Not every day you find an HT20 with a loader! If you touch up the paint and make it work, that the loader will be worth more that the tractor😎👍🏽 Enjoy your new project man

Love those cold starts! My '90 Craftsman II with snowblower and B&S 14 hp Vanguard engine has no problem firing up cold. Coldest I've started at is -28 Deg, C, so she's bitter for sure. Make sure oil is synthetic 5W-30 and a 600 amp CA battery and LOTS of prime, and she fires right up. BTW, threw some snow 2 hours ago but only -9 Deg C. so starting is as usual no concern. Loved your video about your Vanguard engine rebuild also. Going to rebuild mine when the time comes. I love winter!!

Thanks a lot! It's not really the best for an engine, but sometimes you just really need to use equipment when it gets super cold!
You have experienced a cold start indeed and it's great to hear your opinion. Some members have really never been in such cold weather before and don't understand what a cold start really is!
Thank you for your advice and I will take that with me. It's always good to have a thinner oil in cold climate areas, or else you'll be turning over "syrup-like" lubricant.
The temperature you experienced today was very nice for a start and I hope you didn't get too cold on your tractor.
Thank you, that was a little project and I thought I'd share it. I haven't been able to use it yet, as I do not have a dedicated machine...Maybe I have to keep my eyes open for a Non-running deal and swap it. Thanks again & Best regards

Thank you John! The Bolens did a great job clearing this fresh snow, but -30C is pushing it when it comes to equipment that isn't stored inside!

You can always count on an opposed twin engine to fire up! Sorry to hear about the bent blade, but it looks like it could be straightened out with some heat and patience. I've seen a rear 3-point blade bend from hitting a sewer cap in the street...it took a lot of frustration, heat, and a few pieces of angle iron to straighten it back out.

You're right, these engines should always fire up! I would love the find a proper magnetic oil pan heater, just to assist with a cold start like this. -30degrees celsius is no joke for equipment! No worries, I took a closer look at everything and the blade straightened out nicely. I did apply heat to the cutting-edge, because that was twisted a bit more. Now everything is good again. Thank you for your detailed advice, I really appreciate it. Cutting edge material is very tough and I drove full speed into a chunk of ice on that corner and under the snow I did not see it. At least I know how to fix it, if it happens again (hopefully not!). Best regards

Sheesh that is cold none of my older tractors like the cold my old cub cadet doesn’t like it but it sits in a cold shed and I have sae30 oil in it so it usually turns over a little slow but it always starts you just gotta wake it up

    • @WorkshopRebuild

Yes, this time of year it gets really cold and a lot of machines don't like the cold unless they are plugged in! That's awesome, which model of Cub is that? I agree, they just need to get woken up and once they're running everything is fine. Cheers

@@hunter7476 That's a nice looking tractor and it's equipt with some nice features! 18HP is also a very nice amount of power for a garden tractor. Do you like your 318 or 1811 more?
