For anyone that runs into the problem of that green clip attached to the one cable behind the resonator box when you go to remove it that isn’t shown in this video or many others. To get it off I used a flat head screw driver to get underneath the little clip and lifted it off, with some effort it came off just be careful not to puncture the cable it’s connected too or unplug it! I searched high and low for an answer on this a scrolled through 30 forms to find an answer for it, so I figured I’d share it here! good luck everyone :)
The difference is in the performance of the intake setups such as on these cars the traditional short ram intake sucks in more hot air due to the location of where it’s at but u get better throttle response and engine noises. While wit a true cold air the long one u refer it to is better overall hp gains due to bringing in more cooler air due to its location being near the wheel well.
imo I feel like wit the automatic transmission i feel a noticeable difference wit the short ram setup rather than the true cold air setup… I’m sure if I had a manual the true cold air would be more noticeable.
Its always nice too see all motor no turbo shit man dont let anyone say that motor is slow upgrade pistons with weiseco forged pistons with a forged crankshaft trust me i did mine cause well i need to get off road so i raised the vehicle height about 3inches up and well engine and trans done right with a nice tune in the ecm i can tell u this mine is the only civic in vegas thats lifted and a monster
Yooo i have a honda civic ex coupe 2003 the good thing from 2001 -2005 are sthe same and am moding my car too i been looking for a youtube channel that will show that they mod a same car as mine so i can do it and watching . Am glad i found your channel keep it up bro💯
did you have to jack up the car to fit the filter at the bottom? ive been hearing it was tough to put the 2nd pipe that goes down because of fitment. was hoping your video would show explain why it was difficult. any words on describing why it was hard for you to install?
Morgan Liao it wasn’t hard at all. I didn’t have to jack up the car. All u do to make the second pipe fit is remove the battery u might have to remove your battery tray or cut it I just removed my battery tray cuz it was getting in the way. The battery tray was rubbing against the second pipe messing wit the Fitment.
hey congrats on the install, I`dlike to know why you choose that model of intake, I mean whats the diference between this one and the one that it`s shorter and the filter stays in sigth rigth between the batery and the engine. I want to do this mod to my car but I dont know the diference if there is one. Thanks , good luck.
Thanks a lot for the support 🙏 on your comment about the model of intake which is a spectra performance intake wit a short cone filter. I choose this intake due to the swapped intake manifold (d16y8) which is an aluminum intake manifold; the stock d17 intake manifold is plastic. This new upgraded manifold will allow me to run turbo at higher boost levels rather then running the crappy 💩plastic d17 manifold it would melt due to the extra heat caused by the turbo. If I was to relocate my battery I would have been able to use a bigger cone filter for the intake but I notice no difference in power if I was to relocate my battery. Also in my opinion I believe the short ram intake after experience running both cold air and short ram on my last setup wit the injen intake, however, the short ram has more of a noticeable gain then the true cold air intake. So I recommend this intake manifold swap if u want a +10-15 hp and u plan on going wit a turbo setup. I am so happy 😁 that I went wit this mani swap such a nice 👍 lil power gain.
Maybe dont put it behind the radiator now it is still getting hot air. Put it behind the grill so you get actual fresh and cold air but dont put the filter itself there because it could get wet and clog up
Thanks I don’t plan on getting a heat shield since I no longer am using that intake no more in my next video imma update u guys on my new intake plus manifold
Ty C no it’s not that I didn’t like the intake I loved it for the stock intake manifold. But now I’m using a d16y8 intake manifold I need a different intake system.
South Dragon Vlogs yea I did a lot of research asked a lot of ppl and fortunately Injen designed an intake that allows you to convert to cold air and short ram but rn I’m using cold air cuz it’s not raining 🌧
Alexis Romero the reason why I used the cold air when it’s not running heavy is cuz of the water getting sucked into the air intake messing up your engine such as running over a huge water puddle. But the difference between the two is simple the cold air produce more horsepower and is noticeable at higher rpms such as driving on the highway, while the short ram shoots air into the engine faster producing quick acceleration soon as u hit the gas such as at a stop light then take off when it’s green. Also there the short ram produces a louder sound from your engine in my opinion.
Well since I’m running a d16y8 intake manifold now I’m running a spectre performance cold air intake for a D16 but if u was referring to when I was using a d17 intake manifold I ran wit the injen cold air intake
I doubt you would need a different intake just because its manual, intake doesnt affect transmission and there is still same engine bay layout as an auto
@@paulc1014 well I also had an exhaust as well but it was stock piping all the way back to a aftermarket muffler tip. This was before the magnaflow catback install video.
I noticed a slight difference in power but more so noticed better throttle response and quick acceleration… and I experienced no issues wit the filter getting exposed to water when I ran this cold air intake setup.
No it’s fine unless it’s heavy rain and u driving thru deep puddles it should be fine. There are products such as the intake filter socks u can use to prevent the water from getting sucked into the engine causing hydro lock.
It jus depends I use to run that injen cold air intake that u could do both when I had my stock intake manifold now I’m running a y8 mani with a D16 short ram intake. But it depends on your transmission whether u are auto or manual… however, yes u can potentially make a true cold air work on an auto but I ran into fitment issues when I installed my injen cold air intake due to the battery location and the auto tranny. I find the gains more noticeable on a auto running short ram that’s jus my opinion of the 2.
Well I no longer have that intake setup anymore since I done the y8 swap so at the time that injen intake costed me roughly $200. But the new cold air intake for a d16 from spectre cost no more then $60 from I believe autozone sells them on the shelf’s.
Phumy TBE I tested both and I really noticed a big difference in the 2 for the short ram it does feel like u have a faster acceleration but loses speed at the higher end. As far as the cold air it feels quicker at higher speeds obviously but overall better performance. But if u don’t put a heat shield if u use the short ram u will take in a lot of hot air. Right now I am sticking wit the cold air way much better.
I did notice a difference in acceleration after adding the intake doesn’t matter if I have an automatic smh 🤦🏻♂️ after all the mods I have done to my civic now if u drove my car u would be like oh my bad this is fast for an automatic 💨
I own the same car just a little better, but you did so much more work than you ever needed to, first way to many clamps you need only 2 clamps way over did it, and my Honda is a 2004 Civic EX 1.7 d17 coupe Japanese engine better than then the D17A or D17A2 EM2 all tinted with a Kenwood double din it's how I bought for only $1200!!! And the problem was the flexplate.

Speaking of lil kids - what's the dif between it installing a short intake vs a long one, like in this video?

I see - the cooler air could help the problematic D17 from overheating as much. (I'm non VTEC, manual 03 lx)
Had to close the fan switch to always on...

MG Modz why did u get a new one ? Did u not like the injen ? I plan on getting this same one that’s why

Where did you find that long ram injen intake bro? I am looking for one for my '01 EM2 ES but i only find short ram intakes.
Don't like those newer civic but sounds great
alejandro mejia thanks 🙏
Nice 🔥🔥
Aye bro i have the same car and if i add a cold air intake will my car still pass smog ?
Yes u can still pass smog but depends on what state u live in?
California?
Aye bro is your civic auto or manual?
Mines is auto unfortunately 😭

Did the stickers on the intake say carb legal on it? Bc every video or photo i seen of this did not have a close up of the stickers on it
Yes it had the sticker carb legal on it
where did you find the piece to connect the sensor back into, i have an 04 civic ex and dont really know what im looking for
What piece? And connect back into what?
Thanks
Hi bro please advice which brand you use for air intake in your Honda Civic thanks
Well since I’m running a d16y8 intake manifold now I’m running a spectre performance cold air intake for a D16 but if u was referring to when I was using a d17 intake manifold I ran wit the injen cold air intake
Hey yo! Does it really makes your car faster???
Dang Duong Nguyen it makes it feel a lil faster than stock and improves throttle response
MG Modz thanks bro! I am going to buy this part for my car. Nice vid by the way.
@@MGModz4Life thanks man
Just curious, is there a better fit cold air intake for 05 manual transmission by anychance? Not able to find any videos on manual transmission
I doubt you would need a different intake just because its manual, intake doesnt affect transmission and there is still same engine bay layout as an auto
In this video, is the only mod you have a cold air intake?
Yes it’s only a cold air intake install

What mod did you do to your exhaust
Installed a magnaflow catback
What about water when rain? Is that problem when filter is right there?
No it’s fine unless it’s heavy rain and u driving thru deep puddles it should be fine. There are products such as the intake filter socks u can use to prevent the water from getting sucked into the engine causing hydro lock.
Does this also work on the same year that’s not a coupe
Yes having a coupe or sedan does not change the parts compatibility they still have the same engine bay and motors in the car
You ever have problems with you crankshaft sensor?
No haven’t experienced any problems wit that

I believe a 3 inch intake inlet

There is no maf sensor for these cars only iAt sensor, map, tps, and iacv sensor
