A slightly different version (from the website) is one of my faves: a different bean combo, smoked paprika, & a mellow or smoked chile, for flavour not heat. That's the BBQtastic version but either one is a veg-stravaganza! (I use the cooking time to prepare the rice [I find brown rice nuttier & more interesting, but that's just me...] and mounds of guacamole.) This recipe's a keeper, & whichever variants you try, you will not be sorry - I promise!!

I just made this and it turned out good! I couldn't find the chili peppers he used, so I use a green serrano pepper and two red fresno chilis. I diced my sweet potato smaller, used an orange instead of yellow bell pepper, and I also added some chili powder and chipotle powder. I thought it might be too hot with all the cayenne seasoning and the hot peppers, but it had a nice heat. I would've never thought to use cinnamon but it added a good flavor. Good healthy meal for this vegetarian here!
I made this today and it was GLORIOUS! I have loads of leftovers for the week, too! I'm a terrible cook, a destroyer of kitchens, but this was too easy to mess up! My friends loved it!
I have just made this dish for a cold wintry dinner in Melbourne, Australia. I only used 1 can of tomatoes and I added some button mushrooms cut in half...... I served it with brown rice, yoghurt, mashed avocado and fresh basil........D....I...vine!!! I watched it & had similar ingredients on hand so I whipped up my own version tonight...instead of sweet potatoes cubed, I had roasted yams that I mashed, did a few different types of beans, topped it with shredded cheddar cheese, plain yogurt & shredded romaine lettuce & served it with slices of toasted crusty bread! My hubby devoured it all & didn't even miss the meat, so thank you again for the inspiration! 👌👐❤😉

probably better off tossing the sweet potato in a metal bowl with less oil., then placing in the roasting tray. You don't need this much oil. Other than that, looks good.

Here in our country in the philippines we use sweet potato much more on sweets or dessert like ginataang halo halo which is a mix of banana, sweet potato, jackfruit and coconut milk, and we also do a kamotecue which is a sweet potato that is cooked with caramel then skewered in a bamboo stick kinda like a BBQ but sweet and we filipinos prefer it as dessert.
Hello Jamie! I've watched your 15 minutes meal where u made crispy noodle salad. I'm from Malaysia. We used to have that crispy noodle on top of our broth noodle. You can actually just deep fry them in oil without cooking it at the first place. It will turn out really really crunchy! well usually we use glass noodle instead of rice noodle. Hope it is helpful!

I literally just made sweet potato chili the other day. Do very much love it. Its such a good alternative to beef, and its so much better than just beans. I cut my potatoes smaller though, half inch cubes, and cooked them up in a pan with their spices. It makes for good eats I'll tell ya. Now what you want instead of cyan, you want chipolte powder alongside it. get that smoke! I also use beer instead of water D:
+NNigelGrab I used Yuengling in my recepie, which is a bit different from Jamies. Mine is cooked a bit closer to traditional slow cooked chili. Jamie Oliver Any time you add water, if you havent already a beer wine or whiskey is always welcome. In the case of chili, Beer works wonders! A good beer makes for excellent flavor especially in spicy savory foods!

Chili is vegetarian in its origins: chili con carne has meats, chili con pollo has poultry. It looks delicious and the sweet potatoes will give you something to bite into that has a bit of volume.

You don't have to boil sweet potatoes - but if you're roasting normal white potatoes, you should boil them first.
