You make everything look stylish! Agree with commenter above who said leather coat was meh/just okay until you put it on. My mother used to say, "It's how you carry something." I'm very interested in what vintage? brand put those wonderful linings into their jackets. Would you be able to identify them for me?

Love your thinking towards getting designer handbags! I could care less about buying a new big brand label .....no way will I ever spend that amount of money on a designer handbag or designer shoes!!!
I truly admire your practical sense 💟

Commenting from Connecticut, US. I wanted to mention to your US viewers to consider buying their denim from The Real Real. They are known for selling secondhand luxury goods but they also sell jeans. You can refine your views to new with tags or brand and colors. I buy my favorite brand Jean Rag & Bone and always find them on sale for $20 on the site. Considering they are $250 new at Nordstrom, it’s just worth it to me. Plus, The Real Real is excellent about curating only items that are authentic and in excellent shape. I’ve also bought cashmere sweaters and a leather jacket from the site.

Love this video. I started shopping second hand online last year and it’s so much fun, I’ve found some real gems. I get such a kick from buying great pieces at a fraction of the retail cost. Enjoy 😊

Same here! I started buying second hand about two years ago as I wanted to update my wardrobe with quality clothes and shop more sustainably. I can now say that about 80% of my wardrobe was built second hand and I own quality clothes that I would never could afford otherwise.

I absolutely love that you not only thrift, but craft to make those items work for you. I do the same! Not only is it better for the environment, but frankly, some of those designer brands are ridiculously, I would almost say DISGUSTINGLY, expensive. I'm all for paying more for good quality, but some of these brands go really overboard on the prices, so in finding ways to tailor stuff that works for me I really feel I am beating the system and it makes me enjoy wearing it even more than if I paid a ton of money for it. I will definitely remember that trick with the belt. What kind of glue did you use?

Thank you 😊 for the tips on buying jeans. If you know ahead of time which jeans work on you, it’s easier to buy them online. Love how you buy purposely and encourage waiting to get that perfect piece. If you have a style it’s much easier than if you just get the trends. Thoroughly enjoyed your presentation 💕

I really like your tip on the jeans. I am 5' 10" and have a hard time finding jeans with a long enough inseam. I also have an hourglass figure so it is really hard to find a fit that not only fits the hips but is small enough in the waist. I have not bought jeans since covid and the ones I have that fit well are getting really worn so I need some new ones............and here in the US you can not try on clothes in the thrift stores either. I have jeans that fit well and they range in size from US 8 to US 14.............huge range because some are vintage. I really need to try them on to ensure they fit.
I love all your additions...........the floral skirt is really pretty. It does look like it will go with so many colors. The light leather coat is also awesome. I have a hard time finding stuff like that because I am tall and often the arms are too short.

Love the jeans tip Emily! I struggle with sites like depop because there is SO much stuff. I don’t want to spend hours scrolling for clothes. Your tip could help people avoid getting decision fatigue then default into buying something brand new

    • @EmilyElizabethMay
      @EmilyElizabethMay  3 года назад +2

Oh yessss decision fatigue is so real. You can definitely get stuck in that trap on Depop. Definitely going in with a plan for Depop is essential, but knowing the exact item and size is even better 👏🏽👏🏽🙏🏽♥️

Thank you Emily, I am feeling inspired by your tips and treaks and most of all by your choice about mindful consumption. This kind of re-birth took me too for almost two years and I am enjoying the journey.
Buuuut I just want you to think about one thing. I know that we live in different countries, with different services and possibilities. Don't you think that going in a department store trying clothes that you are not going to buy is a contradiction with your thoughts..? In this way we do not support retails stores and people living with this, buying online means moving more pollutioning vehicles. I know that we always try to do our best and would be impossible to be "perfect" about respecting people and the environment. But let's be honest, if we try to avoid the overcirculation of textiles buying second hand, if we do it online we are polluting too (in addiction to this we are promoting jobs as couriers that are exploited)
    Let's keep doing our best💪

I really wanted a leather skirt last year so I found one on eBay. I took a skirt I had with a great fit and length and used it to help me figure out the sizing because brands vary so much. Especially when thrifting, size up! And pay attention to measurements. I’ve scored lovely sweaters in addition to that skirt but I’ve also had a few fails. It’s okay, since I am just looking more carefully after that! Your tips were terrific!

I am also into 2nd hand shopping!!! love it as you can find more unique pieces that fit your style better than what is currently in stores. I thrift a lot of belts and bags and I decided to invest in the hole puncher (about cdn$20) and it is very worth it!!!

You scored some really nice things Emily. That Oroton bag would have been way more than $150 new, probably more like somewhere between $400-$500. I’m going through a stage of not liking any of my jeans. In Perth we really don’t have anywhere to go and try on different brands. David Jones doesn’t have anything exciting. I’ve seen Rollas on Iconic and I thought they would suit us tall girls. Must investigate further. 🤔
I’m really interested in seeing more about shopping on Depop. Do you need to pay postage etc. I’d really love to know more about selling on Depop. Do you just ship within Australia or charge for international shipping? Alanna Davison spoke about it costing her a fortune in shipping because you couldn’t change the settings?? I’m enjoying the series, look forward to the next one. 🥰
