People forget that Devin Gardner had switched to WR and was putting up good numbers as Denard Robinson's primary target; but then Denard got injured and his backup was ineffective so they put Gardner back at QB. He played so well that when Robinson was healthy they left Gardner in and used Denard as a RB primarily for the last few games of his career. It was a strange ending for Denard Robinson, a player who has a very strange place in Michigan's history.

Out of all the QB's mentioned in this video I'd say Devin Gardner had the absolute most adversity to deal with. Being switched to receiver and dealing with arguably Michigan's worse era in terms of offensive line performance which led to him being constantly banged up with some form of injury was out of his hands and despite the circumstances he gave it his absolute all for his team. His Monday Morning Quarterback podcast is a great watch, the man will be coaching at the next level before we know it.

I wonder how much the changing landscape of offensive approach affected these guys? They would be, most likely, the last of the QB classes to enter college while the I formation was still prevalent. I believe FSU would be the last national champion that would be predominantly I formation, maybe Alabama in 2016. For sure, programs were incorporating the RPO on a regular basis by 2013. That would be a big adjustment for them. Great video, Scott!

He openly threw the game vs UK in 2011 amidst an injury-filled lost season, then in 2012 had an unbelievable offense with many players STILL in the NFL (cordarelle!) undone by coaching malpractice.

I think he never got a fair shake as a "proper" QB from Bob Stoops but he made the most of it by switching positions and has stuck around in the NFL for awhile as a tight end.

And of course we had to say it in the same stupid way the announcers would. Now that I remember the Bell-Dozer, next time I see those friends I have no option but to bring it up. Wouldn't call the 2010 draft class terrible. Bradford looked like a superstar/HoFer until the injuries ate em up.
McCoy was a career backup. He was a top 5 option if you needed insurance for a decade. That's almost more impressive than being a full time starter because he had to prove it every year.
Tebow was just one of those experiments that didn't take. I must point out that Taysom Hill owes his career to Tim.
The HS Class was historically terrible. It's exceedingly rare a class has a position with zero good NFL players.

Transfer rules being what they were then, picking the correct school was very important. Many of these players did not. Who knows what some careers could have been had they picked the right school.
Notes: did Lindeneood college get 2 of these QBs? Did I hear right?
Simms was a big deal then disappeared after he lost out on the starting job
Barry Brunneti (spelling) transfered from WVU bc of family Reasons. There was speculation he may go to home town Memphis but they were horrible then. He was never taken advantage of by Ole miss in my opinion
Blake from OU was a a stud as RB. Seemed like his first couple.of years he either scored a TD or converted a 4th down on every carry. I think those were the only situations he came in on lol. His TD % was incredible
