What I love about WTAC is the fact every single person is trying to maximize the fasted lap possible. And not a SINGLE car is exactly the same. You have a car from the 80’s battling a car from 2020, and even the same brand and model are completely different cars with completely different parts trying to achieve the same goal. And there is always 1 winner. It’s the literal definition and example of what car tuning is.
I can still remember sitting in the pits of Oran Park in 2008 when the first Superlap was being held and thinking "they are really going to bring Time Attack to Australia". Who would of thought it would evolve into the spectacle and arguably the epic centre of Time Attack racing it is now ?
As somebody in the UK, we also have a great national Time Attack series. But you guys have the pinnacle… I don’t doubt that teams here wish they had the chance to compete!
I have goosebumps! Seeing so many children at the event is incredible-such a fantastic atmosphere for families! My then 2-year-old son was at the 2022 event, and the teams were so welcoming, even letting him sit in their cars! Absolutely amazing event! Well done, Ian! I remember back in 2010 when it was Superlap, working at the event. Over the years, whether attending in person or glued to my screen, I've watched the event grow and the competition become absolutely insane. My dream is to race at World Time Attack next year-can't wait to see what the future holds!
Up there as one of the best motorsport events in the world, and so lucky to have it in our own backyard. Thanks Ian and the team for putting it all together.
I remember seeing Barton Mawer drive the historic Mawer formula ford his dad Dave built back in Sydney in 1998 or 1999, and now to see him ripping these time attack monsters is pretty cool!
@@WorldTimeAttackChallenge Was nothing against the City. Newer track different location, times to be set etc Something new. Built for World Class, now the World Class need to come ;)
@@sportsfanivosevic9885 Obviously there are different degrees of danger in all racing. With Pike’s Peak, the extreme danger, IMHO, makes it more interesting.
That turn-in at 8:32, exactly a minute into the lap...he points and it just GOES! JESUS. What was that, 250kph entrance speed?! AND full throttle almost a third of the way into the corner?
The fact that a road car chassis from the 1980s is faster than a F1 driver in a Grand Prix based on the 2004 Ferrari F1 car for the outright track record is insane.
Only ''car'' I can think of worldwide that can match this RP968 is Gobstopper 3 , they have very similar philosophy (I expected much more from USA participants but for NOW they are very far from competition at this level)
@@WorldTimeAttackChallenge I have now, but I do prefer the hot-lap stuff compared to the vinwiki format (which is fine, but I have different preferences lol)

Crazy event! Superb RP968 performance! And awesome video production!

So glad Keiichi is still active in the scene. Really a STAPLE of motorsports. Goosebumps.
Holy moly.. that braking capability from Tim Slade on the red flag was insane....

So it’s Pike’s Peak without the mountain or the danger. Got it!
Going a fair bit faster though.
@@sportsfanivosevic9885 Yes. Because it’s flat and less dangerous.
@@PDaddy44 Is dangerous good?

I would like to see a little bit more detail about each car and a little less about how people met and where they know each other from etc.
Masterpiece. Thank you Ian !

Move the event to Bathurst and it would be insane!
This is epic!

It would be nice to see car manufacturers competing with their unrestricted le mans prototypes
As excited as I am for this year's event, it sucks that Bando and his RSC300 won't be competing.
