Recently there has been a surge of abilities known to last forever under certain conditions. Today I wanted to discuss Infinite Duration Abilities and how among "overpowered" abilities they're the most fairly made.

Yorick's ultimate is an infinite ability, no conditions.
true but it’s also got a stupidly long cool down if it’s killed and the maiden AI can be really stupid sometimes
technically true, but if we follow that line of logic, wouldn't heimer turrets and yorick ghouls also be infinite abilities?
I think Vars missed a point about how it's cooldown can be bypassed by enough duration.
autos are technically infinite too 🤓

Beat me to it lmao, Morde passive does a non negotiable amount of constant damage and a good amount of MS, if Vars considers Darius passive as part of this group he should've included Morde passive

Swain e is so bad that if you can’t dodge it even with raylais your just bad. Yes some cases sure. But the fact that you need an item to land his main engage tool is dumb. Imagine if naut can’t hook until first item. I can’t wait for his rework.

If Darius passive counts then Irelia's passive should count as infinite too, same for garen's passive
Well in that case, Morde, Wukong and Jax passive should be included as well. And many more.
Morde is count for infinite duration but i think the other not, the reason is jax,irelia and wukong got stat before they reach max stat so what they do is just increase stat.but for morde and darius they need to attack few time before they passive to active and then they need to attack to extended the duration.
technically every passive passive is an infinite duration ability that can only be countered by Death, making Death the best form of CC no contest.

Pretty sure Shyvana's dragon form with ult, is infinite, so long as you got something to attack.
Well, you need Rank 3 R, 2,5 Attack Speed and a target standing still to pull that off

@@decidueyezealot8611 She's not that far off I feel. She needs a new and better passive instead of a really low power armour/mr buff with every drake killed but is kinda fine other than that.
I love the vid but i find the distinction hard to make, what makes darius hemorage a infinite duration ability but not morde passive, or jax passive, or lillia passive, irelia passive ect.

I think he's separating them because when darius gets full stacks he gets a sort of second passive, that being noxian might, while others don't get any extra buff other than the one said stacks provide.

Honestly I wouldn’t put Darius on this list, not because it doesn’t technically count but because adding him to the list opens a HUGE can of worms as to what defines an “infinite duration” ability. What about X-hit passives like Kaisa and Vayne? What about offensive stat buffs like Jax, Irelia and Mordekaiser? What about abilities that can be deactivated by the enemy team but don’t apply direct pressure in fights, like Evelynn? The term “infinite duration” is so broad in this case that it loses almost all of its meaning.
Someone said darius may count because of noxian might, the passive of hemorrhage. It puts him in an infinite state of might as kong as he keeps attacking.
@@keeganhand1915 Right, like I said, he technically counts, but it’s really hard to define what “infinite duration” means if so many abilities fall into that category.

thank you mr. varus! very good video! I think RYZE would benefit from this type of spell, making him enter the RUNE STATE and empowering his famous EQ blast.
He used to have a "Super Sayin" spell; Desperate power, gave him MS and spell vamp, and turned all his spells into splash AoE
He has had 5 or so reworks tho XD
I wouldn't say it's infinite duration, more like indefinite duration. It will last as long as a certain condition is met, but it does not last forever.
Neeko's passive is also technically an infinite duration ability.
Not only because she can be disguised forever, but also because she gets the benefit of dodging/avoiding damage via not being affected by it (Jinx rocket when she's disguised as a minion) or directly not being targeted (turret shots when she's disguised as a ward).
I love it when my dip stick partner in arena just sits in Swain ult for the whole round.
Aphelios Chakram stacks are infinite duration kinda (you can stack up to 20 and if you are using the off hand auto conditions when using other spells you're not limited by 50 ammo technically) you need to stay in combat with the white gun to keep the stacks, but the stacks are also objects themselves so if you have 20 (max stacks) and yasuo, braum or samira walls your white auto you lose them all.
Shyvana’s ult fits as a steroid ult and forever ability. With enough attack speed and ability haste, you generate fury fast enough to stay a dragon indefinitely. (Haste matters for your Q, it’s 2 autos so it generates double fury)
i remember a clash in wich i picked jarvan supp only because the enemy team had an olaf, every time olaf ulted i ulted him and jumped out with q+e, infinite abilities are probably the kinda ones that motivate you to play outside the box, by far the best design in league

Swain ult being made infinite was the dumbest most unnecessary buff ever added in recent seasons

At 11:10 you talk about swain being 130% , while syndra drops to 100%,so swain has more pressure. I don't think it matters that much. when swain is even at 150%, he can be one shot by sundra standard combo. So, I think it is balanced on, not the ability itself, but the entire champion being much weaker until he reaches a certain thresold of power, for example, swain reaching 190% before he actually becomes a champion. Similarly, Darius basically has no passive till he reaches the fifth stack, and so on.
I'd argue that another aspect an infinite duration ability that differs from toggles (and things like darius passive) for example, is that it's not ADDED damage. Instead it makes the champion do more damage because it's SUPPLEMENTED. Darius passive isn't infinite duration considering that it only ADDS damage to his kit, not supplements it; while Olaf ult allows him to do more damage BECAUSE of its infinite duration, therefore it supplements his damage. Swain ult, same thing, allows him to live longer in order to do more damage over time; zeri chain autos supplements her inability to shoot through targets, be able to kite easier with the movement speed, and thus makes it easier to do more damage.
It's about how the duration makes the champion do more damage, not about how the duration does damage and I think that is what should determine what is considered an "infinite duration" ability.
Ashe passive would be a much better example than darius passive. For Ashe she does more damage because she slows enemies down so long as she's attacking the enemy. Both passives have the same conditions to meet - attack the enemy - yet one only adds damage (and in itself darius passive is a condition for his ultimate too some could argue), while the other allows the champion to do more damage because of the duration of the passive.
My team's AFK is infinite.

Then there's arena., where, even if an infinite ability is properly baited and punished, it comes back up thanks to plants, just in time for the fire circle to close in.

great vid as always. i think though passives that can be applied infinitely should be in a different classification. as a few said darius and morde have similar passives with up time, lillia as long as she can hit you with something, to similar extent id say Kayles passive is inifinite and i do mean prior to lvl 16 as long as she autos anything. ASOL Q is also infinite once its maxed. I also really hate briars Ult its so effin obnoxious with only counter play is dodging the R entirely or kill her which is hard to do for most champs.
Asol q wouldn’t count cuz it uses mana although he has said mord passive would count he just forgot
The counterplay to Briar's R is that she runs in a straight line towards you. Very easy to line up skillshots or flash over a wall.

You gave an idea for Renekton’s ult, so it’s only fair that I give an idea for Nasus. Maybe he could extend his ult by stacking. Lol that’s too op though, his stacking would get wayyyy out of control
Zeri's infinite speed is not real, it can wear off by just whiffing a singular Q
if master yi could lane effectively on top
you would want to avoid him when E is up and retaliate when it's off
bel veth, on the other hand, can stack true damage on you with no downtime

How about Draven's juggling? You can say lots of the same things about his axes in the air as you do with these other abilities.
Only ability on this list that I hate is Briar's.
If this hits you in a 1v1. She can literally unplug her mouse and keyboard and still kill you. Even if you have a gold lead on her, it gives her so many raw stats some champions can neither run from her nor fight her in that state.
That's the point of her entire kit. Pay attention to the global atomic Sound effect that plays and just stand out of the way for a few seconds so you don't get an overpowered vampire exploding on your ass
people saying that if darius counts so jax lillia and other shit should aswell dont really get the point. It's not about the bleed we are talking about, its about the ad buff he gets as long as the passive is running.
jax and lillia get stacks and thats about it, darius gets a bonus effect (bonus ad) just like olaf gets unstoppable. it is different from the rest of the list but with a few others its the only one that can fit the description.
I find them pretty fine, I mean in this high damage meta it not like they can just slam their face into the enemy team willy nilly and get value if the enemy team knows what they are doing. Well maybe Darius can cause that bugger can build beefy and still knock your head off, but that's always been his thing.

I don’t think passives should count in this. If we do then briar passive, morde passive, sivir passive, Ashe passive, etc., are all infinite duration abilities.
Would that not also classify ramping passives as well? Another one I can think of off the top of my head would be Jax passive, which using the logic in Darius passive, could last forever if he keeps auto attacking.

Try playing other mobas, They're so bland. not shilling League but I give credit where they're due. LIke infinite stacks, infinite duration, barely any memes in other mobas cause they're so simple.
The few things I want League have: Bash system, BKB and Satanic.
