The issue I am having with the Reloop Mixon 8 Pro

- This is a replacement controller that has the same issues I was having with the original one. The app works fine with other controllers and mixers. I also have had the same thing happen when using the app on my MacBook Pro with a different song file. My only experience with Reloop has been with turntables until now. The turntables are great but this controller isn't a good fit for me. Random stopping and losing control of the platters is a deal breaker for me.

I had a similar issue with my 1st Mixon 8. I too returned mine for another unit. The shipper tested it before shipping. When I got it it started doing other odd things and I was gonna send it back and give up on it all together. BUT...I took my time and did all the firmware updates turned everything off. And then, in sequence, turned on my iPad pro 1st loaded DJ AI, then turned on the Mixon 8. I also waited 5 minutes before I did anything just to make sure everything was playing friendly with each other. After all that this thong is playing like a beast and I only use the turn on sequence to be safe, no 5 minute wait anymore. I apologize for the long statement but I'm enjoying this console so much I'd hate for you or anyone else to not be able to experience this controller in its full power. I hope this helps. Man, glad I found this video. I'm trying to decide between the Reloop 8 and the Rane 1. Neither one are my 1st choice but I want to be able to use it with DJ Pro and they have such limited hardware support. I already had certain feelings about the Reloop 8 but this definitely doesn't make me want to order one.
I was in the same situation. The Mixon 8 was not my first choice. I really wanted the Rev-5 but it's not natively supported in DJay yet.
@@logisticalstyles I ended up ordering the Rane One last night after I watched this video. That was the final straw for my decision. It'll be here Monday so can't wait to check it out.

Alright sir... here is the last Hail Mary if you want; I felt the same way initially and I got the Mixon Pro, and having alot of challenges, so I put it on the shelf after the excitement of first buying it. But I made sure to update my iPad to 17.3 (check me, but the newest one), after again making sure the firmware was updated, in addition to updating to the newest version of Djay Pro AI, and that was the trick. Restarted everything and that worked. I may be too late, but I get it, I was pretty frustrated at first as well, but when I did those steps; everything worked.

Thanks for the advice. I'm going to play with it a few more days while I am still within the return window to see if it gets better after checking for any other available updates.
I needed to re add firmware 2 or 3 times.
Keep us updated, I was about to purchase a used unit at guitar center.
Had similar issues - they were resolved after the firmware and software updates.
I was having the same issue. After watching your video, I was starting to open a support call with reloop, but reading the comments below, and knowing Reloop support would ask what firmware version I was running, I updated the firmware from v4735 to v5039. Seems to have corrected the issue. I'll add a comment if I run into any problems, but seems to be solid now.
Sad to report, the issue still exists. The right still deck randomly stops and starts.

Hello good evening to you, my friend I was just talking with American Music and I was telling him about my problem with the jog. He said to press the vinyl button. I tried that and so far it’s working for me. Since we both have the same controller, I wanted to share this with you. Maybe it’ll work for you as well. Good luck…

I had an issue last night at a party. left deck wouldn't play my next track in Serato (MacBook Pro), I had my iPad hooked up too and switched to Djay pro (iPad Pro). It played one song and did the same thing. I switched back to Serato (MacBook Pro) and it was fine again for the rest of the night. I think my firmware is up to date but I will reload the latest and keep checking.

Imagine how all this sounds to someone like myself that just brought 1 of these updated its firmwares and never had any issues. Im shocked. Having said that when we updated to the all new version 5.0 of Djay in December 23, I do remember a few people reporting problems on facebook etc, and since then we’ve had some updates on Djay that have squashed those bugs. But hopefully you get this sorted out before the return window shuts because you obviously want this to work otherwise you probably wouldn’t have brought it right?
I notice that the more advanced all these controllers get is the more problems that may happen too, I got put off buying a Pioneer RX3 because of all the problems with them freezing in standalone mode. But what I’ve come to realise is that, most customers end up being happy with what ever controllers they choose, but you will always get bad batches.

Yeah, I had really high hopes for that controller but after getting a second unit that had the same issues, I decided to get a refund while I was still able to do so and ended up buying a Denon LC 6000 to use with my Rane Seventy. That seems to be the best combination for me.
I found out to be the program for the I pad some times glitches the firmware on the controller
Thats a bummer :(. I'm curious if it acts the same in Serato if not it could have to do with updates on both systems regarding djay pro. I highly doubt it but have you tried it while running Djay in hardware mode, theres also a toggle for some sort of scratch feature that makes it play nice with the transition feature/external gear, i doubt it would fix the issue but maybe...
I'll be testing it with Serato this evening. I always use Hardware mode in Djay if I have a controller or mixer connected. I just wish I could figure out why it stops working randomly.

That’s what I really want but the screens won’t work with DJay Pro. Hopefully Algoriddim can make it natively compatible.
I've been dissappointed with how algoriddim making it difficult to make software work effortlessly and the library trx between devices and softwares. They are so close yet so far.@@logisticalstyles

Strange one ? I’ve had the Mixon 8 for several months and use on iPad. All updated firmware and latest iOS. Never had a problem, it’s a great controller and software. I think you’ve just been unlucky….
Yeah, it happens sometimes. Both units came from the same website, so it is possible that they got a bad batch.
Do you experience the same issue with djay on a Mac or with using serato?
Yes, it happened on the Mac with DJay Pro as well. Haven't tried Serato yet.

I've never seen it until just now. It looks very interesting.
The last one I had where the jog displays didn't work would also play intermittently when I held my finger on the jog. It would stop, then play a beat or two after a few seconds, stop again, then play a few beats again after a few seconds. It should not play when your finger is on the jog. Does yours do this too? I'm still waiting on my replacement.
When I made this video the deck would stop if I tapped the platter and then sometimes if I left it alone it would start playing again.Sometimes it would take a minute to start playing other times it would take several minutes before it started playing again. Sometimes I can hold the song with my hand on the jog wheel, and it would start playing. Very annoying.
It's very frustrating. I have another one on the way that is supposed to be here tomorrow. I hope it is better.
Were you able to get this resolved? I just got my replacement today and it is acting exactly like yours on the right deck. Complete malfunction. Press play, nothing happens, then all of the sudden it plays. Jog wheel acts 100% unreliabily. It may or may not respond.
Is this still an issue for you? It seems to me that the jog pad is "catching", it is sending a signal that you are touching it despite you having let go. That would explain why the green Play button is lit but no sound plays: if you put you hand on the jog pad, it's supposed to "stop" playing.
I see that on Reloop's Mixon 8 site FAQ there's mention of the Jog Wheels having an auto-calibration mode when turning on the unit, making it essential to not touch the Jog Wheels during the power-on process. Have you tried this?
I ended up returning the second unit that had the same issues.
Do you think you might have to switch over to Pioneer?
Of the Rev 5 is ever fully supported then I will. For now it’s going to be my Rev 1 or my Rane Seventy.
Update software..I had same issue but all was fixed when I updated software

Yes, that was the first thing I did when I took it out the box. Both units were updated.

Wow, that's interesting. I have a Rev1 and it doesn't do that. I've only experienced it with the Mixon 8 so far.
@@logisticalstyles maybe the common issue there is the touch sensor not working properly or covered by dust did you tried to open it up and clean it?
@@logisticalstyles or maybe its on the firmware on the board try reseting it or update the available firmware for it.

When I tested the first unit with Serato on my Surface Pro, it didn't have that problem, but I only briefly tested it with Serato to see if it would work.

if this was your first dance.. you'd have to plug that ipad direct into the stage mixer with whatever adapter you need. and just hit play with VLC or some other basic music app.. . did Apple do away with the 1/8" headphone jack?? that could be another level of fuckery on the spot ... 😎
Yeah, iPads don't have headphone jacks anymore. The USB-C adapter that I use has a headphone jack built in though. That's what I use when I do ceremonies with DJay Pro.
that's called the gerbil switch - you have to load the song every 2 seconds to keep you on your toes. 😂 who cares if you bash a device if it sucks it sucks. it looks like a toy from my perspective and the quality of REloop isn't great out the box very flimsy company that just copies other manufacturers cuts corners ect... Why do you even want to use such a small device? I thought you had a Rane 70???
Yeah, I still have the Seventy. I use controllers sometimes because they are easier to transport compared to the Seventy and my turntables. I think I will have to just suck it up and rely on my Seventy and turntables because using controllers always seems to require a compromise to my style of DJing.
That's my one of my biggest issues with this controller. It looks like a kids toy and for the price, I don't think it should.
