Please see Regine's "What kind of fool am i" during her 20th anniversary. One of her best performances ever. The day you react to it is the day the reginians will celebrate in this channel.lol
Great reaction. Regine can do anything BUT she said she is not an R&B singer. She is a balladeer but she challenged herself and try different genres and there you have a great collab! Side note: Regine released her first album 1987. Her greatest musical influence, her ultimate international idol is Barbra Streisand. Just like Barbra Regine is not only an accomplished singer but a host and actress.
It almost sounded like the genres of their voices don’t fit in the same pocket. But it could also be just the lack of sound mixing. Their voices individually were impeccable so I think it’s the mixing.
Regine has collaborated with some of the most well acclaimed international male singers like Peabo Bryson, Jeffrey Osborne, Jackie Cheung, Paul Anka, obviously Brian McKnight, a Tenor (forgot his name) to name a few.
Familiar with both and Her duet with Brian was great. If im not mistaken they just practice twice for that song. Their voices complimeting each other. 😊 Wish you could react to Martin and Regine Broadway medley and Regine's What Kind Of Fool I am (wearing red dress) coz for sure we will gonna hear and learn a lot from those performances
More Regine Reaction please! Regine's Broadway Medley duet with Martin Nievera should be next. I swear, it's her best duet! Can't wait for y'all to be blown away with it: ruclips.net/video/51CyXFgbj_o/видео.html
I think that Regi developed more rasp As she got older. You’re not gonna hear it in older videos like this. She was younger here and sang with a clearer voice
Regine is a balladeer. More like Barbra Streisand, Sheena Easton, Olivia Newton John kind of a singer. Those are the singers she grew up listening to and singing their songs. BUT, since she is not that old, she had to keep up with the times when R&B became popular in the mid 90's, which explains the riffs and runs that she does. Though her vocal runs are legit, her tone still remains that of a balladeer. I think that made her unique and original back then when everyone tried to sound like Toni Braxton and Mariah.
@@Gemini530 Regine mentioned that she is also influenced by soul singers such as aretha franklin, pati labelle, chaka khan, irene cara, stevie wonder etc etc. She has been always influenced by soul music particularly r&b. Although she started as a balladeer but there's always r&b soul performnaces included in her repertoire. That's also the reason she never had challenges transitioning to riff singing. Also if you remember she won 1989 Asia Pacific singing contest, she sang "And I Am Telling You" from dreamgirls which is soul.
@ No need to be called a hater just by calling out she doesn’t sing live much. Die hard fans for over 20 years. Live is live, lip is lip. Backing track is backing track. She’s still MC and she set the standard for so many new, old artists 🤷🏻♂️
Hey Rozette @clubzeromedia, you had a beautiful performance of I'll Never Love Again, so maybe you could check out Regine's version of that song here ruclips.net/video/d3OuSBuy3fk/видео.html. She's a lot older in that performance with all of her vocal issues present; not to mention it was 3rd night of her concert, and she was already tired and hoarse, so you may be getting some of the rasps and "dirt" you are looking for. 😁 Fun fact: She had a few pieces of Valda pastilles in her mouth while singing. 🤣 I hope you could react to it soon. Thank you!
Mariah wrote Whenever You Call and it's in the Butterfly album, it's a solo and there's duet version too music.ruclips.net/video/SEfGIB75-8c/видео.html&si=sqhUcoBjOhJDsp9K
Regine never considered herself as an RnB vocalist, but producers wanted these types of songs just for the fact that she can belt and riff 😅 Regine is more of like Dion/Streisand-esk type of vocals. That's why it always sounds like a vocal mismatch whenever she sings RnB.
well to be fair, regine's main influences are also soul singers like stevie wonder, chaka khan, pati labelle, aretha franklin, earth wind & fire to name a few. She admitted she isn't a natural riff singer but she admires gospel vocals. She even said she wish she could have Jaya's vocals. I think that's why through the years she have been practicing techniques on how to riff until she can perfectly execute it.
I beg to disagree. Regine was famous in the Philippines even before Mariah Carey became famous there. She never copied Mariah Carey’s style, as her influence is Barbra Streisand.
A lot of regine's mid 90's are inspired by Mariah esp in live performances. Let's not pretend it isn't. Her butterfly concepts are Mariah's. She even copied designs like this Butterfly art from Mariah's music video breakdown in a lot of her r2k repertoire. But yes regine came on the scene first. Regine was also influenced by soul r&b artists like stevie wonder, aretha franklin, pati labelle, irene cara, chaka khan etc etc so it's no surprise she's inspired by Mariah too. It is obvious on the usage of riffs.
Thank you very much for your professional response to my comment. I was referring to her style of singing being influenced by Mariah Carey, but I disagree-Regine has her own unique style. I also appreciate your open-mindedness and respectful approach to different opinions.
@@doodslaron2715 her singing style is definitely influenced by Mariah Carey in late 90's onwards. She even add a breathy effect to her vocals which well on a positive note made her sound very "current" I can tell you all songs she sang in which exactly the same as Mariah Carey's riff. Regine has developed a sound she is know today because of incorporating singing styles from the artists she admires, Mariah Carey is a major major one of them.
I sent a comment on yor video never enough comments. Read my comment. I'm going to comment to check on Lea Salonga who played two princesses in Disney mulan and jasmine and won Tony Awards and Lawrence Oliver on her musical Miss Saigon and played Fontaine and Eponine in Les Miserables. She's better than you're giving comments. Philippines most acclaimed singer.
I think yours really good critics especially on vocals. Can you please react to Caloy Quemada singing. Thanks ruclips.net/video/5bJgesvS9Js/видео.htmlsi=Le1aHZtIHOUVCleR
