This is so cool, thanks for doing this review, I like the new parts that they included with this one. I agree with you on the roundels, they are quite dark, but at least they are in good resister. I hadn't thought of that but yeah, Finland isn't Scandanavian. I'm sure that one slipped in translation :) I'm really looking forward to seeing this one completed :D
Mixing Finland up with Scandinavia is a common mishap. It can be confusing, but generally the definition is by the countries that share very similar language, i.e Sweden, Norway and Denmark. I hope to get the Draken going soon, I just need to finish the Dingo and then I may build something else for the Recon build, before I attempt the Draken.. :)
Looks like a great and highly detailed kit, you are definitely going to have some fun building this aircraft. Nice unboxing Rob, thanks for sharing, take care and keep up the good work my friend.
A nice jet, Rob. I think, the Draken is a plane which you really enjoy to build. I wish you much fun and a good inspiration for a great result. All the best, Joachim
I have only built 15 or so Drakens already.. Mind you, they are all in 1/72! This is the first one I am doing in 1/48. But it won't be my last.. hopefully! :)
...and the kits are not all that bad, either.. with the odd exemption! Shame Norway never bought the Draken, following the example of the rest of Scandinavia and Finland! :)
@@BasicModelling Yes indeed that is a shame. No use trying to keep close ties with far away USA. If conflict arise, we have to trust our next door neighbours for help, not some superpower an ocean away. The political elite has become americanized, but at what cost?
@@Starfishscalemodeling Very nice... I have only built about 16 Drakens.. so far.. but not the Austrian Red / White version, I did the black Austrian Draken and a standard 2-tone grey camo version with the red day-glo numbers. Together with 3 Danish Drakens, 1 Finnish and a bunch of Swedish ones.. all in 1/72.
@@Starfishscalemodeling Hasegawa is the best in 1/72.. or if you can find the Revell re-boxed Hasegawa kit, but it is getting very rare. Airfix is old, but with a bit of work can turn out ok. Heller is a rare kit, not too bad and you can build a 2-seat version.. but it is also getting harder and harder to find. I built my Danish 2-seater using parts from the Heller kit added to the Hasegawa fuselage.. :) Stay well clear of the EARLY Revell kit and any kits from Poland. Can't remember the brand name now, but they are NOT very good.. I found out the hard way. There are also a couple of resin kits of the Lill-Draken test bed aircraft, expensive but ok for a resin kit. :)
He is 1/144 scale (a big dog!!) You can get after market decals for Swedish insignia and IF I decide not to use the kit decals, that is probably what I will do.. There is probably nothing wrong with the shade, it is just me being a bit fussy. :)
I think hasegawa box art is top notch
Yes, especially when it is a Draken on the box.. ;)
There are some nice books available, with paintings by Shigeo Koike, Hasegawa's artist.
Nice kit you choose Rob ... looking forward to follow your build :-) ... cheers Markus
Thank you, Markus.. so am I! The Draken is one of my favourite aircraft, all categories.. :)

Hasegawa, the maker of beautiful model kit boxes ;-)

Nice. Seems you're gonna enjoy building this
I hope so. From what I have heard it will require some filler, but that is not unusual with any model kit, really.. ;) Thank you.. :)
Looks like a great kit. 👍 I have the 1/72 version. 😁
The 1/72 kit is very good, I have built quite a few of those.. but this is the first time I will attempt to build a Draken in 1/48.. :)
@@BasicModelling good luck! Looking forward to your build video.
Oooo, "Rollerball" music.
Never knew that.. :) Now I have to go and google 'rollerball'.. ;)
I just ordered the Swedish paint set for my Viggen. Maybe I should get a Draken too...
I would... ;)
@@BasicModelling I already built one in the red-white-red scheme of Austria....

Scandinavian Draken, isn’t that like saying “German Messerschmitt” 👀
Yes, in as much as not all Drakens were Scandinavian.. and not all Messerschmitts were made in, or used by Germany.. ;)
@@BasicModelling that thought had occured to me, too 😉 Love the box art on this one, looks good enough to frame & put on the wall
@@BasicModelling the Swiss version, of the 109, comes to mind. 😁
@@joeshmoe9978 They were still made in Germany, though. Sold to Switzerland.

whats the name of this music!?
