Yes sir. Those machines will make little piles out of big piles. When I worked in public service, we had a 15" machine that chewed through trees like they were butter. Awesome machines for sure.
Good morning and great to hear from you Dave! Just watched your video last year on hydraulics. Thanks for the great explanation. Hope you are doing well!
Good afternoon Gord, just finished my morning coffee in your cup. 😃👍👍. Good job with the chipper today, it got the job done? . It’s still hot down here and sort of dry too . Still in our hurricane season though so we don’t wonder away till that’s over. Still having more cases of the COVID-19 viruses popping up. We are doing our best to stay safe. Thanks for sharing with us and be safe out there. Fred.
Good evening Fred! Yes, it did indeed. Did a great job. Yes, please stay safe and be careful. An ounce of prevention equals a pound of cure, in my books. I am still careful. Stay safe and well Fred!
Hi GP, I have to say that I'm impressed with this chipper! Especially with the ability to shoot the chips at a great distance. One of the best small chippers that I've seen! Bring it to my house so I can make good use of it! Take Care, Tom
Wow,..this a much better way to get rid of branches especially in lieu of burning! I have a helluva pile to reduce, if only I could afford one of these; but for now, Mother Nature will have to take over.
Now if a fellow wanted to grind his own chicken or wild bird feed, just grab a bushel of corn and hang a laundry bag on the chute !! It'd probably work just like a hammer mill....maybe. LOL I would think green wood would process a bit easier. But one thing I learned about chippers while getting that 30 year old Cub Cadet running a coupe weeks ago is that I don't know ANYTHING about how to use them. Basically, never take a suggestion from me on chippers....LOL Good video GP. Enjoy the early coffee sir.
Good morning GP. You made a very important point on not leaving chip piles for fear of spontaneous combustion. I had some large finely meshed bags I would put over the chute of my stand-alone and use the discharged chips in the dog kennel. I suppose you could discharge into a trailer and spread them on trails as well. I love this rig for its large single hopper. My old stand-alone unit had 2, one for limbs, and one for leaves and small branches. The limb port claimed 3" capacity, but only if the limb was as straight as a piece of dowel. You also make a great point about the value of a stand-alone unit versus the cost of maintaining another engine - your tractor is free to do other things. Also, being small enough to tow with your ATV you can get this chipper into a lot of places that fancy new cab tractor won't go.
Hey GP, congrats on the new cab tractor. Bet you’re looking forward to winter. A heater, tunes and a coffee while you blow snow in comfort. Thank you for all the great videos and daily admonition to all of us to be kind. Have a great week. Paul B.
GP Outdoors Really liked it very well built machine. I hate having to clean up brush but the 4090 made the job quick and easy. Teresa loved that we could easily collect the mulch for her flower beds. The one you have has the latest discharge chute which would make collecting mulch easier. Be careful you might get attached to it. Take care brother
Hello Gord, thank you for mentioning about the possibility of spontaneous combustion, I had this happen with saw dust in my back yard several years ago. Since then I cut over a tarp, then burn of the sawdust as a fire starter, along with any noodles.
Good day Gp now that’s great for putting wood chips on your trails. You Point it and shoot it down the trail as you clean The branches. Have a good day
If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound? If a branch is laying on the forest floor does anyone see it? Yes Gord sees it....... and he chips it up into tiny pieces!! Cheers from Esko, Minnesota. Russ
LOL! Good evening Bubba. I was one of the Colonel's boys and girls for about 4 years during school. I promise, you don't want to know how we made the cole slaw. Just enjoy it... LOL!
How's she goin'? The chipper had no issues with the green wood I'd say!!! I noticed some of the bigger branches were not always feeding into the hopper on their own and you had to help them. I guess that is to be expected though since the branches were pretty bushy. One thing though, the big round hopper makes it easy to get the branches into the chipper. The hopper looks very easy to remove also with the clips on the side, so dealing with a jam would be pretty easy as well. A real nice chipper. But I would expect nothing less from Split Fire!!! Thanks for posting and take care!!
Hi GP - just ordered a Split-Fire splitter and they mentioned you were trying out a chipper. Looks like it works great on the green stuff. It is getting expensive watching your channel - now I have another item on the list, as well as seeing you move up to the LX Kubota...
Hi G.P. between the 3pt. Chipper and the spit fire you have a choice which one you like better. Seems like trying to pick which child is your favorite. Have a great weekend thanks for sharing
Hey GP looks like the chipper handled the green material just fine. You've really got my gears turning now as I have a couple big brush piles I'm waiting until this winter to burn up. Would be nice to free up the space sooner and also make some nice mulch for landscaping. Made quick work of that project...enjoy the coffee! 😀👍🍻
Maybe you’ve answered it before but I’m curious why you chip the limbs out in the woods? I thought the brush piles were good for all the cute little critters...
Uhmmm, have been looking at purchasing a chipper, never heard of this company until now, will add them to my list to review, thanks. Will look at your previous video as well.
Sherpa Split-Fire really makes quality products I have one of their wood splitters and was able to operate a 4090 chipper and was very impressed with both.
Good day, good working chipper. I would suggest a 2 blade option. Mine has just one blade any I could tell that a 2nd blade would make quite a difference. What do you think a stand alone or one of the pto since you have tried both? Thanks take care.
Hi Gilles! I think generally, a PTO driven machine will always have more consistent torque than a gas fired model, in this segment of chipper size, at least. However this chipper has a few advantages - it has the horizontal rotor which Think provides a gravitational advantage, it has a much wider opening into the blade area, and also, you may have noticed, the chute is not enclosed all the way up , so it minimizes the risk of clogging. Just my initial thoughts after using it a few times. I'll keep using it some more until they come to pick it up but I am enjoying it so far. Have a great weekend!
Hello Gord. That chipper is really nice, handles the wood well. Makes you wonder if there is a benefit to having a 3pt chipper even with the added maintenance of another motor instead of using the tractor's power source. Have a good one. Alain
Morning Alain! An excellent consideration. Sometimes it may be very advantageous to having a standalone chipper when you are working the log pile in the forest. Allows you to carry other equipment on the 3 point but have the chipper on site for cleanup. Have a good one!
Was just looking at the engine specs Honda derates the 390cc vertical shafts from 11.7 hp to 10.2. It seems like it could really use that extra 15% horsepower
Good day Joe! It does. A much bigger opening to the rotor and the steel plate down in the hopper, is angled towards the rotor blade area. Works well , I think. Take care!
same brand chipper we have for 3 point hitch tractor but its wasnt the best performance with it magine that one is better then our 3 point hitch split fire chipper wich had issues of chipping
Hey good evening Lee! Thanks so much for thinking about us here. The fire is a very long way from me so we are all good here. But I understand they are evacuating a number of nearby towns out there now. Hoping the best for all out there.
Sure do envy all your great attachments. Thanks for another great demonstration!
Wow awesome video gp now you are making green snow
LOL!
the content i never knew i wanted, thanks youtube.
LOL! Cheers and all the best Jordan!
Another video to start the day with my coffee. Thanks.
Cheers Roger!

Thanks for the note about spreading the chips.
So the wood chipper was a nice video, we want to see your new tractor!
LOL! Hey Jean, on the weekend :))
Nice video. GP. That chipper does the job! It works almost as hard as you do! Cheers!
I like this unit. very nice and sounds like the rpm's are cranking on that puppy!

Go that 4090 is one very awesome machine. It just keeps on chipping. Two people could really feed it a lot of brush in short order.
Good day William. It is enjoyable to use. It keeps taking whatever I feed it. Have a great weekend!
Good evening GP
It made short work of that brush pile. I am impressed.
Stay safe and be kind..
Cheers

@@GPOutdoors Good Morning to you, Squire!
Good morning, GP. A certain satisfaction with watching those limbs getting gobbled up. That chipper works well for jobs like that. 👍
LOL. Me too, Edward. Especially those huge limbs! Love to watch it eat them all up. :)) Cheers!
Good evening GP 🌞That Canadian Built Wood Shipper is the BEST !!!😉👍 Very good work Sir 😉 Have a great week end GP 😉👍
Thanks Dave! you too!

Great info about spreading out the wood chips! I didn't know about them creating gas as they rot and the possible fire issue...
Looks like it worked good GP. Good video, hope your enjoying new tractor.
Good evening Bob! I am. Big difference and very fortunate to have it. Lots to learn still but all good so far. Have a great weekend!
👍

Hey Gord looks like a great day to be out chipping some brush. Those 4090’s really make quick work getting rid of brush. Take care brother
You will have yours very soon Sir 👍😉Keep up the good spirits !!!

Hi Meta. You can see it in the last ( first video) I did with it about 2 weeks ago. It is front and centre of the hopper on the engine guard. Cheers!
@@GPOutdoors OK, I will look again. Thanks.

I’d prefer the 3 point chipper off the back of the tractor. Much more available torque from the Diesel engine! Cheers
Yup , I agree Mike. But not a bad option for those without a tractor or prefer to drag it in separate. Cheers!
Don't you wish there is a grapple-feed chipper?
That would be awesome Meta!
works better with green wood
Cost$
Good day Jay! Yup, a lot of steel in that machine and steel is not cheap. Cheers!
Just take a moment and click on the Splitfire links in the description. Interesting information there too.
Love you buddy keep up the videos.
