It's sometimes the most terrifying things that ends up being the best story ever 😛And if you start with a welcome tour, you meet new friends, who will make travelling way easier 🙂Hope you get to travel Australia one day!
My plan this year is to solo travel, but as a fellow introvert I’ve been low-key terrified by the idea because there’s this preconception that going to places like Australia and staying in hostels you’re going to encounter lots of extroverted people who want to go out clubbing etc all the time and frown upon those of us that prefer a quiet night in decompressing. It’s genuinely so motivating and inspiring to see you put yourself out there and so important that you share it with us so that we can see that introverts can be part of that life and not feel shame for our introverted tendencies while out there!! Thank you
I stayed in the same hostel 10 years ago and it is so great to see it again. I experienced similar things as you did (solo travelling, meeting friends, being ill, as well as the trips). To this date I love to think back to this time an cherish the memories. ❤
Which is funny since Dutch are some of the most rude people in Europe. Even Germans think they're too much lol. And the worst part is that they hide their rudeness and insolence as straightforwardness lol.
I have been contemplating a solo trip to Paris for a couple of days and it scares the shit out of me. As an Indian girl working abroad, it’s way out of my comfort zone. I have been there a couple times but always with friends. This kinda gives me confidence to go ahead and do it ♥️
Im so glad you did this Taz! Solo travelling is genuinely one of the greatest experiences I've had. yes, it can be scary but once you start meeting some people everything else just seems to fall into place. Some of my closest friends and ones I met when travelling.
Melbourne is the place I call home and I wish I could’ve seen you! But I’m glad you enjoyed Melbourne with the twist and turns. It’s nice to see you have culture shocks and the weather here is very unpredictable. But I’m glad you enjoyed it 😂
You inspire me so much to do new things, cook new things and plan solo trips. Thank you for being such a positive inspiration ❤ sending you love, light and laughter for 2024 xx
Love you're open minded video's taz you are a such an intelligent interesting woman i really look up to you taz you are one of the few youtubers that has reached 1 million that isn't totally toxic gina seems like a sweet person
It’s so weird seeing you in Melbourne after years of watching your videos, and having lived in the UK for a year myself! It really threw me at the end when you were all sitting in front of State Library, where I used to sit after school with my friends. So glad to you liked coming to Melbourne and visiting some of Victoria!
Also, as a local (and someone who’s done a trip like this in the UK) I’d say the itinerary looks alright! The only thing it’s really missing is visiting countryside Victoria, there’s a lot of great places to visit that aren’t on the coast. When you think of the Australian Outback you won’t get that kind of “typical Aussie” culture in Melbourne. Drive out to Beechworth, Benalla and Glenrowan to discover the story of bushranger/outlaw Ned Kelly and the infamous Kelly Brothers. You can see historical towns, some famous silo art, mining history, and go for a hike in the bush. Take the train to Bendigo for the weekend (via Castlemaine if you like art and the Melbourne culture) and you can go down an operating gold mine, go to the Chinese museum to learn about Chinese history dating back to the 1850s Gold Rush, and ride an old fashioned tram. From there you can take the train to Swan Hill (visit the recreated pioneer settlement) or to Echuca (historic border town on the Murray River). Do a day trip to the Dandenong Ranges and ride Puffing Billy, do a bushwalk or visit the Arboretums and the Botanic Gardens, have High Tea, and shop at local boutique stores. Our public transport is capped at $10 per day, no matter how far you go within Victoria, so it’s not expensive to travel out to regional towns.
the dry eyes could be contact dermatitis cause it does happen - and i went to Spain and had an insane eczema flare up and I had never had eczema before in my life so different environments impact your skin!
@@judybelight8041 For Taz? possibly i m not a medical professional so what do i know 😅 but i had similar skin symptoms that she described and it was eczema for me so i shared
It's the hostel sickness, where ever stay long term in hostels, everyone gets a little sick. 100s people using the same cooking utensils, 100s of hands on the bathroom doors, Toilet seats etc.
Could also be hay fever!! I’ve never had hay fever until I moved to Melbourne. The crazy northerly winds bring all the shit down from the rest of the country and it all blows into your face. Itchy eyes and tickly nose ughhhhh it’s horrible. I lived in Melbourne 17 years and now I’m in holland and no more hay fever.
That redhead is Dutch. That's Dutch directness that you're experiencing. You thought she was aggressive and she thought you were fake happy :) She speaks unappolagetic truths, even if they're blunt.
It’s always crazy seeing RUclipsrs come to Australia! You came in a time that’s not fantastic Australian weather though haha hope youve loved it and come back/stay longer to see more!
this is so inspiring, im such an introvert and really anxious and i wish i could do stuff like this. you seem like u had such a nice time n i hope u n gina are friends forever
Ugh. I Was wishing you would come to Australia. I was hoping i would be able to meet you and yes show you around. But i know you are cheeky enough to post about it after you leave.😅 Welcome to Straya. Hope you had a beautiful stay.
Taz, your immune system must've gotten a bit thrashed. Melbourne is the world's allergy capital for hayfever; temperate weather that make favourable conditions for pollen 🫠🤧 And you also came in the time Optus had a major screw-up with their so-called update. Should've used Woolies' sim cards (Telstra) 😅
Hahahhaa I remember the day optus went down for a few hours, I felt so connected with life 🤭 (I have telstra home internet and my partner also has telstra and I hotspotted his phone if we left the house) it was such a nice break from the internet and soical media felt so zen! ❤
I'm preparing to travel to another city by myself for Spring Break for the first time ever. I've been in the city countless times before so I know my way around a bit. And, I have family in the city. So I'm not too alone but I'm also excited to visit some places that I've been wanting too but haven't been able.
Hope you loved my hometown Melbourne! I moved to the US recently and miss Melbourne so much. One day you should come back and experience more! My wife 🏳🌈 and I still have so much more to see of Aus. Come with us one day! 😊
I have always thought that she should come to Australia, but also I think it would be very very cool if she came to Queensland as well but also visit Queensland in the spring time and visit Toowoomba for the Toowoomba carnival of flowers in September where all the parks are full of flowers
Woolworths still exists in Australia?? You might not know this Taz as it went out of business quite a few years ago, but Woolworths used to be a fixture on British high streets too. They sold books, newspapers, birthdays cards, and sweets and had a pick and mix section too. Went bust, or so I thought, but maybe they originally came from Australia, if they still exist there.
In the 2023 financial year, the Woolworths Group in Australia recognized a total net profit after tax of 1.72 billion Australian dollars. This represented an increase from the previous year, in which an NPAT of just over 1.5 billion Australian dollars was recorded.
I went to live with complete strangers for two weeks , twice, the first time was awful, the people were not at all ok but the second time I met awesome friends and I had a lot of fun. So we should keep trying sometimes !
Omg it sucks that you were here during the Optus outage that was like the first time anything like that has happened here and the country almost fell apart for 24hrs 😂. I’m guessing you went surfing at Torquay (that’s what it looks like to me) that Surf Coast area is one of my favourite places in the whole country (not that I’m too fond of Australia even though I’m Australian) and I’m not just saying that cause I’m Victorian. Solo travel is the absolute best I love it so much. Almost 2 years ago I solo travelled the US and it was the best thing I’ve ever done in my life and am itching to do it again!!
I stopped time by leaving someone alone going through life now always barely getting happy but always in lows I hate that I’m so compassionate I love her for years without seeing her for years I’m not built for this world or time line
Taz this was so wholesome I loved it! When will you have any merch in your store? I've been hoping to grab myself something for the new year for a while!!! I recently went on holiday and I thought going to the other side of the island to go horse riding on my own was scary haha! 🩷
I don't know if any of you we'll see this but I think its the perfect video to ask this : I'm going to London for the first time in a few weeks so I'd love to discover hidden gems of this city, if you know any please let me know
I can't really recommend anything as I've never explored London like that but yesterday I came across a place called bubble planet in London, it looks so nice I wanna go!
There are cat cafés in london. Ask google where the nearest to you is. I loved the souvenir shop of "Tate Modern". There are some Harry Potter related things, I want to see them next time.
Also Camden Town is interesting to look at. I'm curious if you already heard about my ideas because I was only a tourist back then and these were all new to me 🤗
Did you have some kind of bite? Allergic reaction to anything could have caused the eyes and the migraine. You're in a whole new ecosystem. There's poisonous stuff out there too. But mosquito bites and ticks are also going to be a concern. You know what a tick bite looks like, right!? Big ring.

I love how even as an introvert, you still bond deeply with complete strangers. I can somewhat relate to that
For me it's usually because they don't know me and will probably not judge me.
@@anyrahamat Yes!! I feel the same. I feel free knowing that I don't have to meet any expectations because they don't know me and can't judge
@@ItsThaisM Exactly! This is the spirit ;-P
For me its for the fact i won't meet them again😅
Have you tried using an eSIM while traveling? Makes connecting so much easier. Would love to know if anyone’s tried SimCorner yet!
As a fellow introvert this trip sounds terrifying. It would have been cool to hear where everyone was from 😊

I'm too introverted for this. After 2 days I need a week of recharge. But it looks so fun 🥺
As a Dutchy, I love how you connected with another Dutchy the most.

it was formly Safeway, rebought to woolworths
Woolies (as we call it) is one of the two main grocery stores in Australia. They’re everywhere
also in south africa
I love that you got the authentic Aussie internet/data experience.
This is amazing, Taz! I love your channel and your adventures and content!
Love this SO much, I’ve just booked to move to Aus, having never been before and booked a tour like this one! So this video is very reassuring 😅
You’re in Australia!! Come to Tassie! I’d love to tour you around!
I did the opposite last year! Perth to London, 3 hours and largely hostel life! Loved it. Hope you had fun in aus 🥰
I’m just back from Melbourne on Friday 😂I miss it already 😢
So happy you had fun in my lovely country.
Space Hotel is one of my fave hostels in melbourne! Always stay there for when I have concerts on and so cheap!
No but you’ve made friends for life there they seem so sweet 🥺

WELCOME TO AUSTRALIA XXX
Gina sounds so lovely
You went to adult sleep away camp. LoL. Glad you had fun.
Hello from down under!
Did you have some kind of bite? Allergic reaction to anything could have caused the eyes and the migraine. You're in a whole new ecosystem. There's poisonous stuff out there too. But mosquito bites and ticks are also going to be a concern. You know what a tick bite looks like, right!? Big ring.
I've been to that hotel too!
You have to come back and visit the gold coast.
Was this during the Optus outage in November?! 😂 so glad not with Optus.
you go girl 🎉🤘🙌
I love that for you.
Omg praying I see u
