Years ago, my husband and I would pack up our cast iron skillets, charcoal, potatoes, onions, coating mixture, and some saved bacon grease and head for a favorite fishing location. We would fish for bluegill and do a catch, clean, and cook right there on the bank. Sometimes we would wade and walk the river for bass or pike as well. Those were my favorite times! When I watch your fishing videos, they take me back to years gone by. My husband passed in 1989 and I haven't done anything like it since. Thank you Daniel for making me feel like I'm right there in the boat with you guys. I love how you have instilled in the boys the catch and release. Too many people don't and waste the fish. There will never be big bass or bluegill if you don't let them have the chance to grow up. Don't feel bad, I've lost my share of lures in brush piles and lilly pads too, but that's where the fish like to hide. I hope you feel better Houston! Love you all bunches!!❤❤

I fry them in a pan then put a egg on top of it and scramble together it is what Grandpa taught me he learnt it from France !!!

I caught and cleaned 73 big bluegill off beds in our lake. Came back the next day " not fishing" and a whole new group of big males came up on the beds. Won't take anymore bull gills off the lake. I always release the females with eggs. Have a great time on the pond. Been doing this for 30 years and still have huge gills. Don't ever take out all the big males....genetics matter. Give em "heck" guys. Love the videos!!!!
Bluegill are the best tasting fish ever. As a kid I would go before sun up to a big farm pond and catch huge bluegill. Take them home and Dad would help me clean them and fry them for breakfast. I had a great childhood. Country freedom.

That was a nice trip to the pond on the mini-pontoon. That left handed filet knife works well. Bluegills are hard to beat when done on the grill. I hope Houston gets to feeling better.

Bluegill are my favorite fish to catch and eat. A lot of folks don't like them because of how boney they are, but my dad taught me how to dress them to get rid of the ribcage. Cut the head off then cut behind the cloaca all the way up to the back bone and finally cut along the back bone, removing the entire ribcage. You aren't losing very much meat. You're making them safer to eat because all the little lose bones are gone.

That’s what we call a perfectly cooked tortilla. My sister-in-law and I love our tortillas cooked crispy. Only I would cook both sides of the tortilla the first side for a bit and flip to the other side till crisp! Js

I fished with my dad on shore and out of a small boat. Trout fishing using night crawlers I had pulled out of the yard the night before. Fun memories for me, and definitely will be for Houston.😊
Years ago I was crappie fishing and I caught a bluegill the size of dinner plate. Largest one I've ever seen. In a private pond. It had huge hybrid crappie and he was as big as any of them
