He defeated pragnananda and gukesh and alireza firouzja 3-0 consecutive
He's in great shape
And let's not forget that in 2022 he got 3rd place in 2022 world rapid chess championship.
Gukesh is in the same position. Near perfect in classical lately, but pretty bad in shorter formats. There looks to be profress being made though. Hopefully it continues!

Why don't Fabi, Nepo & Hikaru buy out Liren with permission from FIDE?
Each of the 3 pays 333,333 USD, and then they have a playoff where winner faces Gukesh.

Fabi & Nepo were about to bet 1m USD on 15+0 with Hans & Nodirbek, so surely 333,333 isn't a problem.
I'll tell you a secret: For 2023, Liren bought out Magnus for 0 USD.
Fabi has always been good in fast time formats. He lost to Carlsen, because Carlsen is the best at fast time formats aside from maybe Hikaru, not because he's bad. He was always one of the best blitz players, he just isn't as good at it as he is in classical, relatively, but he can beat anyone.

Tough loss for my Guy Gukesh Fabiano seems to be on a winning spree leading this tournament Gukesh played well just came up a bit short I’ve heard Gukesh say he focuses more on classical since he has the championship coming up vs Ding I hope he does focus on the faster time formats when he has opportunity

He did not play better than Hikaru in Norway Chess or the Candidates. This is rapid, where I will say he is doing better than Hikaru
@@blindteammates4922 just in general he definitely performed the best in 2023 and let's see about 2024 but tie for second in candidates and doing good in every tournament and sometimes winning them I really see him being the best. But not just that, he's very humble and respectful and I think everybody would be good with him being WCC. He's also the third highest ever rated player and the only one stated by Magnus that could par him in his literal prime.
@@tristan7720 we’ve seen that Fabi is far from his prime now. Magnus had to specify Prime Fabi because now Fabi is in no form to challenge Magnus in ANYTHING.

Lot of guys here saying Fabi should have been in a WC. Fabi plays excellent rapid games compared to Gukesh time control abilities. In classical its different story. Fabi had his chances in candidates and he lost ... take a rest.

@@michaelmassaro4375 or maybe he just isn’t skilled at all in blitz and rapid? His rankings are awful in both of those categories, and regardless of him playing in the championship or not, he’s always been weak in those modes

Gukesh needs to improve tremendously in faster time controls
For right now, he should just focus on Classical.
He got a tiebreak at top position while hiding his real prep for the championship. This means he is in great form while ding is not. There is no point in breaking it right now by going for faster time controls.
These two + Wei Yi are my favorate players. Gukesh is possibly the strongest among the three in classical games, but for some reason he tends to mess up in rapid games.

As strong as Gukesh is, it feels like Stockfish when Ding is playing in full form.
