Definitely going to miss this channel - but enjoying every last video we get before the end. Hope these will still be available to revisit in future when I need to chill out 😊
@@nicename5549 they put out a video a little while back saying it wasn't financially viable to keep the channel going, so they'll keep creating content for a while yet, but at some point soon they'll be posting their final video. Real shame but understandable.
So sad that this series will be coming to an end. If I may be so bold, I recommend the book, "Oxygen: the Molecule that Made the World", by Dr. Nick Lane. Even though it was published in 2002, it is a tour de force of the history, geology, geochemistry, biochemistry and evolution that produced oxygen in our atmosphere. And it still is remarkably up to date.
Journey to the Microcosmos, I'm sad to see you go but it's understandable with the circumstances. your team's videos have filled a hole in my heart i never knew i needed filled, and started my interest in these tiny beings. being able to see them so big and colorful on my screen has inspired me artistically more times than i can count, and i'm sure will continue to keep a burning flame of creativity ignited in my soul for as long as i'm around. I greatly appreciate all you've done for me.
@AkkarisFox They put out a video a few weeks ago saying the channel has been operating at a loss pretty much the whole time and its going to be over at the end of the year.

Pity everyone says the channel is going to end, it would have been nice if there had been some way to increase income, I owe a lot to this channel, I've gotten top grades on exams thanks to it i will cherish every video
Molecular oxygen is extremely rare in the universe, because it is so reactive. The entire reason Earth has as much oxygen as it does is due to photosynthetic microorganisms. Which is also a miracle that they've reduced CO2 content to virtually nil and are still able to live.
Oxygen is like a twenty dollar bill lying on the ground in public. They're EXTREMELY rare in nature because people so readily grab it up and claim it as their own, yet $20 are very common and lots of people are walking around with one.
My god! what kind of microscope IS this?! it looks kinda like phase-contrast microscopy, but it's so clear, with no prismatic aberration.... I NEED this thing in my life!
There’s an early video on when James got it (via a fundraiser on the channel). It’s such a high end device that it comes with a technician to set it up.
I must've missed the video where we were told that this channel is operating at a loss! I will most definitely miss this channel!!! It's fascinating but also calming. At least we'll be able to watch them in the future 😊
They keep reminding me of Christmas tree worms. They are beautiful. I recommend that everyone look them up. They're also tube worms and come in the most vibrant colours. I always think of tube worms as underwater flowers. That's what they look like to me.
Just hearing the channel is going silent at the end of the year and gotdaym that’s depressing. This is my fav channel and it seems like smart+chill basically doesn’t exist on RUclips. Honestly super upsetting
Both humans and the worms are simply tubes with fancy bits attached, looking for stuff to put on one end and places where to put what comes out the other.
God, I wish YT had a decent science funding program, acting as a science patron, or at least better promote videos like this. This channel absolutely deserves it. I'm sad beyond words that you have to stop producing content for this channel. I wish you all the best and I hope you'll maybe revisit this channel, once the wind blows more favourably. Godspeed.
I just discovered this Channel. Very sad to hear it's shutting down/being shut down. I don't know the reasons why, but hope this can be reversed. This would be a great resource for our public schools in the U.S. of America!
Please also include info ie Darkfield, Brightfield, DIC, Phase Contrast, Polarized etc...it would literally take seconds to type and really give us valuable additional info.
i think some serpulid worms also make that kind of tube! i’m still new to worm identification though. always nice to see polychaetes get some attention!
Is it just me, or is does anyone else find the Holophyra at 2:46 kind of cute and funny with part of it inside that old cuticle and what looks like its big, fat butt sticking out?
@hankschannel @Jam'sGerms please keep making these when you have time to, every episode is a delight and i, among many others will be sad to see these stop

Love you guys. Good job for all the hard work. I'd love to see Andrew Huang reacting to one of the videos and see for himself how well his music creates the perfect atmosphere
I'm banking on the fact that the "we are finishing" was just a funding push... and, either way, the makers will probably end up doing their own youtube videos so we can still gorge on this insanely tasty eye candy. :)

I remember a book in the 70s about an experiment in which planarías were cut in two parts AFTER learning a simple task. When both parts were regenerated (as two new worms), the both of them, the brain one and the other one, REMEMBERD the task. It was a hit that proved thar memory was not a brain affair. The title of the book was The Molecular Basis of Memory.
It's crazy that a channel with almost a million subs is calling it quits when such high end content is so rare.

They'll be continuing to release new videos until the end of the year.
I've been feeling the same every time I get a notification for a new video!
