They're really front heavy though, very unbalanced. No mass to the stock, with additional mass added to the front with the gas block and external op rod. Even the SBRs feel that way, and get worse with lights and IR laser/illuminators.

Now I can use it on the lowest setting and it still shoots under any condition I throw at it...I left it out in the rain and snow for 2 weeks..(don't ask how that happened please lol) but it was full of carbon caked chamber and piston for shooting strictly suppressed for over 4 years. @@KeterMalkuth It's not it being a Sig can, it's the TYPE of can that it is. The one he's using is designed to keep the back pressure down and to keep the gas pressure out of the shooters face, which is nice but you lose some decibel reduction and sometimes a bit of flash reduction. (depends on how good the can is made but just like anything else there's trade offs) meaning you are putting less pressure back into the system for the recoil to do its job in cycling the action. Since it's a piston system the interaction is right next to the barrel so it's less of a problem then direct impingement where it needs to travel all the way to the bolt before it can start the cycle action. These types of can just started becoming popular in recent years. Most cans put MORE back pressure into the system. More wear and tear on parts, more gas in shooters face, guns get super dirty and caked in unburnt powder, carbon, pretty quickly. @@magnusred2945 It’s not that heavy, if you ever handled the original Mcx the spear will be lighter. If you want something a lot lighter , the scar 16s or Bren 2 are light. The scar is the lightest of the bunch because of the pencil thin barrel and almost no front rail.

Hey Aaron; this is the best review on this rifle I’ve seen so far, great job! I have one question; would you pick the Sig or a PWS with a LAW folder? I’m asking you this specifically since you have so much experience with the PWS?
I prefer PWS. I have a PWS and a virtus. PWS beats it in everything besides having a folding stock. But I don’t see the necessity in a folding stock. I would never shoot a rifle while folded. The PWS is lighter, better suppressed, and better recoil impulse. MCX is to gassy.
Adam, I have a very reliable Bren 2 in 9". 7.62 x 39. Would you if you were I sell it to get a Spear LT ? Also, is the Spear LT wirth the 2800.00 they are asking for them now. Thanks for the Vid, great stuff. Love this channel mate.
Hey Aaron, regarding the ejection - could it be that the ejection pattern is different because auf the shell deflector design and material? Looks to me like it's steeper than on an AR15 and made out of polymer? Otherwise like always a great video, thank you and best regards from austria!
Off topic, but I’ve always wondered who cleans up your brass. You either spend hours cleaning up after each range day or have some rug rats that you have do it for chores money.
Aaron, if your looking for a serious 7.62x39 gun, check out the XCR. Big bolt, lots of gas adjustment and a better bolt catch/release. The problem with the spear-lt 7.62 is the bolt wall thickness - it's the same as standard AR bolts at 0.033"; which doesn't provide a long bolt life. Unless sig is doing some magic with the metallurgy, something to keep in mind.
This is the LIGHT version of the SPEAR called the Spear LT not the civilian version of the Spear. The LT version is a multi caliber platform chambered in 5.56, 7.62, and .300BLK (11.5’” and 16” in 5.56 and 7.62x39, 9" in .300BLK). SIG Sauer is releasing the BIG SPEAR in .308 and 6.5 Needmore 😂 in the com9ng months. I got this info DIRECTLY from Sig at their Range Day in Vegas right before ShotSHOW
@@SageDynamics Awesome. I picked up the LT in 7.62 and 5.56 with EOTech EXPS3 and ATACR 1-8 glass. I want to come through GA to get some training with you guys. I’ll reach out to you guys. You’ll know it’s me because my nickname is TallGuy. Former deployed Fed Govt asset.
But my point still remains. The LT isn’t a civilian version it’s the light version akin to how FN does with their “light and heavy” versions of the SCAR, and HK does with their “light and heavy” versions of the HK16 and HK17.
I have both as well but the PWS is superior. My virtus won’t lock back on the last round while suppressed in either setting. PWS has no problem and isn’t as gassy.
Would like to have the spear lt. But being that I’m a poor, I went with a Psa Jakl. Id love to see you get your hands on a Jakl and beat the piss out of it.
I have a PWS and a virtus. The PWS blows it out of the water. My virtus won’t lock back on the last round while suppressed on either gas setting and is way to gassy suppressed. The PWS is lighter and has a better recoil impulse to me. And more gas settings.
Would love to see the 7.62x39 version test. It's .300blk on steroids - for a much lower price. However, i am very skeptical. Not because i don't trust Sig, but because i don't trust 7.62x39 in AR pattern magazines. The glorious banana magazine is banana shaped for a reason. And magazines are one of the most common failure inducers in semiauto rifles.
7.62x39 is still a good jack of all trades cartridge. I think the round gets a lot of criticism because of the older AKM's that have parts loosened up over time, which can mess with long-range accuracy.
Duramag mags are the way to go. X39 was the original 300 blackout, just not subsonic which is what 300 blackout was supposed to be utilized for. X39 ammo, even in its shitty steel cased form, works really well and is much cheaper. 154 soft points work well on game and sound great through a suppressor
@@ajsomp 300 BLK was “supposed” to be an AR mag capable feeding modern day 7.62x39 which it achieves thoroughly. The subsonic ammunition allows a single gun to replace 5.56 rifles in medium engagements and subsonic suppressed 9mm subguns. Which it does both.
Upper conversion kits are going for $1700. The complete gun is $2500. Anyone thing the lower receiver is really worth the extra $800? I’m trying to decide between getting a PSA JAKL for $1300 or just the Spear upper for $1700 and putting on a milspec lower. Anyone have experience with the upper conversion kits?

Sorry to ask this on the Spear video....I recently got an MCX 11.5 with a suppressed etc. In faster shooting scenarios or full auto, the gas blowback is crazy especially for a piston rifle. I've done both suppressed and unsuppressed settings with no avail. It's so bad there is such a cloud your eyes burn and you have to step away. Any recommendations to fix that? Thanks for your time.
@@lovrop it's issued unfortunately so I get what I get. I contacted Sig and they said it's common due to the gas block being middle of the road for all kinds of cans. We run a specwar 556k, he said the amount of blowback is can specifc. Thanks for the reply tho.
@@lovropFor the cost of this rifle I shouldn’t have to spend another $1000 for a flow through can to fix a gassing issue when I already have suppressors. All Sig had to do was make more gas settings, huge drawback in my book.
That's I was going to ask. He liked it when he was sponsored by them and said it worked well. I've never heard of people saying the pws 762 is not reliable, mostly ammo and mags being the problem. I have mk111 mod 2 and it runs great with wolf, tula through c products mags and unimag (not sold anymorel
Did you notice any bruising on your upper pec/chest from the stock? I have the original skeletonized stock with the bump for cheek weld built in and it has a curved butt pad which is a little sharper but while it's comfortable to shoot, it bruises the flesh a little. I'm not very skinny and have some muscle there but even so, it will bruise even after just shooting my suppressed MPX.
Picked mine up from the gun shop yesterday. 11.5” but they don’t ship with a brace. With the ATF BS they aren’t available so I will miss my range time with it this weekend which sucks. That alone put me in a bad mood and if you’re use to a Magpul MOE style grip the sig will take some getting used to. Fit and finish is great but I hear that getting the muzzle device off is a nightmare. Will be submitting my SBR paperwork work next week.
I really want a 300 Blackout Spear LT. Too bad when you do find them, some scumbag is asking $4k for it. Sig needs to stop adding this many SKU’s when the only guns you actually see on the shelf are P365’s and maybe an M17.

@@smokeu600 the spear. This would be my first rifle, the only downside I've seen of the spear is it's still a bit heavy. What you think?
@@magnusred2945
It’s not that heavy, if you ever handled the original Mcx the spear will be lighter. If you want something a lot lighter , the scar 16s or Bren 2 are light. The scar is the lightest of the bunch because of the pencil thin barrel and almost no front rail.
@@smokeu600 Thank you friend. Last question, would a spear be a good first rifle?
You do excellent work with your reviews.
I've got a 16" 5.56 for my mcx and a 9" 300blk so I'm confused about your comment about barrels not being readily available. I'm buying the 6.75 300blk and 11.5 5.56 next. I've already purchased all of the handguards available for the mcx.
Me too.......still looking for that unicorn in 7.62 x 39.
Will be anticipating the release....and Aron's review! 😎
Thanks for this review! Looking forward to you doing a video when you get a 7.62x39 Spear LT. I'd happily provide some ammo for that.
I'm really here for the candle rant.
@@DC-bk6ep I have both as well, PWS is a really great platform.
Christmas come early and uploaded at 7pm instead of 8pm I like it I like it alot
Any chance there will be a review on the AB Suppressors Warthog series?
Why do you not call it an MCX? It's stamped on the magwell "Sig MCX Multi-Caliber"
hearing Aaron mention yankee candle and cracker barrel just made me laugh
Appreciate the review. Disappointed this is north of $2,500.
I just bought one of these and I cannot wait to get it in!
Where you get it from
@@magnusred2945 Osage county guns in Missouri, had it shipped to me in Pennsylvania
Hi Sage, if it were possible please consider doing a review of the 300BLK version of this gun theres no review i can find of that variant.
"Flat dark earth butter cinnamon" 🤣😂 Ill take 2
My local gun shop had one and I considered buying it but I was really shocked how heavy it was relative to an AR.
Great video as always! Does anyone know what foregrip or hand stop he’s using?
so i have a chance to get one of these for around 3k should i wait .. also i would put a warcomp on it and use the Surefire Mini Monster on it .
I got it direct from Sig six months ago.
The tanodize is badass. Acupuncture would fix your shooters elbow.
Wish I could afford this rifle!!!!
What's your opinion on the SCAR 16S?
How soon until you can actually find one? I haven't seen a virtus in 2 years
I like my virtus and pws. They are my favorite 223/556 rifles
I have both as well but the PWS is superior. My virtus won’t lock back on the last round while suppressed in either setting. PWS has no problem and isn’t as gassy.
@@DC-bk6ep . I agree the long stroke piston shoots smoother. PWS makes a great rifle. Very accurate, reliable, and smooth and quiet with a silencer.
"Flat dark earth butter cinnamon" Love it!
I noticed you shoot right handed with the rifle and left handed with the hand gun?
Would like to have the spear lt. But being that I’m a poor, I went with a Psa Jakl. Id love to see you get your hands on a Jakl and beat the piss out of it.
Getting mine next week!
125 thu my 11.5 so far. I love it.
If you could only own one. Between The MCX SPEAR LT and THE PWS MOD2 Which one would you choose?
Such a great question since everyone knows Aaron is very much into comparisons and "if you can only have one" scenarios.
I have a PWS and a virtus. The PWS blows it out of the water. My virtus won’t lock back on the last round while suppressed on either gas setting and is way to gassy suppressed. The PWS is lighter and has a better recoil impulse to me. And more gas settings.
There’s been one 7.62 spear LT sitting at my local range in Miami (Stone Harts Gun Club) if you’re shopping around for one.
for a while i run ADM lower on my 300 blk and have same fetures, but i wish my Virtus was bit lighter on weight and slimer handguard
Awesome as always!
Wonder if we are going to see a 6 ARC conversion kit.
Cerakote needs to make Flat Dark Earth Butter Cinnamon now!
You can tell when that gas block starts to get a lil too hot in the burn down.
"Ive been looking forward to this" -Count Dooku
I'd love to see one in 6mm ARC
Amazing review, but WAAAAAy to advanced for me, if i was to buy my first rifle and store has only two of this only, should i grab 1 ??? Thanks!
I think the round gets a lot of criticism because of the older AKM's that have parts loosened up over time, which can mess with long-range accuracy.
the duramags for the x39 are apparently supposed to be superior for AK mags
I thought you liked the PWS 7.62x39…?
did you ever check out the CMMG MK 47 i just got one and it feels great i haven't had a chance to shoot it yet .
Used to own one there a cool novelty but very unreliable basically can only run magpul mags or some polymer mags
Yeah I've heard that CMMG MK47 has serious feed issues? Said to be unreliable, yet expensive
So far all I can find is the 7.62. 5.56 is no where 🧐🧐🧐is SIG trying to find the marketability and need of the 7.62???
It's a shame we are counting down the days to were Aaron won't be on the RUclips anymore much rather pay for sage than gbrs pushing 500$ mounts and 50$ shirts so much more info here for the end user
Can your 2000 round review be used a dating advice? Get to know you, Burn down, One handed Manipulations, etc
Thanks for your time.
try flow through suppressor?
@@lovrop it's issued unfortunately so I get what I get. I contacted Sig and they said it's common due to the gas block being middle of the road for all kinds of cans. We run a specwar 556k, he said the amount of blowback is can specifc. Thanks for the reply tho.
@@lovropFor the cost of this rifle I shouldn’t have to spend another $1000 for a flow through can to fix a gassing issue when I already have suppressors. All Sig had to do was make more gas settings, huge drawback in my book.
I would have liked the left side charging handle.
So what was wrong with the pws 7.62x39? Availability? Or something else?
That's I was going to ask. He liked it when he was sponsored by them and said it worked well. I've never heard of people saying the pws 762 is not reliable, mostly ammo and mags being the problem. I have mk111 mod 2 and it runs great with wolf, tula through c products mags and unimag (not sold anymorel
They do not make them anymore :(
Did you notice any bruising on your upper pec/chest from the stock? I have the original skeletonized stock with the bump for cheek weld built in and it has a curved butt pad which is a little sharper but while it's comfortable to shoot, it bruises the flesh a little. I'm not very skinny and have some muscle there but even so, it will bruise even after just shooting my suppressed MPX.
You get bruising from any stock.
@sageDynamice0 I got something special for you too!
lol i'd be stoked about a yankee candle in that scent as well Aaron
What side mound is being used with the Holosun?
Picked mine up from the gun shop yesterday. 11.5” but they don’t ship with a brace. With the ATF BS they aren’t available so I will miss my range time with it this weekend which sucks. That alone put me in a bad mood and if you’re use to a Magpul MOE style grip the sig will take some getting used to. Fit and finish is great but I hear that getting the muzzle device off is a nightmare. Will be submitting my SBR paperwork work next week.
Try it with plates for length of pull
I don’t put my stock against my plates.
The recoil impulse of the Rifle is down in the beginning. Incredible
I really want a 300 Blackout Spear LT. Too bad when you do find them, some scumbag is asking $4k for it. Sig needs to stop adding this many SKU’s when the only guns you actually see on the shelf are P365’s and maybe an M17.
Thank you.
