You didn't take in account the effects of hormones, the loss of muscle volume in the legs can very likely be a result of hormonal therapy, as well as some skin improvement around the time when she has started taking hormones.

    Great video!
I wonder how much HRT played a role in how she looks. From what I hear, HRT can cause breasts to begin to grow, skin to get softer, and even reverse hair loss (to an extent). And results get better the longer you’re on it. It’s by far the most common tool for transitioning too since it’s non-invasive, reversible if you don’t like the results, and accessible even if you aren’t rich.

Wouldn’t call it reversible. Breast growth is not reversible in biological males taking estrogen. The voice drop brought on by testosterone in biological females is not reversible either, nor are facial changes if you’re on it at a young age. Be careful with your wording.

Estrogen is more effective the younger you start it to maximize it. Ideally if your trans you would want to start it before your teen puberty but everyone is different. It’s never too late but the earlier the better I would say. Twenties is stil pretty early.

Effects lessen with age. At her age, the effects were likely mostly surgical. Of she was 20 most of those things would be hormonal. However, many older trans women often go onto female hormones years before they actually transition, which, looking at the photos from 2003 onward, I think she was doing.

I think it would be okay to refer to him as a him when Bruce was a him. Because that was accurate at the time. But yes refer to her as a her when she became Caitlyn. It’s more a matter of biology as opposed to personal preference of pronouns. It came off confusing when he was saying “her” when at that time we were talking about a “him”. This is not meant to be a political statement. Just the factual biology of it.

As a trans person myself (who did come out a young age) I know I think about myself as having been a young boy, even before I even knew what gender was or had any issues around it. I've always been me, even when I didnt understand/knew that yet. When talking about a Trans person, it's just better to use the current name and pronouns for any age really.

A good comparison is a butterfly. We don't call the previous stages of a butterfly's as a butterfly, we call it by what it looked like (or what we identified it by) which is either a pupa or a caterpillar.

Genuine question no hate or anything: when a trans person transitions, why do you change the pronouns they used before the transition when talking about their past? Caitlyn was “he” and referred to herself as “he” before the transition, so why do we change it now when talking about her before her transitioning?
Don’t think im transphobic, I just don’t understand and want to know.

    • @khoi8089

(i’ll use caitlyn as an example to explain) since at the point in time we’re talking about her (the present) she identifies as female, its kind to use feminine pronouns for her since that’s what she uses. even though at that point she didn’t use she/her pronouns, she also could have still identified as female but not revealed it to people. overall it makes trans people more comfortable to refer to them using the pronouns they use rather than what they were assigned. im not the best at explaining things but i hope this could help

I would like to say, as a trans person, I appreciate him correctly gendering her even when she identified as he in the past because what's current is correct, but also Caitlyn Jenner is horrible to the trans community especially her fellow trans-femmes and we all hate her. But misgendering anyone, even horrible and internally transphobic people is wrong and transphobic. So thank you Dr.
