I think Apple believed if people are willing to buy an iPad Pro, and spend from $1800 up to $2600, they would spend $1000 more to have the same computing capability with a more dynamic experience, and an entirely new display technology… The main reason why content is slow coming for VP, is because developers are slow to understand how to actually take advantage of the technology. An example is Marvels VP interactive content. They think they understand, but they really are not getting it… 🤔
Meta started as a game device. Apple doesn't want to use that as the foundation of the Vision product. Speculating where they are going is think on value.
Steve Jobs once said this already when personal computers were taking off. He said that they could make an affordable computers that would fit into people’s budget and would be lighter but that was already being done by other companies who were manufacturing garbage computers. At that time with that time technology it was not possible to build a great computer lighter enough like a book. So he told that it would take some time to build great personal computers that would be lighter enough and fit into budget of an average person. So Apple started with portable computers of size shoes box and then later it became possible to manufacture a great computer in the size of a book. Apple is taking same approach here with Apple Vision Pro. Later when Apple will release a lighter and more affordable great spatial computer. Apple could have done like the other companies are doing by manufacturing a spatial computer which is lighter and affordable too but garbage at this point of time.
Smart glasses will not replace the smartphone (never ever) you cant take selfies with smart glasses. Love my Ray Ban Metas but after a year of wearing them it's become obvious AR Glasses, AI Glasses and what not will ever replace our selfie devices!
What’s the deal with replacing smartphones? I think it should be like AirPods. An accessory to smartphones. We forget that so many people make a lot of money from content creation.
Apple has other problems too. I wanted to buy a MacBook Pro. I configured it for my needs. It would have cost me over € 6000! For that money I could buy 2 to 3 Windows Laptops. I already use an iPhone and an iPad Pro.
When AR glasses do eventually arrive from Meta and Apple, it’ll be down to has the best apps you can run on it. Apple will likely have a leg up here as they’ll use their existing app stores
This is a good point, but I do think apple will be limited in many ways. I know they're determined to be as secure as possible with the assurance that all the processing of data is done on device, and that limits what they can do with AI. Whereas other companies will be able to leverage the latest and greatest, and I think AI will be the real "Killer app" when it comes to AR. Being able to essentially have a conversation with the AI where it understands what you're asking based on what you're looking at, being smart enough to answer questions and do things without you having to explicitly ask, etc
1,250,000 Quest 3 headsets ($625,000,000) sold to date and if you compare that to Apple selling even on the low end 500,000 🍏Vision Pro headsets ($1,750,000,000) in half the time they will have generated >$1bn in extra revenue to bring the next models to market. Baby steps people, as the glasses are not XR headsets or the true future they will just be in there own separate category. Do we all believe that the future is everyone wearing glasses with glowing lenses, the current incarnation of the Meta Wayfarer's are just a fad as they are limited in functionality as you cannot trust them to action something without some screen to verify the action also Meta AI has a distribution issue globally?

You guys are stepping all over each other, making it a very difficult listen.

Gurman is delulu 😂
Apple vision Pro has a future as a replacement for a laptop. Meta’s Orion glasses are a replacement for a phone.

Not the same under Tim Cook

Vision Pro is dead
The same way Electric Vehicles are dead to people who don’t own them…
