    Congrats on the ray there Gareth, a lovely reward for your patience. I find Goldcliff hard at the best of times, to be fair. I was surprised that no spring codling put an appearance because the crabs are well into their moult now but that’s fishing. Another top notch video mate👍

    Hi Gareth. I lived in Newport for 50 years before moving to Pembrokeshire. Really great to see all the venues that I wasted most of youth at! Memories eh. Fishing down here not good. Fished Freshwater East the other day, trawler 200 metres offshore, taking everything. Though as you say, just great to be out. Thanks for the videos mate, I realise the effort that goes into the production.

    • @riversidewithme
      @riversidewithme  Год назад

      I'm pleased to hear that the videos are bringing back some good memories for you Nick. Nice part of the world is Pembrokeshire, although I've not done much fishing down that way. Yes the fishing is nowhere near as good as it used to be, trawlers have had the lot and I cannot believe that it's allowed to carry on, disgusting. I caught more fish when I was 10 years of age than I do now but I still go as it's my main form of therapy. Cheers for watching, much appreciated 👍👍

    Another fantastic video. Beautiful scenery and cracking fishing. I've been brought up on the fishing saying. When the winds in the south baits in the mouth, winds in the north the fish clear off, winds in the east fish bite the least, wind's in the west the fish bite the best. Lol. Looking forward to seeing more. Kind regards to the family

      @@riversidewithme I was living in Haverfordwest for few years working as a chef I had 2 weeks holiday to take so I thought I'm gona hit a few marks along the south coast as I had never caught a blonde Ray or spotted. I ended up in Barry as I knew from a few people I follow on Facebook there is a number of marks that produce good blondes. Places like friers and the white light. I spent just under 2 weeks there with a easterly blowing 20 to 30mph everyday. The last day the wind changed but I think every angler in South Wales had been waiting for it. Every mark I went to was packed. I ended up fishing almost in the same spot you fish directly across from the white light. 3 hours of not even a bite and then the straps came on the feed just around high tide. Had 5 in total. I packed up and started the long walk back towards friers happy enough that I hadn't blanked. But I still had a bait left and friers was starting to empty. So I made my way out to the end tide was dropping fast. I fished down from the stinky hole a good 100 yards as it was big tides that day so it fell fast and a long way. I Wasn't expecting to catch anything to he honest but my bait must of been in the water no more than 5 minutes and I had a cracking bite. 2 and half pound spotty I was over moon I ended up with 4 all around the same size. But that blonde still managed to allude me. I suppose it gives a reason to go back and try again.

    Nice to see you back at Goldcliff Gareth such a wonderful mark even with the tough fishing, so nice to see a fish being caught from the mark as well and to be a ray of that quality is always a bonus might make a trip there on monday but it may be busy with the bank holiday but may be worth a crack. Where do you get your fresh ragworm from? I always struggle to get it unless I travel further down the welsh side of the channel or if I go to the english side. Many thanks as always for your efforts into the videos Gareth they really do make an excellent watch, have a great weekend mate

      Thank you Finley, it was great to be back on the mud and the Ray at the end was a very welcome sight, beautiful markings on it. Yes it's a nice size tide for down there on Monday, although as you say it may be a little busy with it being the bank holiday. Could be worth getting there early and walking to the left of where I was in this video so that you're on the end of the point, then you shouldn't get anyone to your left. I get my ragworm from Cwmbran Angling as I live fairly close to it. Steve the owner usually has plenty in over the weekend although I sometimes ring and book it. I popped in this morning and he was saying that he's sold loads due to it being the bank holiday weekend and he may run out unfortunately. I'm pleased to hear that you're enjoying the videos, I'll keep going for now and hopefully more to come. You too mate, enjoy it...tight lines 👍👍

      @@riversidewithme yeah it'll be definitely be worth giving it a go and getting there earlier as you say, is that all the way down to the pink house or is it just before there?

    • @riversidewithme
      @riversidewithme  Год назад

      @@finleytye3096 It's before the Pink House. Literally another 40 second walk or so to the left of where I was in this video, until you come to the bit of seawall that sticks out (like a point). Then the seawall starts to cut inland to form a bay. So you can fish on that point and hopefully no one will be to your left as the tide is too small to fish that little bay 👍

    HI,another great video,have not fished gold cliff since i was in my teens when my brother in law used to take me,its now 40 years on and was wondering where do you park for fishing there,many thanks in advance.

      Thank you Tris, much appreciated. Ah right, 40 years is a long time and so I guess it would be good to give it another go. You park on the road next to the Seawall Tearooms, postcode is NP18 2PH, plenty of parking available and it's right next to the seawall steps. Where I was in this video is a 10/12 minute walk. Hope that helps, cheers for watching 👍👍

      Thank you Scott. Yes I think so, as soon as I saw it I had a feeling it wasn't that far off 10lbs. A tough session but that's what I expected to be honest. Good luck down at the Knap today, hopefully there'll be a few fish about, you'll have to let me know how you get on. Cheers as always, tight lines 👍👍

    Love these vids, feel like we're taking part. Keep them coming. Did you find as you got older you wanted to save these beautiful creatures more than when you were young or were you always like that?

    • @riversidewithme

      Thank you Jeff, I appreciate it. Not always easy but I try my best to make a relaxing watch. I think I've always been quite conservation minded, although I did used to take more fish for the table when I was younger, whereas nowadays I return pretty much everything. So yes, I guess I've changed with age and fish welfare has become even more important to me. Cheers as always, enjoy the bank holiday weekend 👍👍
