I notice a theme whenever Conan interviews a musician. There’s a humbleness and a genuine sense of appreciation in what a musician does. He rarely jokes around and is actually interested in the craft of music making and would rather let the musician speak fully than try to act like he knows more. Conan really needs to become a music writer or a music journalist because his knowledge and love of music is evident.
As a person who has taught in public schools, it definitely feels like a near universal experience where the outside world somehow thinks the teaching and the students are the hard part of the job, but the person who teaches will almost never confirm this and knows that it's usually all the other stuff surrounding it. The students and the teaching are what makes it worth it and it's your motivation to continue putting up with everything else, and if you leave it, that's the part you really miss.
Conan's honest and candid observation @ 9:43: "I think [having] kids changes you. It changes you so much. There's a while where you think, 'Wait a minute, is it "be creative versus be happy"?' And then it turns out, 'Well no, that's ridiculous.' There's a way to be- there's a way to do both. It just comes in so many different forms. But when I'm not creative or I do work I don't like, now I can blame my children."
"Me and my cousins and you and your cousins", is one of the weirdest and most beautiful lines in music haha, it gets stuck in my head all of the time still
As a 29 year old songwriter/producer, I sometimes think that I'm aging out of it. But Vampire Weekend kind of gives me hope that I can mature and still make some new and exciting music as I get older.
The difference with rock bands is that the farther you get away from your 20s, the less your music might relate to the audience....hard to be that rebellious rock star in your 40s, after you made millions, are married with kids. You don't get a lot of leeway after your 20s
There's a little group that hates this band so much, they made a song called "werewolf fortnight" just to spite them, lol. It was a good song, too! It's on Spotify
man from the very get go you can just tell this dude has absolutely f***ing ZERO humor and the English teacher thing just reaffirmed it 😭 it's a comedy podcast ffs they're just making jokes not literal commentary, I vividly remember actually falling asleep standing watching this band live in a festival and now it all just makes sense boring ahh dude
Fuq Vampire Weekend for enabling hipsters everywhere to live unafraid out in the open with their bike locks wedged into the back pockets of their women’s skinny jeans.

Conan told Quinta Brunson he would try to help public schoolteachers. Now he has an eighth grade English teacher on, how sweet. Promise kept!!

He's older than 30!?!? Dude barely looks 20
I Like Ezra's podcast on Apple Music but I just can't get into the band not my kind of music.
I’m happy he and his bandmates are successful, but Horchata is possibly the most annoying song not by Phoenix
So, who's better? Him or Ezra?
never heard of the band 🤔
Then you are probably over 45. This is what the kids were listening to 18 years ago.
There's a little group that hates this band so much, they made a song called "werewolf fortnight" just to spite them, lol. It was a good song, too! It's on Spotify
VW being the target of a diss track is hilarious 😂
Ngl i thought this was Mitchell Musso
Wtf lmaoooo
