Malaria researcher Professor Alan Cowman, CSL Florey Medal winner

WEHI researcher Professor Alan Cowman AC has been awarded the CSL Florey Medal for his instrumental contributions in understanding how malaria infects and causes disease in humans.
Professor Cowman’s research has led to the development of potential vaccines, as well as new antimalarial compounds - the most needed preventative measures for the disease that kills hundreds of thousands of people each year.

Thank You and your team for all your dedication to this terrible parasite, I was a Corpsman for a MILPHAP medical team in Vietnam, as a multitasking member I one of which was laboratory tech, and had firsthand experience with helping diagnose this disease, it hurts to realize it remains resistant, again Thank You.
