I’m considering getting this kit because if you ask me, the shoulder upgrade is an ABSOLUTE necessary upgrade
If you have Ss38 already and don’t mind it you can use those shoulders on ss102. It looks a little uglier, but it’s significantly less expensive if you already have Ss38.
@@MassterF yeah but the problem is he can’t transform with those shoulders
@@MassterF I tried with the Nemesis KO, painting them and everything, but apparently the shoulder mushroom pegs aren’t the same size. They flex uncontrollably so unfortunately that’s not the best solution

Completely agree! The shoulders are a game changer!
They (sort of) fixed one of my big issues with this figure: he now has proper shoulders! Also, I have complained a lot about the hip articulation, even though it's not as bad as I once thought.
The shoulders are so much better!
I think GoBetter's kit did his truck mode a bit more justice but the accessories that come with the DNA kit, along with the shoulder fix are an absolute must-have
Mostly his foot, completely justified as reference like in film accurate. Go better studio are better

I'm not sure which one to get between the two, I've looked at some reviews for the Go-Bettter hit and they say it has really tight tolerances, along with pieces snapping upon applying them.

Honestly the fact that you actually put figures through the pose test in order to make them look as cool as they possibly can is why you are my favorite Transformers reviewer on RUclips. Everyone else just has the figures static and does the normal transformation stuff and then ends the video but you actually try to highlight just how awesome these figures can be!

That is cool but I prefer to keep it as non-glowing blade. Same for the axe. I would like DNA didn't paint tip of the both axes and leave one of them unpainted. I don't have the axe that comes with Primal yet but I have this kit.
This jut really does wonders for Prime, he's just overall much better now! Looking forward to it's release.
Man those shoulders are looking soooooo much better than the original ones! And the new accessories too, it's so good. To the point where i was actually waiting for an upgrade kit to release before i got him. Buuuuut now im gonna have to find that SS 102 Optimus now, somehow lol
Ever since seeing images of this upgrade set, I’ve been waiting for someone to review it. And after watching the review, I’m definitely getting this set. So, when I do get the SS/BB ROTB Optimus Prime, I’ll be installing this set.

It's kinda sad that the upgrade kit doesn't hide his leg joints completely in his vehicle form, because if they would have achieve that, it could have been a 10/10 SS figure. I'm not saying that it's as bad as before the upgrade kit, but the problem is still there kinda. But in case of this figure, I don't think any upgrade kit would have helped, unless Hasbro decides to redesign him in the future.
I am hoping that the upcoming KO completely re-engineers the leg design!

I just got this guy for Christmas and I had to pay scalper prices now im gonna have to get this and pay more to make my prime look perfect XD but with or without the upgrade kit this thing brings me so much joy and whenever i handle this guy and play with him my depression goes away so he literally lights my darkest hour PUN INTENDED thanks for the awesome review prime vs prime

Wow, Optimus Prime got his Dual Energon Blades.
Noah didn't roll out into battle with the Autobots and the Maximals. He used his jetpack to help give Prime a speed boost when they were running away from the collapsing space bridge.

Besides the feet. The upgrade kits look pretty seamless. Maybe you could look into trying the Floor polish to stiffen the toe joint. Weapons look pretty great.

Except the shoulders, smokestacks, and feet, i would want this kit. The most important parts for me are the leg slot and peg, cannond and blades. But im pretty satisfies with the base fig, so rn i mostly want yp scourge
Just got mine in the mail so excited to redo the shoulders and 2 screws will not come out so ll1 screw out of either shoulder but other 2 won't come out not stripped am stuck with normal shoulders for now till i can figure out how to get them out 😢
This is a solid kit I can't wait to get. I totally agree with the cannons though, the armor should be correct for left and right.

@@DiegoA-bv2gj i personally love it but i already had 102 if you don't have 102 i say get the baiwei.
Just got mine and my only issues are the arms are too tight on the mushroom pegs while the new shoulder hinge is too loose, and when i use the trailer adapter it seems like its too small and only fits by putting the legs at an angle, so i may need to do some modifications
I plan on trying out “Frankenstein-ing” this SS102 ROTB prime using this kit and the Go Better Studios upgrade kit, mainly to cover the exposed back area of the cab in truck mode. Hopefully there’s a way to do so, If I can get my hands on the Go Better Studios kit of course.

The fact that Hasbro limited this to target was the worse decision ever. My order was cancelled by target and it was such a shame
Mine was cancelled threw target more than once and yet the day it was scheduled to release Hasbro out of the blue restocked at the end of July and I managed to order him

I dont have the figure but i do have a question about his truck bed. If you keep the old feet, could you transform them normally instead of using those fold out tabs on the shin pieces. That way, you get the clean truck bed without the new feet dangling out the back
Unfortunately not now because the shins don’t pop up any more for the transformation. They would just be left stocking upwards 😭
I get the point for playability but I wish that DNA removed the 5mm handles from the blades and just went with the smaller post so they sit more flush on Prime's arms.
Besides that I love how the truck bed is cleaner. The feet hanging iut back are a bit unsightly yes, but I can live eith that. The arm cannons should have been mirrored instead of coppied, the detail and size do make up for it compared to the original half scaled peashooter we got first round. The detail to the swords and axe looks much better with the orsnge plastic then painted over for an energised look.
The ACTUAL upgrade to this would include the shoulders and the smokestacks. Those alone fix the issues people had with him and as usual the colourmstching frim DNA is near dead on as usual, I do however feel its a bit of a loss that we get upgrade heads for Scourge but not for Prime's unmasked look as it was more significant in the movie than the masked

To help out massively… go better studios has a kit that makes it spot on to the film but it doesn’t have the upgraded canons or any additional accessories unless you actually look for it. The kit makes the back in vehicle mode look accurate (no there is not a trailer port) but the kit fills gaps and satisfies the needs for most people to fill in unnecessary gaps. You’re welcome. 😊
Can you keep the original feet on the legs for the truck transformation with the upgrade kit installed?

I wish they should make unmasked optimus prime head for DNA upgrade kit.
The shoulder's are cool, but we need a kit that fixes 3 things: the truckbed, the gap in the back, and the shoulders.
They should have made it so that the toes can't articulate upwards, you might lose a tiny bit of possibility in the feet but hey, now he can actually stand. Is Prime's loose toe joints a common issue or did he just get unlucky?

I wish they gave him articulated hands like Hasbro did release Transformers with articulate of hands and they're mostly Deluxe classes to leader classes like hot rod from the 86 line and even Starscream he's more like a Voyager Class but he came with articulated hands
