- Опубликовано: 8 авг 2024
- Todd Helms reviews and tests out Leupold's SX-4 Pro Guide HD spotting scope in 15-45x65mm. Excellent clarity in low light and harsh sun conditions make this spotting scope versatile. Optimum placement of the focus ring, an oversized eye piece and a unique rotation feature make this scope comfortable to use for long periods of time and in a variety of positions. The spotting scope body is built of a rugged magnesium that is water and fog proof to withstand all conditions.

I've used Swaro, Leica, and others and I always come back to Leupold. Their glass is crystal clear and unbeatable in low light conditions.
I own a bunch of Leupold products, some for over 45 years. Never had to use the warranty. I also appreciate they tend to be better built and lighter in weight than many competitors products, which I also own. I keep coming back to Leupold.
Good introductory product presentation. I am a solid Leupold guy, but I would like to see some video clips of this scope's high definition performance with big game at various ranges out to 2,000 yds. Great presentation. Thanks.
Thanks for your feedback. We will keep that in mind for future reviews.
Just ordered it, taking to Idaho this year.
Sweet! Good luck out there!
Nice review, they’ve changed their focus to the body like the swaro and meopta much better location
Thanks for the feedback. We agree we like the updates to the focus ring!
This a great location for the focus ring and it performed well.
I just bought one. The build quality is a lot better than the Vortex Viper that I previously owned. I have yet to compare it against my friends Swaro, i'm hoping it's not going to be much worse. Looking forward to trying it on the 550 yard rifle range in the near future..
So far it's pretty washed out at the higher magnification in terms of contrast which also affects the colour in a negative way but even the best german scopes seem to be like that if you are fussy.
Edge to edge clarity is good though and it's also sharp with precise focusing.
It's heavy but compact.
My goal was to get a really good long lasting spotting scope without spending the same amount as a Swaro or Leica. This Leupold is not cheap, thats for sure so I have high hopes for it..
Would you say this is definitely a better scope than the vortex viper?
Do you still feel the same way after a year? Wondering how this scope compares to the Vortex Viper, Vortex Razor, and the Leupold SX5 Santiam. I feel like Leupold quality is always a little better than Vortex, but probably not enough to make this as good as the Razor?
@@hootiesfilms6446 It's not as good in terms of clarity as a Razor but it's better than a Viper. I still like, I havn't had a chance to use it for hunting yet due to lockdowns but it's had plenty of range time.
@@Jumplike23 Absoluetly
@@serverlan763 what do you mean "washed out?" like really shitty Chinese made gosky looking image? Or still VERY sharp but the colours aren't the same? Definitely beyond acceptable image? Or under acceptable image.
Between this one and the Razor which would be the better option ?
How does this spotting scope compare to the vortex viper spotting scope?

Does this have ed glass?
What tripod are you using?
Amazing
Thanks for watching!
Glad you enjoyed the review!
I watched a lot of videos reviewing spotting scopes. The glass is first, and the warranty is second. TRACT Optics the top pick of spotters reviewed by me. TRACT has better glass Schott HT/UHD. The company's 27-55x80mm 67 ounces is not for hunting but for range use only. Two years ago, I purchased Tract's Optics 4-20x50mm Toric rifle scope with the same lenses as the company's spotting scope! Great glass in both!
One review said "The construction and presentation is very nice. However, in a side by side with my existing brand V scope, which cost me half of the Toric price, Toric offered no observable image clarity improvement. My test was run on observing hits on steel plates between 400 and 1100 yards which is my primary use for a spotting scope"
After that I didn't know if i wanted toric
How good is the warranty on this leupold scope?
Lifetime
I have that with the 85mm objective. It’s too big and heavy for my liking. I’d rather have the 65mm.
Why do they not make this with a higher magnification?
What is the main difference between SX-4 Pro Guide and SX-2 Alpine?
That’s the $500 question.
Sx-2 alpine is garbage compared to it, there is no question just go for sx4
Sx4 has fully coated lenses on each to help improve it all basically
Is this Leupold made in China? There's conflicting information whether they are made in Japan or China. I know the Leupold rep told me their BX 4 binoculars are made in Japan while their BX 2 and below are made in China.
I pick up one and I’m a Leupold zealot, I’m unable to focus on a target at 400m let alone view any bullet holes. I’m very disappointed it cost $3600 in Australia. Let’s see if Nioa stands by Leupolds warranty
$3600 Australian? I paid like $1200 Au for mine like a year ago and I thought that was too much.
Why, becuase it is to small magnification?
@@serverlan763this person said they're unable to focus at 400m or view any bullet holes. is that a lemon? or is it becuase the magnification is to small to go that far?
@@captainmarshy1268 my question exactly
@@themintaddict2090 I can just see 30 cal holes with mine at 550 yards if there is not too much mirage. I bought mine mainly for hunting use though and some range work. I dont shoot past 550 yards
any idea what the outside diameter is for the eye peace looking at getting a camera mount for it
