As a commenter below said - over the last couple months there has been some as of yet unofficial memos about changes in costs to stamps, work permits, and residency - with all that is going on, the government may take a bit to catch up on officially changing this. When/if if becomes official we will certainly do an update!

One thing I'm wondering about are the police certificates I've lived in more than one country would I have to travel to each country to get the police certificates if I were going for permanent residency in Belize I know on the government website it says you can't leave Belize for more than 14 days which I could do but it would involve a lot of traveling ( I haven't lived in Belize yet but it's something I'm thinking of doing someday once I have enough money.

People have a misconception about retiring in Belize on Social Security. Even though its in Central America, Belize is not a good option, if you only have Social Security. A better option is Nicaragua or Panama. The two big attraction in moving to Belize, are the beaches, and the fact that they speak English.

A few weeks ago I was able to get a 3 month extension by showing my lease on property along with a bank statement showing have funds.
