+Terminus Weeeeeell no. We wont see "crazy stuff" like HAVOK, but multi-core support is something completely different, that does not need more computing power like HAVOK does.
Multi-core support is already here... One core is dedicated to the game and the other is dedicated to the sound In 9.15 true multi-core support is coming with 9.15.
The last time I tried to play Armored Warfare I sat in the queue for a tier 1 battle for 3 minutes before giving up and closing the game. Really don't see how it's much of a threat.
+derpy derp It's pve is what made me quit playing world of tanks plus it's obsidian developing it a company that is established and knows how to make good games and they give a huge ammount of transparency on what they have done and are going to do with the game. Now their game is not perfect just like WoT it has it's issues but I do enjoy Aw more than I do WoT now or in the past year before I stopped playing seriously.
I like how at 1:17 in the WG Havoc video they show them writing on a whiteboard, that is fully of Einstein's theory of General Relativity equations.... I know it's kind of a joke from their part but still.... Maybe it's a subtle message that they will take as long to release this engine as Einstein took to complete that theory (8 fucking years).
WoT was stagnant until War Thunder started showing off ground forces, then all of a sudden a whole bunch of old backburner projects started getting a lot more hype, and some (some) even got released. Most of them were half-assed and later removed (lookin at you Historical Battles) and eventually once it became clear to WG that Gaijin was going to kill its own game they started resting on their laurels again. Only hope is that Armored Warfare actually stays good long enough to actually present a credible threat to WG's market share, and prompts something more than just a knee-jerk, temporary response.
i dont anticipate the new balancing in 2016 also i dont think havoc will ever come since they say a lot of their player base dont have access to computers powerful enough to handle it also theres the issue with the lag it would cause which would effect everybody
+DEANOGTO I don't think that's the case. They even said in the 2014 Developers Diary video that the havoc physics were clientside and could be turned off by users of slower computers.
Sliphantom how would that work? because if theres a large pile of bricks from a destroyed building on one persons screen but it isnt there on another persons screen who would have priority or would people with the physics turned on only play with people who have done the same and vice versa.
***** yeah like i havent played with the grass in sniper mode in wot on for a long time i tired a game with it on not to long ago. turned it off again the second that game was over all it does is make it more difficult to see where targets are. i had an experience where there was a tank about 250ms away from me i was unspotted trying to aim and i couldnt for the life of me get a hit on them using just the tank outline.
+DEANOGTO they could make the falling debris strictly client side so if your computer can't handle it, you could turn it off. this way you see fancy graphics but somebody else who doesn't have a good computer cant. it's similar to how artillery explosions leave craters in the ground, this is client side as only the person who has that setting turned on can see it.
I think the real issue is that, they are ABLE to implement these features much much earlier, had they not stopped/limited by the fact that they have to make it work on previous generation specifications (aka 2005 and above-era computers/laptops). I think that's what really made it difficult and "slow" when it comes to pushing out updates.
More like year 2000 desktops. I could run WoT just fine one my 2005 laptop with 35-50 fps, and there are plenty of East Europeans playing the game at lower than 10 fps on old desktops.
+KineticRhyme At some point WG is going to have to ask themselves if they want to keep catering to people who can't afford a computer less than 15 years old, or if they want to make the game appeal to people who actually have money to spend on it.
+Sliphantom Problem there is over half of active clients do have these shitty PCs, so it would effectively damage their playerbase in RU for example. Also LOVE the fact that with my TITAN X and I7 I don't get stable 60FPS, yet if I use my old laptop from 2007 - "no problem comrade" - its amazing. This being said they have a SD and a HD stream of the client, why not add all this "fancy shit" to the HD client and let the peasants with Gateway computers play on SD without multicore or havok?
+Robert Hurley it may be true that a lot of russians play this game (11 servers if i am correct) but a year or so ago it was confirmed that EU gives wg the most money of all the clusters (even thought it has only 2 servers compared to RUs 11) PS i just insteled the HD client a few days ago, didnt see any bloody difference between SD and HD (yes i have Maximum textures and effects on)
"Someday, the game will be like this. Someday ... maybe tomorrow, maybe next month, maybe next, or even never... but someday." Me, then I saw the "advanced" Pyhsics-Video back then.
+Sliphantom they said i remember that they would probably have it done by the end of 2014 so they did set one, I remembered they didn't do this and it's bothered me ever since that no one else is bothered, thanks for being a person that actually remembers this.
+dan sussman I recall that, but I couldn't find the official statement and I didn't feel like dredging it up. Even if I did, it'd probably be a nebulous "oh we might get this done by the end of 2014" sort of statement.
Whenever i play Wot i think i am stuck in an oldschool game from the last generation, and i play on full grafics, but the simpicity of the game (wasd aim click) makes the game easy to learn, but hard to master, and i really like those kind of games. Another example is Mount and Blade Warband, very old game with simple combat mechanics, but very hard to master.
I distinctly remember them releasing a statement that the havoc engine was not implementable because it created too much cpu load because of the size of the maps
Best part of the new sound update was the bit where the game started shitting screechy static into my headphones and then freezing every other match. Also fucking lol at "behaving like real combat vehicles to the last detail"
The update with physics did fuck all, they could have made it a dramatic change with making tank movement more realistic like in War Thunder. But no, the dev's are scared of any change that isn't OP russian tanks. So they wen't the safe route and everything the exact same.

Regarding havok physics, I think it may be a problem of data. Doing proper physics on a single player game is fairly straightforward but in a multiplayer game the system must make sure that all players see the same thing at all times. So, unless you have pre-scripted collapsing animations of buildings you need to send coordinates of all the debris pieces to all 30 clients which can be quite a lot of data if you want it to look good. That also means that the player needs to have a decent internet connection in order to not experience increased lag.
+Procrastinator7 War Thunder and Killing Floor 2 both do that amazingly (about the only thing good about War Thunder, at this point). Granted, Killing Floor 2 only has 6 players (un-modded), but it has to render each physics object for all players and the dozens of enemies walking around. War Thunder is closer in line to World of Tanks in this regard and even then they do it decently.
It has been two years since that video? Wow... I actually think that Wargaming has all those things mostly worked out though. I believe they're just holding everything back out of the main game in order to have "emergency ammunition" for bad times, i.e. when players are leaving en masse, the pull Havok out of their asses, when a competitor becomes too threatening to WG's income they'll do the rebalance, etc. pp. It's basic marketing for a company in a position of a de-facto monopoly.
+qwesx I wouldnt say that WoT has a monopoly on the game, there are other games, Armored Warfare has a very similar play style, the era of tanks is different though. Plus you do have other things like War Thunder. But like Sliphantom said, the game is beginning to stagnate. The map rotation is crap, and the maps are being (re)designed such that light tanks are becoming obsolete. I wouldve much rather had 9.14 come with a bunch of new maps than "new" physics and sound. The fact that in 9.15 they have to fix some of the physics (flipping is too easy, getting stuck on the corner of your tank to a wall, stuff like what Sliphantom showed in the video about being stuck) is also kinda sad, making it seem rushed.
Quite a few of the developers at WG have said in Q&As that the company is working inefficent and there are a lot of different opinions about what they should focus on. I think that's one of the main reasons why they keep on failing to deliver on their promises.
Seems like a pipe dream actually. WG would need to update their servers, which are completely obsolete, as well as optimize their game. There doesnt seem to be a large enough player base on NA to warrant putting all that money into updating critical components. Hopefully I'm wrong but I dont see WG doing anything like that in the near future.
TL/DR: physics and graphics update: cuts out large player base an cash flow. balancing: cash first patch later, now stuck in hole, they'll see what they can do at some out, as they don't care to much. Now knowing full well that this videos is over 2 years old, you don't really play the game much if not at all anymore(just stumbled to your channel a week ago, loving it) and the fact that I don't play the game. Relating to the physics stuff, it could be with tank flipping the engine they where working on couldn't allow properish flopping, like say in some game if you flip the car or such they go flying so on, and the true excuse and money grabbing reason why multi core processing and building breaking so on has not, and will not be implemented, is the limiting factor of you cut out a major part of your player base or potential kids with credit cards with a brick of a laptop, wont go in much more details as a fair bit is obvious when you look at it that way, such with money V.s cool shit. with balancing of games especially this one, yea it might take some time, and you probably are or where right that it will take forever, or not get done at all, as well unbalance brings in cash, an buffs/nerfs can come after, its now they are trap in a whole of things all over the place that they should get shit done but will see or saw lol. Just my two cents.
The Video from 2 Years ago was, in my understanding, a "what to come" in WoT Rubicon aka. 1.0. And as long there is enought space in 0.9.xx to fill up till 1.0 there will be no such "improved gameplay" and havoc seems to be far far away.
3 years to get the new physics. BlueDrake have already implemented that physics in his new game. If any of you who dont know what im talking about. Search Bluedrake's channel
i'm working on a physics video myself. my biggest pet peeve is they are disabling all the new areas you could access on maps with the new physics. so instead of the physics rejuvenating the game and the tired old maps it's nothing more than window dressing. mediocre window dressing that took them 3 years to implement. GG WG. GG.
I have a friend who still plays WoT and he says there's going to be some big balance update in the near future, with one of the points being power-creeping premium rounds. The idea is that there's this idiotic notion that for premium tanks and rounds, you cannot ever nerf them, or you will get shit or something, so instead everything else is power crept so that premiums have their performance lowered, even if technically no stats have changed.
"WG is trying to invent the wheel" - Age of Empire 3 has havok engine, a lot of video games have physics engine, and only WoT (2016) can't have it because it causes stress on the PC.......they put a single particle of grass and it causes massive FPS drop...
World of tanks huge balance patch: Soviets: armor decreased by 30 mm average, accuracy and gun depression finally have an impact, alpha + DPM lowered, speed is finally actually lower than light tanks and other paper amored mediums... Artillery: relies even more just on RNG, no actual gameplay changes made All other tanks: disabled shooting Overall changes: ramming does no damage anymore, only soviets can teamkill Huge patch 2.0: Soviets: Armor increased by 45 mm average Overall changes: ramming does provide damage but only on against non-soviet tanks
About balance changes, it should be similar to LoL, when something is changed then other items in-game are balanced to fit into the big picture, wg just introduces something and does not touch other parts...
i dont think havoc will be released until WarThunder releases its "game changer" patch, as what I am seeing, its more of a "who can release more tanks" game. Wargaming knows that they will hit a brick wall if they release havoc early, they have no where to go as the gameplay is strictly limited to ww2 and post ww2 tanks. And I know WarThunder is far from World of Tanks in terms of gameplay but WG dont want to get behind especially warthunder is slowly catching up.
MM still sometimes acts like it was dropped on its head after 5(!) years of "development"... But physics yo! have something to chew on for a year or two. We don't fix what is not broken comrade.
That's the beauty of Wargaming, their main audience is Russians and as we all know if there is something most Russians have lack off it's money. this means their main target audience is running WoT on pc's we had for toasters in 2001. - So in other words, their main target audience can't run Havoc because it would melt their PC through all the 20 floors of the cheap apartment building they are living in. - This is why we in the West here go without a proper game, the main audience running it on potato PC's.....
+Sliphantom there was a deadline given, sort off -The Role balance is expected to come during the summer, there will be more information about it around 10/05/16. taken from QnA with Anton Pankov ritastatusreport.live/2016/05/02/02052016-qa/#more-10104
Idk, most of the stuff for the havoc engine seem to be on console. Mainly moving parts on tanks, but no destruction of buildings like in the havoc engine.....essentially, PC is being beaten by Xbox one and PS4 for world of tanks......as a gamer, that must at least say something
I think at least they are trying some things. Like removing the Waffentraeger auf E100 in replacement with the Grille 15. Which is a welcoming change, although I do agree with you that balance is shit and no deadlines is bad.
I simply cannot win at tier 10, won 6 out of my last 54 . But my overall win rate for the past month is 52%. I sent a mail to wg asking for an explanation and the agent replied stating that the MM system is changing based on players stats.
+AngryTech So they do take in account your stats for MM? If I got that right. I noticed if one team has an extra, or 2 top tier heavy tanks than usually those HT's have horrible stats. While the other team with only medium or TD's (as top tier) have atleast above average stats.
+Abbadon Despoiler The stat it takes into consideration is your win rate. The higher your win rate, the more plebs you get in your team, that way MM is supposed to keep everyone around the 50-51% mark, which means that you need to carry your ass off to get above, for example, 56% win rate.
You know you got a good point here slip. For the amount of money shoveled into this game, it has that "beta" feel. Seriously its like a continuous trial and error at our cost(money or pulled out hair put into this game). I know updating is suppose to keep the game intereting but come on... also you stole my kill on that ltp in your crusier 2!
The main user-base is in Russia which is in recession, so maybe the players aren't updating their PC's as fast as wg expected so cannot roll out advanced features?
Remember the Two Year plan? How Japanese heavy tanks were something like two years late? Remember how long it took them to actually implement half the features in the Two Year Plan? Hell, remember Rubicon? Wargaming used to give deadlines and stopped doing so when the community flipped at them for schedule slips. This is not unjustified from the community's side but Wargaming's noncommittal attitude towards updates is because they know what happens when they try to do too radical of a thing to a game by a given deadline, then miss the deadline: People flip their shit regardless of if the delay was needed. I'm not defending WG and they should learn to only make promises they have a reasonable basis for, but this at the same time is something I would do if I was in their shoes.
+rabasiticamphibian the it game engine is the only great thing about the it game. the money greedy bastards ruined the it own game with the crew system, then with the xp system then with the balance and the premium vehicles... don't get me started on the premium vehicles. also they don't have a hit points bar therefore they can whatever the fuck they want aka make premium tanks almost indestructible. when ever i player i would own evrything until i would meet a premium vehicles. the i would get one shotted
+Roman 2510M but all the premium tanks are those that were nearly indestructible irl I think, well at least the Tiger P and Black Prince had OP armor, and of course the Super Tiger II, AND IS-2 is a Russian tank
+Anssi Hanweg Too bad the game is too random with it's constant ammo racks. The engine is good but the game ground forces wise is a very sub par experience since they ruined the progression in it and nothing has armor but the Maus and a few select tanks.
yea this phisic update made me not play til they fix or ged rid of it .... EVRY TIME i drive backward with td and hit the rock my tank FLIP on side ... same when i huging to rock to hide from arty
Just watch the old "new year congrats" WG videos. Sooooo many plans and NOTHING was actually done. Did someone get fired ? NO Did WG bring new fresh blood ? NO (well, they did bring a whole bunch of even more useless people into the company - Murazor, I'm talking about you) Did WG actually made their employees play the game that they are improving ? NO Did WG spend any of that money smart in the past 3 years ? NO Do we have a better game after 5 years ? NO Did WG fix any of the oldest game related issues ? NO The list goes on for ever...
You sound a little salty. You're right about long time which took them to make a basicaly half made thing (like physic), but sound overhaul was good thing. And yes, your potatophone is crap.
why they did that? well here is the answer 2 years ago WAR thunder released Tanks and wargaming just didnt want to lose its players they did that video so no one gonna unnistal WoT and waiting for New update and keep playing it thats what they did are you not believing? gaijin did that upgrade in 3 months
I don't believe WG on anything other then specific things that are gonna make them money any more. I am a 2012 player and I know WG is full of shit, so now I just casually play.
global rebalance: all tanks except tog an t95 will move 1km/h faster on hard terrain.
What makes T95 so fearful is that it keeps coming at you at the same speed even if you detrack it!
Aint no brakes in the t95 rape train.
+SteveOwnsMC T95 doesn't need tracks...
ROAD WHEELS ONE THE T95!
So I'm not the only one who didn't forget havoc.
As long as one Russian in Siberia is still running this game on a baked potato, we wont see multi-core support.

Well as long as there is at least 19 other people who also live in Russia and play, guess I can't argue with that.
"Utilizing the power of multicore processing".
Please tell me if this is 2006 or 2016?
1906. Wargaming still stuck in zarrist computer technology.

no, they're developing near the speed of light, but thanks to relativity, to us it seems to take forever!
Achatius1982 That's another possibility :P Although it involves Special Relativity :P
+orestisDisturbed Maybe we'll see black holes in WoT at some point. Also, observing the SuperMaus87A might be quite nice.

Todd Howard I like War Thunder slightly better, but really both of the games have ALOT of problems. So War Thunder still isn't ahead of the game.

Heh. I remember that old "new physics" video. Totally forgot about it. And yeah. Good point, Sliphantom.
4 years after that video they’re going to implement the new physics engine
Funnily enough, that bit with the physics on the little extra bits on the tanks (1:47) is in the game. In the xbox version. Good job wargaming
Eagle262 it's in the ps4 to. now I see why my kv4 catches on fire all the time it's those damn loose gas tanks rocking back and forth!
Like you said at the end. I'll remain skeptical as well and sure as hell hope they prove me wrong !
I distinctly remember them releasing a statement that the havoc engine was not implementable because it created too much cpu load because of the size of the maps
Sliphantom you are one of the few youtubers that speak the truth about this game.
Loved your Pay-to-win video btw.
Best part of the new sound update was the bit where the game started shitting screechy static into my headphones and then freezing every other match.
Also fucking lol at "behaving like real combat vehicles to the last detail"
I love the fact I can flip my tank over but just hitting a pebble in the road.
2018 and we still don't have half of these things.

3 years has pass
now we finally have multicore processing
but no sign of balance yet
this has to be the slowest moving developer ever
The sandbox server is up now and the changes are big and real! Although it may take time to get to the live servers
Still waiting for like half of these features 5 years later btw.
I was beginning to think that I had imagined the Havoc engine shit. But multicore support is meant to come with the next patch

+J Cieslewicz AW is no where near the size and is only really appealing to PvE players
Well another year later we got the multicore-ish stuff with the sound update.
5 years later.... still waiting
The Video from 2 Years ago was, in my understanding, a "what to come" in WoT Rubicon aka. 1.0. And as long there is enought space in 0.9.xx to fill up till 1.0 there will be no such "improved gameplay" and havoc seems to be far far away.
This is one of the reasons why i'm playing War thunder now more then World of tanks
3 years to get the new physics. BlueDrake have already implemented that physics in his new game. If any of you who dont know what im talking about. Search Bluedrake's channel
Soo no more hiding behind buildings, and only rocks..
pretty sure they have said the soonest the 2.0 balance would come is mid 2017 but i could be wrong.
17 days until 2018, still no havoc engine
i'm working on a physics video myself. my biggest pet peeve is they are disabling all the new areas you could access on maps with the new physics. so instead of the physics rejuvenating the game and the tired old maps it's nothing more than window dressing. mediocre window dressing that took them 3 years to implement. GG WG.
Hey ...we got .... semi-multicore support.
I just figured out that the Global Publishing Producer of wargaming was wearing a tracksuit in an interview... Cyka Blyat is where it's at!
"WG is trying to invent the wheel" - Age of Empire 3 has havok engine, a lot of video games have physics engine, and only WoT (2016) can't have it because it causes stress on the PC.......they put a single particle of grass and it causes massive FPS drop...
World of tanks huge balance patch:
Soviets: armor decreased by 30 mm average, accuracy and gun depression finally have an impact, alpha + DPM lowered, speed is finally actually lower than light tanks and other paper amored mediums...
Artillery: relies even more just on RNG, no actual gameplay changes made
All other tanks: disabled shooting
Overall changes: ramming does no damage anymore, only soviets can teamkill
Huge patch 2.0:
Soviets: Armor increased by 45 mm average
Overall changes: ramming does provide damage but only on against non-soviet tanks
-
So in other words, their main target audience can't run Havoc because it would melt their PC through all the 20 floors of the cheap apartment building they are living in.
-
This is why we in the West here go without a proper game, the main audience running it on potato PC's.....
Matthew Chenault
It's not like WoT for the PC is the game that put them on the map and made them billions......Just saying.
Better make that 4 frikking years! (2017/06)
WG still can't implement their bug fixes.
5 years later and none of this ever happened.
oh that m41-90. i did the same thing with my t20 but i didn't flip that much.
If I got one thing from this video, it is "Advanced Technology".
+Sliphantom
there was a deadline given, sort off
-The Role balance is expected to come during the summer, there will be more information about it around 10/05/16.

Firs- Oh. Nevermind. Another great vid Sli.
You, sceptical. Give over 😜
When? Because work can wait, but vodka need attention.
WG is kinda sad with deadlines and improvements and fix's and CW and historical battles and pve and smoke and weather and........
+War Hound who the f... is on pic?
+Goki Trki Me.
+Goki Trki Pic? What pic....lol
WG released a video about changes to WoT? I guess people are leaving the game in droves again.
since when could brick buildings break?
Idk, most of the stuff for the havoc engine seem to be on console. Mainly moving parts on tanks, but no destruction of buildings like in the havoc engine.....essentially, PC is being beaten by Xbox one and PS4 for world of tanks......as a gamer, that must at least say something
that it's easier and cheaper to change the foundation of an new house instead of an existing one?
thank you slip
Meanwhile war thunder add some of the building interactions on a more stable client.
I think at least they are trying some things. Like removing the Waffentraeger auf E100 in replacement with the Grille 15. Which is a welcoming change, although I do agree with you that balance is shit and no deadlines is bad.
Multi-core support is coming in 9.15 bud.
rebalance to arty. Now have a aiming circle the size of the map, and spalsh damage to wipe out anything in the map
The higher your win rate, the more plebs you get in your team, that way MM is supposed to keep everyone around the 50-51% mark, which means that you need to carry your ass off to get above, for example, 56% win rate.
does the idea of them fucking with everything scare anyone else?
it's not good now, but they could really turn it inside out.
Well, you were right. Nothing happened
why are we still here?
Well, they did say that we could expect the new global rebalance during this years summer
But wasn't it like really hard to implement without everybody starting to cheat?
Woot woot 2nd view on the vid!!!! Also good points it'll probs take 100 years.
If we take the time they took to balance the KV-1S... maybe in 3+ years
I can remember games had Anti-cheating software allready in year 2000. So can wg do it in 2020 ?
Sliph!
Can you make a unicum T34 guide? :D
+The Great Steve Lol nice joke wg caring about their fanbase pffft all they care about is money of any kind.
+Smooth Trooper yep... :(
Advance Technology *died laughing*
Well it's September and what have they achieve in 2016 the year of fixing shit
what about the tier 11 and 12 tiers they promised like a year ago?
Pfff, in the year 2020 we...might...oh nevermind
Remember when they said "We will add Australian servers; we just cannot say when." ?
-_-
Remember the Two Year plan?
Even Gaijin has all fancy physics
I don't like gaijin but their game engine is fucking great.
+rabasiticamphibian the it game engine is the only great thing about the it game. the money
greedy bastards ruined the it own game with the crew system, then with the xp system then with the balance and the premium vehicles... don't get me started on the premium vehicles. also they don't have a hit points bar therefore they can whatever the fuck they want aka make premium tanks almost indestructible. when ever i player i would own evrything until i would meet a premium vehicles. the i would get one shotted
+Smooth Trooper but ammoracks do blow up if you shoot it with a cannon
Two years later, it is worse than ever!
yea this phisic update made me not play til they fix or ged rid of it .... EVRY TIME i drive backward with td and hit the rock my tank FLIP on side ... same when i huging to rock to hide from arty
Just watch the old "new year congrats" WG videos.
Sooooo many plans and NOTHING was actually done.
Did someone get fired ? NO
Did WG bring new fresh blood ? NO (well, they did bring a whole bunch of even more useless people into the company - Murazor, I'm talking about you)
Did WG actually made their employees play the game that they are improving ? NO
Did WG spend any of that money smart in the past 3 years ? NO
Do we have a better game after 5 years ? NO
Did WG fix any of the oldest game related issues ? NO
The list goes on for ever...
Well said..
I'l just stop playing the game for half a year, won't be that hard.
I don't believe WG on anything other then specific things that are gonna make them money any more. I am a 2012 player and I know WG is full of shit, so now I just casually play.
Mmmm still waiting
