JJK is poorly written imo. The whole concept is cool but you come to question a few things. Isn’t Yuji supposed to be the main character? Where is his improvement? He should’ve been given a cursed technique from the beginning maybe one that seemed useless by wasn’t. Gojo the “sensei” character is madara Uchiha lvl of powerful from that start which makes it even more difficult for the main character to seem like he’s growing. Then Sukuna apparently no one born in the last 1000 years can hold a candle to this dude.
There's a lot of mcguffins in the series but it's still enjoyable to watch with great animation and fight scenes. More beat em up fun that Shonen fans love, myself included
Dude I know this will sound otakuish, but i would be doing you a real deservice if I didnt tell maybe give it another chance😅? And not because i want you too agree even. I think you actually like and can appreciate good shounen anime. How much would you say you know about about JJK? Because some of what you've said is kinda objectively false because the plot point that it builds to has been furthur or completely resolved. Ofcourse its understandable if you haven't dived in and got the actual plot points. Yuji has growth, Gojo humbled by a guy with 0 cursed energy nor curse technique before he even met Yuji so he is very much not Madara. He's very strong, but and he can tricked, faked out etc. Yuji has techniques and signature jujutsu moves (like Naruto's ninjutsu or Ichigo's named attacks). But also there's a very big REASON it seems Yuji has know cursed technique. If you dont like it thats entirely fair, but its definitely well written. Yuji even has that a "seemigly useless" technique that he masters to great effect), Divergent Fist. Its deemed a sign of his failure and inability to control his cursed energy, but after quite sometime he found out how to make it work brilliantly for him and it came in clutch at a pivotal point. If you don't care or don't like it, sure more power to you. But you sound like youre familiar with and like Shounen anime. If you do you WILL be blown away. In fact i dont know anyone who has watched a significant amount of season 2 that wasn't dragged it the shows depths. And if you could see some of what is happening to Yuji now, you'd see even those seeming shortcomings were perfect set up. For example your question about Yuji's main character state is very valid, I felt the same, but Gege made him deviate from the most recognisable protagonist tropes. TLDR: JJK 6 months ago was an anime i didnt even think was as good as demon slayer, certainly not anywhere near Hunter x Hunter or any other classic. I even forgot about it after season 1. I wasnt aware of when s2 premiered and I wasnt looking forward to it, i found it a nice season release that that I can enjoy when im update with the actual good stuff. Now I kid you not, in my 18 years of watching anime, there is only one I put definetly above JJK. Season 2 is truly a master piece , not just of anime but of straight up digital creation and art. And dont take my word for it. Check all the reviewers who at least reasonable and you will find similar sentiment, maybe not as far as intense as mine, but still very high acclaim.
