I assume this is a mod he's using? I need to look into that because I agree that I wish Sekiro had more customization. IMO not having main weapon weapon and armor/outfit customization is the biggest flaw to the game. It makes the NG playthroughs more boring than other From games.

RookieN08 well yeah but my point was that that happened because he deflected the shuriken, the game seems to place you directly in front of the enemy you just deflected if you manage to break their posture with said deflect. there just aren’t many times where you will end up breaking posture by deflecting a ranged attack though, so most people don’t notice it

Combat arts in general is something I feel that doesn't get much love from the community unless it's mortal draw, ichimonji double or high Monk. There's a lot of cool stuff in the combat arts but the reason why people don't show love for it is i guess because if x already works why change it mentality. I really wish combat arts were like part of your moveset rather than a skill you have to equip. That way you could have all of them tied to different button combinations and make combat way more dynamic and engaging.

Owl can't do mikiri counter if he's in recovery. Ongbal knew that and used it specifically when he was in recovery state. If owl is in neutral state, he'll do mikiri everytime you do thrust otherwise.
I keep saying this in every single Sekiro based media and even on Reddit: Ashina cross is fucking absolutely a big deal. It makes boss fight hugely insignificant. I even used it during the two ape bosses lol. It’s just so fucking gorgeous and good.
I parried him to death too. The trick is to parry everything and attack him when he does his overhead slash and at the end of the 4 hit combo. Great fight.
This looks like a walk in the park. Damn those perfect deflections. I almost wet myself when I don't hold the blocking button in this fight. Triying to just hit deflect takes me out in 20 secs maximum. Didn't know though that the posture bar of Sekiro also builds if he can do perfect deflections.

Ashina cross done by in game bosses - kills you in 2 hits at max heath. Ashina cross done by you...takes off 1/8 of health. I get that wolf is a small guy but he seems to have no ability to take hits.
My only real gripe with Sekiro's version is that it's not as good looking as the ones done by Isshin or Emma (it's just a short one-two instead of the fast yet larger one-two slash done by the others). The relative "weakness" to it is pretty understandable given the theme

Cross obviously, cuz ichi literally is the opposite of it (in terms of game balance) - its supposed to be used to break posture, while cross - to damage vitality. You can try it, and youll see that ashina cross, when blocked, looks useless (while ichi can stun almost everything, even when blocked). Thats the reason why its so good against Owl - his weak moves, when he opens, are obvious, memorable, and there plenty of them. You should just hit them to a foolest potential. Like, with ashina cross)
Ichimonji does more posture damage. Ashina cross does mediocre health and posture. Honestly your katana is just straight up better. It also costs 2 spirit emblems.

As long as you perfectly deflect (signaled by the orange sparks coming off your blade) then your posture will never break. Because ONGBALL deflects everything perfectly, his posture never breaks. :)

If you can deflect each hit perfectly , ur posture wont break. This requires high skill(practice).
