My spouse was released to her mother from the hospital after having a stroke, they also shared her PHI to her mother and father, I am her husband and next of kin. She was in a coma.

I went to Urgent Care and obtained a doctors note that basically said what day I was seen and what day I could return to work. There is a new policy at my work that if you have Covid related symptoms you have to stay out 14 days. My doctors not only put me out for 3 days. A coworker starts messaging me and says that my boss is going around to other coworkers and telling them that my doctor released me days ago and he doesn’t know why I’m not back at work yet. Would this be considered a HIPPA violation? Since he got this information directly from my doctors note and is now telling others without my consent?
Yes, it will come under HIPPA violation unless you didn't sign any N.V.P with your doctor authorizing your boss to know your medical details, you have all rights to decide to whom it should be shared.

Hi, What kind of information can your work ask to be on a doctors note? Does it have to say you were there for medical reasons? I just feel that the reason anyoe goes to the doctor is no ones business, please make this cleare. Thank you :)
A doctors note should include the date(s) the employee is requesting excusal from work. Unbelievably- the note must be verifiable to an actual doctor- not a handwritten note with no identification on it- which was given to me once. If it is a workers compensation issue, the employer has a bit more leeway in knowing what is going on with the employees progress
Ok so how far can a school go without breaking the HIPAA laws set in place for parents? I'm not sure if I want to fill out the medical forms due to all the COV junk! Not that my child had it but I'm frustrated with all of it! But I guess the biggest issue is the want a Dr slip saying why after I told them she's not to wear a mask due to medical reasons. They want a slip anyways. Isn't that going against HIPAA laws?

I then come to find out that my councillor and pretty much the entirety of the staff knew it was happening way before I did and they did nothing about it. ***Side note** all state ? s have their own laws but its illegal in PA to not have the consent of all parties involved. You can get up to 5 or 6 years in prison and thousands of dollars in fines and then you can file a civil suit on top of that*** I filed a complaint and now the harassment is only getting worse. F my life lol
I better share to my Aunt because I did not know that until she told me that on my Facebook messenger. I am not sharing that on my newsfeed on Facebook because I am too cautious about that.
