      @@ChrisbyBike I have change 12T and 17T chainring remain 50, tyre pressure 90psi, front was 80psi. The result was quickly range 15-23km ph , can keep the speed was 18-19km per hour easily, 1+was little heavy, 13T cog 1+ gear is lighter, 2- (12T) was easy reach 20-23km I try today, 2+ (12T) can keep the speed 17-18kmph , 2+(13T cog the speed was 14-16kmph. CHAIN MUST USE 7SPEED OR 8SPEED , I 12T-17T use 10 speed chain will drop chain , becos chain gap to far , is 13T-17T 10 speed chain no problems, accept the new Brompton P line and T line can use 10speed chain, both chain I use SUMC hollow chain 8speed (12-17) 10speed (13-17), this was cruising speed, not yet try climb the decent road,

    My Ligthweigth bike felt heavy, so I found a new set of specially expensive titanium nuts for my wheel, to make it ligther, as also my axle and the security parts on my fork! I wasn't aware of the adjustment ability for the small chain-fork, changing my two gears, so thank You! As a bikebuilder I of course have adjusted gears on my MTB and racingbikes, but this bike is very/extremely English in its being built! Finn. To adjust the Handlebar you have to loosen the central screw and adjust it so that it does not get in the way when folding the Brompton and is comfortable to pedal. Then tighten it to the torque suggested by the Brompton manual

    Thank you so much for your help! I have one question though, I got my Brompton yesterday and I found that the 3rd gear is much louder and noisier than 2nd and 1st gear, while 2nd and 1st gear sounds similarly quiet, is that normal on a Brompton bike? If not, what would you suggest on the adjustment? Thank you!

      Hi Chris Wong
      Congrats for your new Brompton🎉🚴‍♀️🥳
      The gears have different noises, but it should be much lauder from the others.
      Try 2nd gear and see if it is adjusted properly. If the noise continues take to a Brompton store for a checkup.
      Good luck! 👍🏻

      @@ChrisbyBike Thank you so much! I adjusted the 2nd gear accordingly and also listen to some of the videos that record the sound from different gears. I guess that ticking sound is normal and special with brompton bike. I also went to the shop for a check up, they agree with that too! I just feel a bit weird with those noises at first as it sounds badly tuned gears on road bike. But now it becomes an enjoyment and signature of Brompton hub :) Thank you again for your video and reply. Very good channel for Brompton bike owners!

      @@ChrisbyBike Brompton is absolutely an excellent bike, particularly in small spaces in Hong Kong. I brought my bike to commute in the underground, to office, riding on the cycling lane as well as went for a coffee as well. It's compact form factor make it capable for city use. I am also very surprise that my 6-speed Brompton didn't compromise with it's speed, despite it got only a 16" inch wheel, it can easily go with >30km/h with 3- gear. Absolutely stunning and amazing. But I found the steel version is really a bit heavy, and when rolling on the bumpy road on the street it need some extra skills to walk it smoothly. But I am very happy with my Brompton and also admire and appreciate the design and engineering made behind this bike.

    • @ChrisbyBike
      @ChrisbyBike  3 года назад +1

      Hi Chris Wong
      It is a great design and perfect for cities. But do agree, I would love it eaven more, if Brompton weight 6kilos instead the 11-14 kilos. It would be perfect.
      To roll it in bumpy streets a nice set of good EasyWheels and a EasyWheel extension will help a lot.

      Hi Jeff Hiew
      It is the same as the adjustment on a Road bike for the front gear. One screw adjust the limit of the higher gear and the other adjust the limits of the lower gear.
      They make the limit and adjustment for the gear extended to the left in one screw and for the right on the other screw.
