I don't see him as a winger to be fair. He's more like a replacement for Smith-Rowe in my eyes. Watched him on the under-17 tournament and his vision and creativity are insane. For me more of a CAM than a winger material
I hear you that he may get 'more' game time, but I don't think he'll get much... and when he does come on he's most likely going to be instructed to 'keep it simple', therefore slightly hindering his development. You’re a real one James. Great vid! It will be interesting to see what Arteta does with several of the young players we have next season, does Mikel think that Nwaneri is better than Reiss Nelson (or ESR/Vieira) today? It’s both an exciting and risky path, if we get rid of for example Reiss and ESR and don’t really replace them and then Saka/GJ gets injured this could really be Nwaneri’s season just like when Saka broke into the first team. Maybe a loan like Chelsea did with our ex-player Omari Hutchinson could be the way to go for Nwaneri but which ambitious Championship team would want to rely that much on a 17-year old? Very interesting summer and beginning of the season for Ethan and I’m here for it.
James I think Ethan will be playing with the 1st team so I think he could be the left 8 the issue will be if he connects well with left side (Martinelli)
He could be a great option off the bench in for odegaard. You can rest odegaard and let Saka drop deeper and provide more creativity and let nwarneri be that goal scoring threat. Or he can even come on for Saka
I think he’s very talented, but if he’s not going to be a part of the first team next season then we need to prioritise getting him a good loan move so that he can continue to develop
I know it’s off topic and that 24 hours later you probably don’t read comments. I looked at open play goals and I advise you to double check. But if I’m wrong I’m very close. 22 of the 56 goals were during the first 7 matches of 2024. That’s alarming. That means 34 in the remaining 31 matches.
This could be why Arsenal are OK with moving ESR on... Obviously he still wants to leave after talks (which devastates me) and nwaneri coming through in the next year or two seems an inevitability, so how do you retain squad space for both, given ESR's current status in the squad?
I would let him go out on loan for a season to a newly promoted club or a high end championship team that he will get plenty of starts at... I don't want to see him sitting on the bench all season because our squad is so strong. Give him a year or two then he can have a better shot at cracking the 1st team
Nwaneri is versatile, he can play down the central, deeper and also higher up, also confident on that Saka and Martinelli role, although he does lack that Doku pace to be a considered a unique profile on that role. In a way he's very similar to Fabio Vieira, with more energy and power. If he were to breakthrough next season, he should play cover for Saka and gradually playing more central.
I watched him against France. He's a mix between Ødegaard and Saka, he's got Saka's left foot but Ødegaard's dribbling. Not a winger but probably more like a Palmer type midfielder where he likes to drift to the right and support his right winger.
Probably not because I cant see Arteta promote him in first team and give him quality opportunities. So far he didnt give any meaningful chance to any academy players not even bench players like Fred of ESR. 1000+ is extreme when we already have good players in his position. 500 minutes is enough for his age/level which is also similar minutes to last season ESR (474) and F Vieira (560)
Arteta needs to use him this year. The kid is talented. He has composure. He's not like Viera in that he is aggressive and can win the ball. If he's not used, will end up losing him.

Nwaneri is a bigger talent than Odegaard,he is a cesc/ozil level talent.
Have to create a pathway.
We will dominate all in 2 years with MLS/Rice/Nwaneri midfield.
I think will take smith Rowe place in squad
Send him Germany for a season or 2
Lewis skelly
Jesus should be sold he shouldn't even be mentioned in this conversation
Better than Messi
Sell ESR(Ik it’s sad) and promote Nwaneri to be on the bench
