The best was when Matt Millen, who was the GM of the Lions who had the #2 pick, called up Al Davis to tell him not to draft JaMarcus Russell because he was going to be terrible
And drafted Calvin Johnson after that who was a god 😂
That 2021 class really isn’t a bad group of qb’s. I’ve seen plenty of Bears and Jaguars games so I can say for sure Fields and Lawrence are both ballers man.
facts...I think there a lot of recency bias with people saying how bad that class it. But also it might have to do with how hyped up they were
Mac Jones I would say was solid from that class too. But NE failed him.
Ah yes, the draft where Al Davis wanted Russell and Kiffin wanted Calvin Johnson.
That 2007 draft had PLENTY of talented NON-QBs
And than Al Davis pubicly read a letter he wrote to Kiffin after firing him talking about oh "I know you didn't want Russell but I think hes great" While Russell was still on the team...crazy

The best QB in 2007 was the one that wasn't drafted, Matt Moore. Trent Edwards started out good until he got a concussion and never was the same.

I am not sure if true, but one of my Taider friends told me about how Damascus Russel wanted to go somewhere really bad. So bad that he chartered a Southwest Airlines flight just for himself. It true, incredible financial stupidity.

Isn't JaMarcus Russell the reason rookie contracts are sort of standardized now?
To be fair to JaMarcus knowing wat we know with hindsight with his letter and his Pivot podcast appearence, and him opening up it's changed my mind on him. He was going through a lot and was not ready for the NFL or willing to put the work in once he got there. Much like Ryan Leaf as well though.
EDIT: What is it with the Browns and pick 22 and questionable QB choices...at least they got one good pick with Joe Thomas though.
Joe Thomas was a real true phenomenal pick 1st Round 3rd overall University of Wisconsin the heart and soul of the Cleveland Browns 10,000 snaps with one team I know it sucks he didn't play in the Super Bowl for the 1st time in his Hall Of Fame career but he'd NEVER EVER missed a game not by a longshot no injuries at all 3:00
I think Thomas got hurt in the final season of his career.

Calvin Johnson was the absolute BEST drafted pick ever no doubt on that he was a BEAST of a wide receivers speed hands vertical and just a splendid gifted of a player and a athlete in Detroit 1st Round 2nd overall pick the Georgia Tech University Yellow Jackets after 9 years he's now a Hall Of Famer 2:55

The best thing about Brady Quinn was his hot sister that went on to marry AJ Hawk and sadly went full Kardasian with plastic surgery on herself and sadly now looks like a shadow of the girl she was.

Ugh still have nightmares about Russell… I’ll say considering what San Fran gave up to get lance, I could argue he is by far the bigger draft bust.. Russell simply landed in our laps, unfortunately 😑
