They're moving in, everything is rather fine for a few days. And then I return back from school and find my room destroyed: all my school stuff is on the floor, my toys drawers are lying around, turned upside down, with my old toys scattered everywhere. My pills from a spare bottle were scattered all around the floor, as if someone opened it and was running around with it, while violently shaking the poor bottle. And, one of the worst things - I noticed that one of my precious toys is gone. A bit of context: I have five toys, which are considered my comfort objects. I call them my precious toys, I like this better. All these toys have their own name and a unique backstory, most of them had already changed dozens of owners. There's even one that's considered a family charm - a little brown fox plushy called Foxy. Foxy is my favorite, I take him with me on every vacation. And he was the one who was gone. My mom and cousin were working, and my dad went to get groceries, so I was alone with the brat and her father. But then that excuse of the father tried to get it back, yelling at me, that it's non of my business and that's I'm hoarding toys all for myself and can't share with his poor girl. The girl is crying in the floor, btw. I lost it. I yelled back, that it's the only thing that keeps me from snapping their necks or at the very least breaking them a few bones, because pills were successfully destroyed by the monster called "a five year old". It turned into a shouting match, the kid was crying on the floor, scared. My dad came back home during this and he was stunned on the sight of my room and the torn Foxy. My cousin's husband tried to blame it on me, also he claimed that I tried to attack them, but my dad brushed it off very quickly. Argument: I may destroy my room when I'm raging, but I would NEVER damage my precious toy, because I would never harm something that means a lot to me (For example, I would never punch my parents or my friends while raging, instead I would smash objects to calm down). Then he tried to blame me again, this time for leaving my room unlocked and "tempting his child to come in and play". I angrily explained that, if he didn't notice, the only two doors in our house that are lockable are bathroom and toilet doors. Any other room can't be locked, only closed or barricaded with something (the last is almost impossible, because there's close to no objects you can use for that - chairs are way too tall to block the handle, and any other easily movable furniture is too small). And then he cracked and yelled out, that I'm hoarding the toys in my rooms and don't let his child play in there, and she sits in the living room bored. My father pointed out, that his daughter HAS her own toys, they brought some with them. And also, when let in, his daughter entirely destroyed my room and broke my precious toy, and husband didn't stop her from doing so. That means, that he either doesn't care about his child, or doesn't respect our family, because now we have to clean the room and buy new pills for me. They both left the day after that to live in the hotel, and my cousin stayed with us, because she felt guilty for her family.
Even if the water heater has to be replaced , as long as it doesn't have to be ordered because not in stock right then , it should only take a couple of hours.
My own water heater because plumbing has its own room has a drain next to it and the turn off valves are in that room can hit the lowest times. But some houses have everything burried, drains far from the tank and hard to find valves thus their time increases huge times.
You can get a central air unit replaced in around 6 hours (inside&out.) Hot water heater should be a couple hours. Only reason it would be a couple days is if there's some sort of backorder on parts, or they had one plumber in town that was just booked solid. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but you can heat water on the stove, take a cold shower, or shower at the Y, yes? Not having cold water doesn't really make you homeless.

Huh how its not having hot water a problem ? I used to have this problems for multiple weeks sometimes as a children and part of a home of 6 sometimes 7 people My mom just boiled some water on the stove and put in the bath with cold water and all the children could wash themself one after another 💀
Over time I learned that you can be a good person and do favors, but you shouldn't expect someone to do you a favor or to act as nicely as you did. I regret not having done this earlier in my life but I made a monumental sorting in my contacts and I kept very few friends and it is at this moment that I started to have a better life and better goals and in the friend who is the closest to me and the most recent in my life, Most of my former friends didn't believe in this project because they didn't want to "waste" their time and in the end they were locked in a small apartment with a rent equal to half their salary. Most people don't want to make sacrifices and don't know how to think about the future but just about their present while hypocritically taking advantage of you.
if the water heater just stopped working its not realy a emergency cant stay in home type situation untill fixed. sure some things would be harder but not impossible to get done, washing cloths? places exsist where that can be done, taking a shower? it would be at most a few day so cold showers or dont shower for a couple of days (not showering for a few days will not kill you, might start to smell afther some days but you wont die from it and if needed a cold one will work) washing dishes? boil some water, let it cool for a short time and use that to wash the dishes etc. can also use this method to wash your body afther leting the water cool of a little and then use a swamp or something for washing, sure its not a shower but it works fine. if it was middle of winter and the heating for the house stoped working it would be a big issue or if the heater burst and lots of water damage it would be bad. but if the water heater just stopped working? dont sound like an emergency where need to live with some one for a unkown amount of time!

Over time I learned that you can be a good person and do favors, but you shouldn't expect someone to do you a favor or to act as nicely as you did. I regret not having done this earlier in my life but I made a monumental sorting in my contacts and I kept very few friends and it is at this moment that I started to have a better life and better goals and in the friend who is the closest to me and the most recent in my life, Most of my former friends didn't believe in this project because they didn't want to "waste" their time and in the end they were locked in a small apartment with a rent equal to half their salary. Most people don't want to make sacrifices and don't know how to think about the future but just about their present while hypocritically taking advantage of you.

if the water heater just stopped working its not realy a emergency cant stay in home type situation untill fixed. sure some things would be harder but not impossible to get done, washing cloths? places exsist where that can be done, taking a shower? it would be at most a few day so cold showers or dont shower for a couple of days (not showering for a few days will not kill you, might start to smell afther some days but you wont die from it and if needed a cold one will work) washing dishes? boil some water, let it cool for a short time and use that to wash the dishes etc. can also use this method to wash your body afther leting the water cool of a little and then use a swamp or something for washing, sure its not a shower but it works fine.
if it was middle of winter and the heating for the house stoped working it would be a big issue or if the heater burst and lots of water damage it would be bad. but if the water heater just stopped working? dont sound like an emergency where need to live with some one for a unkown amount of time!
