I have been using the Defy fulltime since last December and am very happy with it. I participated in Dygma’s Kickstarter campaign after significant research. If you are looking for an extremely well made flat, split, easily programmable, hot swappable, column staggered keyboard with Cherry style switches and excellent thumb clusters that supports wireless (through Bluetooth and RF, and able to connect with up to 5 devices at the same time) and tenting, the Defy is for you. Dygma’s customer service is also excellent.
Part of me is also interested in a keyboard with a keywell, such as the Glove80 or Advantage 360, but there are significant trade-offs. All in all, I still consider the Defy the best deal in its category. Yes, it has a higher price tag than regular keyboards, but I still consider it an excellent investment.
If you like the Defy but prefer a row staggered (‘regular’) layout, Dygma’s Raise 2 may be a good option for you.

Almost never comment on videos. Have to say that I've been enjoying your videos quite a lot lately (nvim setup, keyboards, cli tools). Thanks a bunch and keep em coming!

Thank you so much for the review Josean! We're precisely aiming to make ergonomic keyboards more accessible in terms of configuration and ease of use 😊

    Great video!
I think the travel case makes it worthwhile. I currently use a Kinesis Adv 360 Pro, and while I love it, it does not come with a travel case, nor do they sell one. It's a true let down as I go into the office often and would love to have a case to carry instead or risking damage by carrying the keyboards bare. For the price of the keyboards, a case should be standard, or at least an option to purchase one from the company.

Hey, I'm a beginner looking to buy my first split keyboard soon.
After a lot of research, I've decided on the ZSA Moonlander as anything going beyond that could be problematic for a beginner
How do you think this Defy compares to the Moonlander as a first split keyboard for a split keyboard beginner?

The only thing stopping me from buying Dygma Defy is how they dont allow option to without the switches and keycaps. I have alot of my own sets I want to use with Dygma Defy, and it feels alot of waste to buy and trash the ones included in the kit. Anyway good review.

Can you show how you built your wireless corne? I'm using an alice style keyboard with my nvim config (heavily based on your first video) and think the next move for me is fully split. The prebuilt options seem out of my price range

Can you provide an article on key mappings for your nvim setup. I setup using your video few months ago and forgot the key mappings. It is hard to go and watch whole video for key mapping.

For the cheapest version. Nearly double to get what almost all others already have for the same price as their base model.

@@davidallred991 I think no other split keyboard has RGB underglow or tenting that folds into the body. And our wireless is BT, RF and wired. The wireless split keyboards out there are Bluetooth and ONLY Bluetooth. Of course, 609 USD is a lot of money, but it's priced very similar to other keyboards with the equivalent specs... and it's aluminum and not plastic 😅

Pretty normal for split ergo keyboards, but I agree in general that split ergo keyboards are outrageously priced. They’re just taking advantage of people who have real health issues and know they’ll pay the insane money. They’ll never convince me they’re not making like 90% margins on these keyboards lol
