    It’s not just Spain. Most of the European continent did not catch on with Tea. Coffee got more popular at same time and caught on

    You should do an episode about how coffee used to slaves for its entire production. It is truly a blood beverage and nobody in the coffee industry ever talks about it. Because they don’t want us to know.

    Fascinating that you could incorporate mercantilism into a Tea channel. Love your breadth of history knowledge. Was your degree in history?

    The way I look at it is it wherever England had colonies, Tea caught on. So the bigger question is why did Tea catch on in England and not in Spain or Portugal who also had overseas colonies?

    • @greenteahousetx
      @greenteahousetx  2 дня назад

      Too expensive for them and they never intended to grow it on their colonies. Plus mercantilism

    here is my take. Spanish and portuguese in New world didn't really drink it since it wasn't popular in Spain and Portugal. Plus the stench of anything British would have repelled them from embracing it since they were enemies
