Hi guys! 💖 I hope you enjoy this video where I answer your questions! Pls let me know if you have any questions that I didn’t answer- I’ll try to answer them in my next vid! Love you all & thanks for all the support 🙏🏻
katieflute this is something that you should definitely do more often! I personally play bass clarinet, but I subscribe to you and watch your videos because you are very genuine! Your content is amazing! Ps: my bast friend just recently went to New York, and she plays flute also.
Thanks or the Q+A Vid! Last time, I asked a really long q, so instead, I'll ask: "do you have any tips or program recommendations for a beginner, self-teaching flautist?" :)
John Macomber YES! I’ve JUST started trying to teach myself the flute with no tutor guidance. Any recommendations on how someone can teach themselves to play???
lol speaking of shallow reasons for starting flute, one of my teachers said she started playing because her mom took her to the symphony when she was 3 and she thought the flute player was really pretty
I ended up playing the flute despite wanting to play the clarinet because at the demo with the instrument rental place I could get a sound on the flute but not the clarinet and my dad declared I had talent on the flute and I should choose that. I took that (faulty) logic and ran with it.
Finally finally finally I got my first Alto flute can you please do some more flute Center of New York videos especially for alto flutes love you like crazy
re: double tonguing: it is the bane of my existence. I have used single tonguing for almost everything (yes, even the Mendelsohn and the Bach), but I had to do it with Scheherazade. re: the recorder thing: I SO DID THAT!
Low key freaking out because you chose my question. Ha! Honestly I’m living vicariously through you because I was on the same musical path, music performance major. I was at a state college though instead of conservatory. But I dropped out to get married. Would never give up my family to go back and continue with my career, but I miss fluting 24/7 hardcore sometimes. Grateful that I get to see a bit of your #flutelyfe so that I can “come along” with you 💜
I'm a violinist of 5 years but i love watching your content....also what is your favorite repertoire to play with other wind or string players 😊😊 Thank you!!
4:12 I got attacked by a snakes whilst playing it some sick flute music and it attacked me and bit my toe and crushed the bone. Boom better story for ya 😂😂
Oh i Envy you that you heared james galway live. He is the reason I wanted to Play the flute. I heared his recordings when i was ten and thought i want to sound like that. ( haha what a dream 😅)
Sorry if this question is a little girly/vain and not serious musician-like, but here it goes: how does one keep lipstick from smearing while playing the flute? It's been a mystery of life to me.
Hi there! So I stumbled upon your channel and was wondering if you ever had any available recordings of the Mouquet La flute de Pan sonata--the reason I ask is that I am a collaborative pianist who works frequently with precollege flute students, and I think they'd really enjoy/be inspired by your channel, particularly if you'd be willing to toss up some recordings of common precollege repertoire. (And I've had 2 girls do that sonata in the space of a couple months.) I'm enjoying the channel even though I have no personal experience with the flute!

I was kinda surprised you didn’t include the Chaminade Concertino in your staple repertoire.
Colin Miller the chaminade is in the French book that i mentioned :)

lol i literally chose flute because i thought the flute was a saxophone. no regrets, except the fact i'm the only dude in my band's flute section.
Lol
