counterpart, when i first played through it i felt like my eyes were opened, i had never felt such magic in a gaming experience- the story and the characters- it was like i could feel it... i will probably never love a game like how love Xenoblade. I hope you guys get me
Is there anybody else who prefers this version over the new one in "Definative Edition"? Perhaps it's bias talking, given how this is one of my favorite final boss themes of all time, but I just don't find myself that impressed with the supposedly "updated" version. Not going to call the new version bad, but I'd just rather stick with the original song.
I heard the remastered version first, so coming to this one felt really off at first. Got used to it over time though, I think this version is far punchier and that distorted riff when the guitar starts is my jam. The piano is a little funky with how it fades in and out but it adds to the charm I think.
I like to think this theme is more representative of Zanza himself, while the DE version is more representative of Shulk and co fighting Zanza. This one is more mystical while DE's version is more clear-sounding and "epic". Because of Godsibb, I prefer the DE version more, but I'm just glad we have two soundtracks to appreciate for what they are.

Can't help but wonder if Zanza will make an appearance in Xenoblade 3 in some form...would be a nice nod to the past~
Well... yes and no
YES FINALLY PEOPLE WHO HAVE ACTUALLY PLAYED THE GAME!!! I hope you guys get me
This ost help me a lot to focus in class but each time i ended with an eargasm
It's hard to find a badass final boss theme like this one in RPGs
I love X and 2 but damn 1 is just much more superior
this song it's aweosme
0:40 I really hate how the DE version excluded that delay effect on the guitars. It lost that "Oh, shit is getting real" feeling
Thanks Zanza for the great childhood
Wut?
@@gerragotheallidile spoilers for XC2, if you haven’t played yet
Technically, The architect is Shulk
Prior to this point i think nothing will suprise me anymore . As the game had so many amazing battles/boss theme the this play ,totally blow my mind
The monado is better than the master sword because the monado is the final boss.
Yeah lol
Fi would be an interesting final boss
Before Megalovania, there was this, and before this was Brainiac Maniac (PvZ), all great themes of their time
Finally some one mentiones how good brainiac maniac is thank you bro!!!
The best final boss themes! Also, before Brainiac Maniac there was Big Arms and The Doomsday Zone from Sonic 3!
This is the single most epic boss theme in a video game ever
"A god should not long for steak"
I am Monado. I was here from the beginning, and I will proclaim the end.
I like how this game pulls a FF7 and makes the final boss OST to be the only song with voiced lyrics. It makes it all the more powerfull
???? Engage the enemy, tragic decision some area themes.

THE FUTURE SHOULD BE DECIDED BY EACH AND EVERY PERSON IN THE WORLD
The future doesn't belong to you
can't wait to hear the remaster of this
Behold, the true form of a united world!
@LoneRanger 2420 they changed the key and some of the instrumentation
I heard the remastered version first, so coming to this one felt really off at first. Got used to it over time though, I think this version is far punchier and that distorted riff when the guitar starts is my jam. The piano is a little funky with how it fades in and out but it adds to the charm I think.
I like to think this theme is more representative of Zanza himself, while the DE version is more representative of Shulk and co fighting Zanza. This one is more mystical while DE's version is more clear-sounding and "epic".
Because of Godsibb, I prefer the DE version more, but I'm just glad we have two soundtracks to appreciate for what they are.
oh hell yes brother this one is way better it gives me the chills every time

Just hearing this makes me feel like a bad-ass!
Finally beated that boss !
On wii version, I could not pass Dickson (was bad at that time)
And now, Shulk, Dunban and Sharla just pulverised this usurper, this false idol !
1 Million views we did it
And I also beat this game Zanza was so fucking hard that I died 13 fucking times and just figured it all out and crazy part is I never used any gems to beat the game
It’s between this and Fight to the Finish from Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky as the best final boss theme of all time
All the pmd final bosses are amazing, Super Mystery Dungeon's is as good as Dialga imo
