thanks for watching and subscribing mate. hope you enjoy the Zeph 2, my daughter loves wild camping, she isn't too keen on walking up hills so I have to pick the routes carefully. I think she'll probably build up to longer routes soon
+Fergs uK it's a great tent mate, only extra advise I'd give is make sure you don't pitch it too tight that the door is tricky to close. I have broken the zip on mine which is why I bought another tent, haven't got around the fixing it yet either. The zips were pretty poor quality back then I think but that was the only weakness I found in the years of use. Enjoy :-)
Will do, thanks bud. On my hiking and biking trips I've always been under a tarp. As you know a couple of those trips have been disastrous haha. So with a tent, at least I'll be a little more protected, well, thats the thinking anyway. Plus its another option to keep the bugs away. Got bitten to crap last meet at Silsden.
Hi Andrew, I've just checked and mine has 7 sections. Looks like you may need to take a section out or ask for a replacement. Pause this video at 1min 27sec and you can see both poles for the standard and light Zephyros.
Dean, excellent review, thanks. I have just bought one, and my initial thoughts on size are as follows: I am 6 ft 2 tall, and a big guy - this tent is way too small for me. I can lie on my back, but with the loft of the sleeping bag added, I'm touching both ends of the inner. I sleep on my side, and if I stick my elbow out to rest my head on it (to read a book) my head is on the roof of the inner, and this is without my 7cm mat and sleeping bag. Gazza.
I'm 6 foot and the Zephyros 1 is fine for me, you should be ok. I've had a look at the Zephyros 2 and its huge. Might be an option if you want to keep all your kit in the inner. I currently store mine in the porch.
I've been quized a lot recently about the Wild Country Zephyros and the Zephyros Lite. I've recorded this short video with a few Pitching Tips and a few Questions Answered. I'm by no means a pro so these are just tips I have been given and some I have learned myself :-)
Thanks a lot Taunton Leisure, I really like my Zephyros and I thought it was about time I got around to reviewing in on video. I've had it about 16 months now and it's still going strong. Thanks for sharing
Richard Hubbuck it would be money well spent. A great option if you need more space than you have in the bivvy, which I understand is not a one man tent :-) Phil Sorrell
It doesn't come with a covered porch sadly but I believe you can buy a footprint to go with the tent if you want. I think Terra Nova sell one for the Laser Competition which would also fit this. Failing that just get some cheap tarp :-)
It can definitely take a bit of wind, I've had it pitched in high winds before and it performed well. Sadly you would be unable to pitch just the inner, the inner attaches to the outer once that is pitched.
Hi Dean great review and very well videoed ! can I please ask if the internal height at the middle and the inside at the ends are the same for the Zeph 1 and the Zeph 1 Lite .
Hi Dean, I believe the dimensions are the same in all areas of both the Zeph 1 & Zeph 1 lite. I think it is just the fabric / materials that are the only difference
The flysheet doesn't have any vents on the Zephyros. One of the main difference between the standard Zephyros and the Terra Nova Laser Comp is the fabric, that is where the majority of the weight is different. Zephyros is Polyester & Laser is Nylon. The pegs, guy lines and poles are also cheaper versions on the Zephyros. In all it's about 600g heavier (from memory) but it is £200 cheaper :-)
Hi Simon! I'm also 6" 4" or a bit taller, did you get a zephyros 2 at the end? I'm picking mine up in a couple of days! What's your thoughts on the tent?
Hi Dean. Have just bought a 2016 Zephyros 2 and have a few questions. Firstly, do you leave the carbon end poles in when you pack the tent away; they are rather long on the Zephyros 2 and limit packing options. Secondly, do you leave the inner and fly connected when on the move? Cheers, love your Peak. District vids especially. Ian
+Ian McDowell Hi Ian. I use the end poles as a guide when rolling up the tent, I grab one and then just roll it all up around it. Also, I always leave the inner attached to the outer when packing away. I only really detach it when I want to clean it at home. They are really great tents so I hope you get many happy trips with it :-)
Great video, Am curious though, is it possible to somehow pitch just the inner? I live in Italy and the summer here is way too hot at night. You think it could take a little bit of wind too?
Great review, awesome that you take your daughter (I assume) backpacking. Il probably get the 2 person version of this tent for me and my girlfriend for backpacking trips. Thanks for uploading I'm now subscribed.
The end poles on the zephyros 2 are so long they make the tent virtually unpackage, thinking of buying a 1lite for cycle touring and wondering if the design has been altered. Many thanks A
Ignore my last comment.... I've never used the 2 so not sure how it compares against the 1 lite or standard Zephyros. I thought you meant bare the 2 x end poles different with 1 vs 1 lite :-) sorry about that.
I would have thought that the Zephyros 2 would have bigger end poles than the Zephyros 1 & 1 lite but it doesn't look that way on the Terra Nova website. If you head over and compare them it lists them both as having a height of 50cm at the ends so the end poles must be the same length
Excellent video Dean. Very professional production! Got a few questions on the Zephyros 1 which I bought last Summer for solo backpacking but have yet to use it. The reason I bought the Zephyros instead of its rivals was because of porch space (for cooking in inclement weather) and weight, but there seem to be a few minor niggles with the design which I want to pre-empt as far as I can. Door niggle: no means of securing it to stop it flapping when open. I put a guyline on the zip fastener with a clothes peg on the end to either weight it over the top of the tent or to roll and peg it. Have you got a solution or is it not a problem? Lack of bathtub on the groundsheet. Have you found this to be an issue? I've bought a footprint to overcome this but this adds to the overall weight. Lack of pockets on the inner. Any problems with this? Would value your comments. Thanks again for a very helpful video. Andrew
I usually just roll the door up and secure it using the little loop and hook but I do know of a few people who do what you do which is probably a better solution. I've not personally had an issue with the lack of bathtub inner, I've experienced some pretty wet conditions but thankfully never had any water get in. In regards to the pockets I think I'm one of those people that doesn't use them anyway really. I tend to leave a lot of my kit in the bag and I don't really take that much stuff out with me anyway. I think there is only 1 pocket on mine which is handy to chuck my phone in and a few bits but I do know friends who would require more than the Zephyros has.
Hi Dean, thanks for your videos! Do you think that the Zephyros 1 is too small for someone 6 foot 2 and 200 pounds ? I don't know if I should get the Zephyros 1 or the Zephyros 2.
Hi Dean, I've just bought a Zephyros 1 lite. I have a question about the 'red end poles' as the ones I have are different lengths (56cms & 45cms). Is that right? If not, which length is correct? If yes, which end does the longer pole go at? Thanks
Hi, trying to get a picture of the inside size difference between the 1 and 2. Would an average size man and his medium size Labrador fit nicely inside the 1 man or would you recommend the 2 man? Thanks
great video! One question, some online reviews state that the Zephyros (1, 2 and 2XL) doesn´t have a bathtub floor to prevent lekage from the sides. (only one side instead of al 4 sides). Is this true? and what´s you experience?
Hi there, sadly it doesn't have a complete bathtub floor system. I've camped in very wet conditions in the past and haven't had any issues. I must admit i've never pitched anywhere that has turned in to a deep puddle overnight as i've mainly been camping on moors or in forests. I was on a campsite once that got rather waterlogged over night and thankfully I didn't have any water leaking in.
Sanjin, I am your size (see my other post here), and I find this tent too small. Bear in mind the Zephyros 2 is wider inside, but the length (which is too short for me) is the same at the Zephyros 1. Plus, you lose a lot of porch space. Have you bought one yet? What do you think? Gazza.
could someone please tell me how many sections of pole their is for the zephros 1 tent? i am unable to set my tent up because it seems like the poles are 1 section too long. i have 8 sections on mine, is that normal?
Is this still your go-to tent, sir? I am in tent-search hell. I am looking for the holy grail: a budget-friendly light-weight 3- season tent that could also cope with the average U.K. winter. Heeeeelp!!! :)
No worries, if I'm honest I can't remember the difference between the Standard & Lite end poles :-( it's been so long since I used it and the Lite was my friends tent. I do remember the main middle pole packed down smaller but I'd have to go back through my images and check the end pole difference. Just looked on my website and I haven't posted a close up of those poles but I'll have a look when I get home
www.ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/equipment-c3/tents-shelters-c25/one-person-tents-c74/wild-country-tents-zephyros-1-lite-p1829 on this is website they mention they are changed bit vague though
i have watched this a few times i think its the best video of the zephyros tents on youtube
Thanks for watching
Top quality pitching tips & instructions on the zephyrs,I have a compact 2 and took a lot of tips from this vid , sound . Good lad.
Thanks for watching Neil, glad the video helped

Really handy vid. Just got a Zephy 1 for my bday off the Mrs so came to check out the vids again to brush up on tips. Can't wait to get out in it

+Fergs uK yeah defo worth having bug protection. I love Tarp and Bivvy but always get eaten alive in the Peaks this time of year if there is no breeze
Hi I just bought the Zephyros 2 and want to thank you. After pitching it I still had some questions.
Your explanation helped me a lot!!!
+Bushcraft nic hi Nic, thanks for watching and I hope you have many happy trips in the Zephyros. Mine is still going strong after 3 to 4 years
nice! thank you!
The first trip to Asia is already booked

If I was to buy a 1-man tent, it would be this one. I'm sure Phil Sorrell would agree...

@DeanRead what is that loop for at 3:45? it's not attached to anything and I can't see (On my own Zephvros) anywhere to attach it.
+lennie thomas Hi Lennie, I use that loop to roll the outer door up and hook it back out of the way. Thanks for watching
great vid and just bought one for Wales in 2 weeks, what head cam are u using - i like that to!!
thanks
nick
Hi Nick, I was using my GoPro Hero 3. It's an excellent bit of kit. Thanks for watching and I hope you have fun in Wales

Great vids!.Iam looking at getting my first tent to start wild camping. The Zephyros 2 is the top of my list,as iam 6"4 i think it would serve me well.
Hi Simon! I'm also 6" 4" or a bit taller, did you get a zephyros 2 at the end? I'm picking mine up in a couple of days! What's your thoughts on the tent?
I can lay flat out in the Zephyros 2.Its brilliant, plenty of room inside and light.
+Simon just collected mine, thanks for your quick response!
No worries.Enjoy

Great video wild country ( terranova) should give you tents to review !!
It does look like a cracking tent thanks
They should.... infact, everyone should send me freebies :-) Thanks for watching mate
Hi, trying to get a picture of the inside size difference between the 1 and 2. Would an average size man and his medium size Labrador fit nicely inside the 1 man or would you recommend the 2 man? Thanks
Hi Thomas, I'd probably recommend the 2 for you and your dog. You could fit in the 1 but I'd say it would be a squeeze :-)
Dean Read Thanks for reply. Ill have to made do with a few extra grams on my back then, cheers!
You will also lose a little bit of awning space on the two man version..

Hi are the 2 end poles reduced in size on the zephyros 1 lite?
As far as I remember everything about the size is the same, the poles are just made of a lighter material
I just found this- very very nive video! Thanks!

I'd say this is still a great tent for the price, you could also look at the Vango Banshee as that's is great value. I use a Luxe HexPeak now
Thank you that's really kind!
No problem at all, I'll have a look this evening and let you know if I manage to find a picture
It calls them collapsible end poles thanks for replying
