That car wasn't going easy Big AL lol. No worries you made it back car in tow 🚘👍. I had a hub failure on a P.O.S trailer while towing a blk & gold 1987 5.7 IROC with a bad transmission around the early 90s. Needless to say, when I returned with another trailer ( stolen 😔) 3 hours later. Turned into an insurance claim for car & trailer. Glad you didn't have that kind of luck my friend 🚘🎬😎.
Another nice score. I always liked those Trofeos, even before I became a 3800 afficianado. They are like the Olds equivalent of a Buick LeSabre T-type. Can't say I'd want to own a convertible version though. Unloading the car and nursing the dolly home. That would have been my plan-B as soon as I saw the bad wheel bearing. Especially where you were less than 25 miles from home. Glad you were able to get the flat tire issue resolved. Knowing those space-savers fit the dolly, I would stockpile a few from the salvage yard.
AL! Notification just popped up, so streaming now. Hope the issues on the trip weren't too bad. I've been excited to see the Trofeo video since you first mentioned it.
What a mission! On the plus side least you had a great view out the rear view. Glad you both got back ok in the end Al, I'm sure once you get to working on the Trofeo you can laugh about it, although probably just keep it away from the white one.
At least I know now it is not just me that has days like this. Sebring convertible from an auction in west palm. 4 hours to get the trunk shut and empty of water. Get about 60 miles up I95 car starts jerking. Kept going and then it dies. Set on the side of the road and let it cool. It fires up enough to get to a motel. Then had to drive the car to a uhaul the next morning to make it home.
What a mess Lol! Been there you need a car trailer 18ft with a winch I got my new one before covid I keep 3 spares and bearings with me each time I use it. Cool car looking forward to the vids on it
The same thing happened on my trailer. I was replacing the mudguards and spun the hub without a wheel. My bearings were clicking. It's more work but you have to remove the wheel to check your bearings.
A friend was bringing home a huge luxury boat on a trailer. In a narrow curve he lost a wheel on his trailer. (Same problem with the wheel bearing). Of course the cops showed up within minutes.
In fact the 2005 to 2006 kadok escalade ESV platinum had an option for rear heated and cool seats front and he didn't include couples every well and very hard to find
Al, just a safety suggestion. In a situation like this you should not have your hazard light flashing. Drunk and tired people hone in on the flashing lights and will crash right into you. Any tow driver will tell you the same. I was almost not here for a similar situation. Luckily the driver pulled his steering wheel to the left and spun out to the left. He would have taken out all of us plus a gorgeous 1965 Cadillac Hearse as well as a 1959 Buick Electra convertible.
Bringing a car home can be a nightmare! Three years ago It took me an entire day. I had bought a very low mileage Grand Cherokee at quite a high price. One point was that this cars was strong enough to pull a heavy load. I rented a very good trailer. I lost a cover of the winch going to pick up a 1963 Chevy. Then I did load the old Chevy. The problem was, I had to bolt on the doors, put the windshield in the frame and strap everything up. The same with the rear window. Guess what: Within a mile after loading the Chevy the waterpump of the Jeep blew up. I crawled towards a friend's bodyhop. Letting the car cool off again and again. Then there was a very short tunnel under a railway lane. In this very tunnel the car stalled from overheating. People were going berserk. Luckily I could start again after 2 minutes. I made it to the shop. My insurance told me, that the Jeep would be brought home. But not the trailer with the car on it! I had to return the trailer the same night. So my friend was so nice that he looked for an old Suburban of a someone he knew. We drove 3 hours towards my home. Then we pushed the car into storage, returned the trailer and my poor friend had to drive all the way back! That was a LONG day for both of us. (I had had to wait 5 hours in his shop as he had urgent work to do on his client's car). I could never really repay this favour. This Jeep was a constant nightmare. On vacation the power steering gave up and I nearly made an accident leaving the highway. twice the rear brakes blocked completely. When I had the brakes "fixed" in Germany, the front brakes did not only block and get very hot but they were on fire! Then I nearly lost a wheel as the next mechanic who helped me fix the brakes all around did not tighten the wheel. The alloy wheel got destroyed because of that. This car was a complete nightmare and I sold it at a big loss. This shows me I am right being a GM guy.
Hey Al...It was a nightmare tho you do have all the luck...If that Sleeper had clipped you doing 70....I shudder t think...Keep up the grind we all thankyou for the Adventures! Shouts from London UK :D
