How's she goin'? You have to admit that Split Fire makes good gear!!! This was a pretty good test of the chipper. I like that it sort of slows down when under load, rather than stalling. The clutch is a great feature. Loads of chips now buddy for your trails!!! Take care and thanks for the review!!!
Morning Grampie! You bet. That slip clutch design works really well for managing that old, ugly stuff. I'm looking forward to using it on some new green stuff shortly. Have a great week!
LOL! You are most welcome. I appreciate it it Mike. I re-edit my videos several times focused on only the audio levels and I am happy you noticed. LOL! Have a wonderful week!
Good morning John! Me too. That old stuff is hard for any chipper I have used - stay tuned - Guy's been limbing some of the new fall so we have some fresh, green stuff to try out. Take care!
What i really like is that it's not dependent on your tractor. Which saves operating hours on the tractor itself. As you know it doesn't take long to rack the hours up. And it is easy maneuver, just attach it to a 4wheeler or side by side. Its perfect for that. Thanks GP. I might be in the market for one of these. An awesome machine.
Mornin GP! This is exactly why I watch your channel, new stuff. I had no idea this design of chipper existed. Thanks for showing us! Great video editing too. Cheers!
Morning Larry. Yup, they came in handy again. Sometimes, you don't realize how helpful something is till you start using it. Happy I have them for sure. Enjoy your weekend!
That was fun Gord! Especially that one branch that danced around in the hopper. For others watching, Its very important to make sure one's hand never gets caught between branches as the branches are pulled together as they are pulled into the hopper. There are one-armed men who can attest to this advice. Always remember to use the arm farthest away from the off switch to push the branch down if needed. That leaves the arm nearest the off switch available to hit the switch if a hand gets caught in the branches.
Very kind of Split-Fire to make one of these available for you to demo for us. Looks like a capable little unit, great option for somebody with a firewood gathering setup that doesn't extend to having a tractor. Have a good day!
Good morning Gord, I was all smiles when I first seen the new machine then you said wood chipper. Here I thought someone came up with a MINI ROCK CRUSHER. I am still happy for you that you have a new chipper to try out though. Hope it handles the green wood easier. I know you’ll give it a fair try. Thanks for sharing with us, Fred.
Hello GP - I want to commend you on your on-site chipping endeavors. By chipping that "waste wood" (a misnomer for sure), you are providing for the nutrients that would be locked in those piles for years to be released in a much quicker manner, thus building your soil health for the new generation of trees to come. Certainly, some of the wood in those piles will eventually break down and decompose but only that wood that is in direct contact with the soil. And, those piles are unsightly to boot. A big thanks for setting such a fine example of forest care. I only wish every woodlot owner would do the same.
Good morning BU and thanks very much for the comment this morning. To be honest, it is Guy teaching me these things - but hey, I'm learning as I go. We went through yesterday with the bucket and tractor to smooth down and spread out the piles as he warned that we should never leave large piles of chips - they can become a fire hazard. So we spread them out further. And hey, it also helps to make the forest look nicer too when you clean up all the rest of the tree. Thanks again and have a great week!
Morning Gord now I know what Split-Fire did with the 4090 I sent back to them a few weeks ago lol. I can speak from first hand experience those are excellent machines and make quick work out of treetops. I really like the addition of the larger discharge chute looks to be really helpful collecting the mulch. Teresa likes the fact that she had her own mulch machine. Take care brother
Good day GP 🌞 I like that finger click 🤣👍😊 GP you are the best tester product ever 😮😉😊 That wood chipper is outstanding for sure 👍😊and made in Canada 👍😉 We will have a real down poor tonight with that tropical storm passing by. Cheers 👍😊
Not too bad GP. I was wondering there a couple times as the engine was going lower...lower...but the clutch took care of it and she pulled up every time. I know you were putting it through the paces to see what it'd do, but It'd be interesting to know if Split Fire would suggest continual stopping of the centrifugal clutch would in fact cause premature failure. I bet it (clutch) was a bit on the toasty side after hogging some of those pieces through !! Cool video...and you won't believe this but just last week I got an old 31 year old Cub Cadet 9 hp self propelled vacuum/chipper up and running. Yes, there IS a video coming....LOL.
Cheers, I wanted to let you know how much your channel has influenced my decision on what tractor I wanted, I was torn between 3 different size tractors and after watching several of you videos I have decided on a B2601, so I actually went to the Kubota dealer today and ordered my new B2601 and they told me I should be getting it next week, I look forward to watching many more of your videos and my new tractor 🚜
Congratulations! You must be excited. It's a great little workhorse - I hope you enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed mine. Let me know how it is going from time to time!
Hi Gord! That’s a nice chipper you have there! I like the vertical hopper and wide mouth leading to the blades. It seemed to do a really good job, bogging down only on the biggest stuff you put in. Thanks for sharing!
Good afternoon GP! It looks like you figured out how to put the chips on your path without using the bucket on our tractor. Just blow them where you need them along your path. Later Bud
Hi Gord, that's a nice unit. It feeds pretty well where you don't have to babysit it much. With the horizontal design is the top of the hopper a little lower, it was hard to tell without your other one beside for comparison. Have a good week, enjoy the cooler weather if you're having it in the south like I am here. Alain
I think thats the better design ive seen yet. I agree about the larger engine. Sure looking forward to you putting it to the test some more. Thanks for the videos GP.
Good day, awesome video. Thanks for showing us what is out there for different equipments. That is quite a good stand alone chipper. I have one from Princess Auto 13 hp, it only has 1 cutter, wish it add at least 2. Anyway this was before I got my B2601. Take care.
Splitfire make alot of great products . Made in Canada . Great video Gord . Im impressed with that chipper . At least you don't have to bend down to feed it like the one that Mike Morgan has . Take care .
Wow, I definitely got a check them out GP. I bet that four bladed would run just beautiful what a product. That four blade may also reduce the amount of lagging from the engine as well. Definitely going to look at that product. I Roughly fill a semi dump trailer 7x14 load every 5-7 days. I could fill one every day it’s just time does not allow. We chip the trails and around the flowerbeds , trees paths ect. I always have uses for chips. I sell an absolute ton of them just from the floor of the woods. That’s a beauty of a chip.
Hey GP great vid & review...I've been looking at a few different chippers and liking how this hopper is up so you feed down instead of in. Also looks like the end product is very nice. Looking forward to seeing the green material go thru. Have a good one my friend!
Hi GP, like the demo on the chipper... I have been looking for a unit that wont break the bank, & i bet it would really crank the chips out with the 4 edge blades...Also like the mobility of the unit using the ATV..Stay Safe...God Bless...Chief...{NYS/ADK}
Hey - great to hear from you Chief! I hope you are doing great. This unit has a lot of steel in it and is priced as you might expect (accordingly). Good luck in your search and I hope you and your family are keeping well!
One immediate disadvantage I see with the vertical design, is that you have to lift the entire weight of the branch to be chipped into the hopper. Not much of an issue with the small light stuff, but with the bigger longer branches, it may be an issue when you have lots of them to chip up. With the horizontal design, you have gravity more on your side and the machine pulls the branch in to be chipped.
Great video GP. How much does the rotor weight? It seems to bog down a little quicker than our PTO chippers, I just wonder if that contributes. I agree, gotta test its limits, now I try to cut my thicker stuff a little shorter to allow the rotor to come back up to speed before next piece. This Thursday, I will have another chipper video posting and need to do the 10 hour bolt tightening. Have a great week buddy!

@Messiah Justin No problem xD
Good video Gord, I am trying to settle into the new place...unpacking...painting...all indoor things till this weekend.
Good stuff Sunjay! Hope you get at least a little time this weekend to relax and enjoy it. Take care!
I like the vertical hopper. Let gravity help you.
Nice to see local products showing on your Channel...
Nice new toy there GP... err I mean tool. Enjoy!

Works pretty good! Hope all is well Gord!
Thanks John! All good here. Hoping for a little sunshine tomorrow. Cheers!
Nice wood shipper, love it your still able to use your tractor.

Looks like a beautiful day to process firewood with friends GP. Have a great week. Cheers
You put it through its paces. I think it needs a bigger engine.
Good morning Richard!
Nice - put that thing thru its paces.
Made in Canada is a great start, and worked well with the dried out limbs and I m sure she ll handle the green limbs and brush even better. Nice.
Good morning Don! I am looking forward to it. If it did that well with the old, brittle stuff, the green stuff should be no problem. Cheers!
I like the way it handled that dry stuff, look forward to seeing how she handles the green stuff...Cheers!
Good morning John! Me too. That old stuff is hard for any chipper I have used - stay tuned - Guy's been limbing some of the new fall so we have some fresh, green stuff to try out. Take care!

Nice job getting that unit off the pickup without damaging anything. Those forks are coming in handy! Good review of the chipper too.
Morning Larry. Yup, they came in handy again. Sometimes, you don't realize how helpful something is till you start using it. Happy I have them for sure. Enjoy your weekend!
It’s a real beast:)
Impressive! It just will not stall!!!! WOW That's a great machine!
Morning Graham! Yes, that clutch works well to allow the belt to slip, I think. Have a great weekend!
Just when i had decided to not get a chipper this comes along. Impressive little machine!
I see you mastered the MNMillennial farmer snap

Nice machine! I like the hopper design. Looks like it helps gravity feed the material
I like it too GP....really good features.....thanks for showing what it does when you over feed it with the larger branches. Best to Ya!

nice piece of equipment GP. After you get more time with it I would like to know if (all things being equal) do you prefer the stand alone or the PTO driven chipper. Morning Roy! You bet - will do. You are well ahead of schedule - all checked prior to the coming heating season. Nice! Take care!
Good video 👍. Do you mostly chip or burn?
gday GP! quick question, do they have a PTO option for that chipper? The unit you were using seemed slightly underpowered.
GP, does the chipper have a rear receiver hitch that you could tow a cart behind ? Course you could probably just remove the shoot and chip right into a dedicated pile for your.........trails your making for your wife? (Hint!) LOL Good stuff!
LOL! Hint received. Yes, the tow option is a hole only on that thick plate frame. I added a 2" ball on it. You can leave it as is to allow for a pin-style hitch. Take care!
