I don't think these are signs you grew up in Louisiana. Its more like Signs you grew up in New Orleans. There's more to Louisiana then New Orleans. I'm from Louisiana and I should know
Like... 60% of this is true.. but.. "When you hear sirens, you a parade is coming"... No, I think somebody was robbed at gunpoint and shot in the face. c: But I've been raised in Metairie c:
I'm from Baton Rouge and I just moved to Texas and the food here is a damn joke. No klienpeter milk. No Tony's seasoning. No king cake. No Manda sausage. 😥😥
+SMASH! We had whataburger in Baton Rouge. I had it a few times about 10 or so years ago. But I haven't had fast food in so long, it upsets my tummy just thinking about it. Lol
A Louisiana residents here, on point about the police sirens including the "crawfish" part 😂, and oh my gosh the humidity is insane but come here for the food, it's the bessssstttt 😍
I live in Louisiana (Shreveport). And when I hear sirens, I don't think of parades. We only have three parades each Mardi Gras season. Yes, it IS nearly impossible to have a good hair day. It's 100% humidity basically everyday, even in the winter. Plus winter starts in January for us.. Shreveport is huge in the Cajun culture and all, but it's only ever rarely that we get to eat crawfish, or have festivals (Mudbug Festival being my favorite). But life here is VERY different from life in New Orleans. It's not like all of our foods are creole, or spicy, or fried. And voodoo and hoodoo aren't even mentioned. The only accents we have are southern accents instead of French. And even if we are only 400 miles away, our weather here is very different, too. It can be a lot colder in the South than it will be in North Louisiana. And not all of New Orleans is under sea level.. Not saying that any of those facts may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure the rest of the Louisianan culture feels left out. :/
I've lived in Louisiana all my life, and really this only represented the more southern part of the state. Like this was mostly about Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
I guess you could rename it signs your from New Orleans. People not from Louisiana think the whole state is like New Orleans. Once again buzzfeed failed. You guys need to do better
I don't know why it says Louisiana. Grew up born raised and lived here all my life along with all my ancestors. If you're going to be something about Louisiana be serious about it if it's a joke say it's a joke
New Orleans is the best place I've ever visited, the people there are the nicest group of people, and the food is to die for. The culture and the pride the people have for their city is amazing.
YAAAAAS NOLA this is more like growing up in/around New Orleans, it ain't like that in north Louisiana! And you forgot "laissez les bon temps roulez", "joie de vivre", and BEIGNETS! but you also forgot always being prepared for floods and hurricanes.
I live in Louisiana (Port Allen) and not everywhere is like New Orleans. Trust me. Also, police sirens don’t signal parades for me, it always begs the question, “Who got shot now?” or “Oh they chasing someone.” Like, shootings happen allllll the time. And when I say that, I mean it to the point.
I'm from Louisiana. Some of these are true, but pretty much half are generalized for people who stay in New Orleans (which I hate). The drinking part though......very true lol. We'll find any excuse to drink (and trust me we have tons).
I'm not even American, but I've lived in Louisiana for a lot of my childhood. Especially a very tiny town of just over 300 people called Pine Prarie. It's right next to Ville Platte.
Megan Xaviera I'm from the New Orleans area and only time I think parade when I hear sirens is during Mardi Gras. Any other time, I think crime/shooting.
Oh my gosh, for Mardi Gras??? You treat yourself, pal, it's great there, very friendly. Do yourself a favor and go to Café Dumond, order a beignet (they basically just serve donuts and coffee). It's one of those things that every Louisianian does while in NOLA.
I'm from Louisiana and still live here and half the stuff is not correct. The person who made this probably doesn't know much about Louisiana 👌🏼 #proudSoutherner #Louisiana
It's pretty cool reading the comments and seeing all the people from Louisiana commenting their cities and thinking that's not far from me! I've never seen this many people that live locally to me commenting on one thing at once on the internet.
noel1553 That's because New Orleans is Creole culture (derived from colonial francophone city culture) and the rest of of Louisiana is either Cajun culture (derived from Acadian French culture in the rest of south Louisiana) or Anglo culture (North Louisiana).
I was born in raised in Louisiana and still live here in Louisiana, I can say this there is no other place like here. I have lived in other states but always find my way back home
Taylor H That wasn't gumbo. That was a shrimp boil. They just mentioned gumbo, but that was just crab-boiled shrimp with all the sides of a traditional boil.
I lived there for 4 years. I miss it so much! The culture, food, life.. Not to mention we got an extra week besides Spring Break for Mardi Gras.. I'm surprised they didn't put that on there. Stand in a field and catch beads, toys and candy for hours! I love it so much!
Sabit Wagad I can't see what the person is saying as I blocked them a long time ago, but thanks for the support :) SMASH! If the comments annoy someone that much, they should start blocking people as it's generally the same people. And it might seem like a lot, but I can assure you that I've had to block a lot more negative haters out there than people that comment about me. And it really doesn't take long to just ignore or scroll passed a few comments.
This definitely isn't the LA I know. I grew up here while you guys are in California so how would you know. I bet your people just went to New Orleans and asked 1-2 people what it's like there. Different parts of the state have somewhat different cultures.
I don't think these are signs you grew up in Louisiana. Its more like Signs you grew up in New Orleans. There's more to Louisiana then New Orleans. I'm from Louisiana and I should know
True
👏🏼
lol that's what I was thinking the whole time.

Like... 60% of this is true.. but.. "When you hear sirens, you a parade is coming"... No, I think somebody was robbed at gunpoint and shot in the face. c: But I've been raised in Metairie c:

Ikr? We think, "Gahh another murder"
+Wataa Melon only during mardi gras season
+Wataa Melon only during mardi gras season
+Salem K NOLA crime isn't that bad. Baton Rouge is worse. A few other places in LA are worse.
Java that isn't true considering New Orleans is above Baton Rouge in crime statistics.
they forgot to mention Tony chacheres, all Louisianians have that seasoning.
We snort Tony’s down here.
YAAAAAS NOLA this is more like growing up in/around New Orleans, it ain't like that in north Louisiana! And you forgot "laissez les bon temps roulez", "joie de vivre", and BEIGNETS! but you also forgot always being prepared for floods and hurricanes.
Wow, it's cool that *"when you hear police sirens, you think a parade is coming"*. When that you hear police sirens here in London, everyone runs.
So true.
I look foward to seeing your comments on every Buzzfeed video 💙😂
+Fluff Of Fuzz 20 seconds to reply, that's incredibly fast, but glad you agree, haha XD

As I am from New Orleans, this is more like a “Signs You Are From New Orleans” video, but all of this stuff it totally true 😂
In New Orleans, when I hear police sirens, it's usually a bad thing lol. The snowball thing was true though
Megan Xaviera I'm from the New Orleans area and only time I think parade when I hear sirens is during Mardi Gras. Any other time, I think crime/shooting.
More like signs you grew up in New Orleans. But whatever, at least they made a video about Louisiana!! :D
I'm going to New Orleans for the first time next month! I can't wait.
Oh my gosh, for Mardi Gras??? You treat yourself, pal, it's great there, very friendly. Do yourself a favor and go to Café Dumond, order a beignet (they basically just serve donuts and coffee). It's one of those things that every Louisianian does while in NOLA.
+Grammar Police You should come during crawfish season and definitely get a po boy while your'e here!!

Born in Slidell, raised in MetairieI never think it's a parade when I hear sirens...

You know you from New Orleans when you move out of the city and the rest of Louisiana is a culture shock
noel1553 That's because New Orleans is Creole culture (derived from colonial francophone city culture) and the rest of of Louisiana is either Cajun culture (derived from Acadian French culture in the rest of south Louisiana) or Anglo culture (North Louisiana).

SMASH! If the comments annoy someone that much, they should start blocking people as it's generally the same people. And it might seem like a lot, but I can assure you that I've had to block a lot more negative haters out there than people that comment about me.
