Very, very helpful video, Peter. Great tips that we can easily use to get started without going into the hyper technical aspects of some other videos. You have given us some helpful and useful advice that we can readily incorporate into our skill set or to get started and test our own appetite for this photography market subset. Thank you again, very much!
Hi, thanks for the usefull tipps. The beautiful image from the purple flower at 6:12 is stunning. Is it made with focus-stacking or just a slower aperture? Would you share the settings of this image? Thanks again!
You're welcome. The purple flower photo is focus-stacked. In camera (Nikon Z6ii with the Nikon Z 105mm on) I used the automatic focus-shift feature, with the camera on a tripod, no flash. I'm currently travelling, and don't have the images with me, but as far I remember, it was 20 shots @ f5.6 and ISO around 400. I let Photohop do an automatic focus stacking, and a little cleaning up the image after that. I hope that helped you. If you have a Nikon Z 6 camera or above, you should try the focus shift feature, it is really awesome.
@@peterbredahldam Thanks for the quick reply. I realy appreciate that you are taking the time to answer while you are travelling. I have both, the Z7II and the 105. I realy love the combo. I will definitely try the focus-shift feature. I'm travelling now to colombia so i'm sure that i will have the chance to use it. But the composition on your image is just beautiful, i love the shot! I will need a lot of practice to come near to this. About the aperture F5.6, is this the effective aperture? So you shot it "wide open"?
Thank you so much for the info. Question, i have a Zf with the 105 S macro lens. What flash do you suggest to use and what diffuser would you recommend, also, have you ever focus stacked? If so, how do you go about doing that?
Have you seen this video of mine: Don't Use the Wrong Macro Flash System! ruclips.net/video/wjBTXcNVr_g/видео.html I think it should help you choose a flash system.
The tips I share in this video goes very well in hand with these basis macro photography tips: ruclips.net/video/ihsm4AH7bBM/видео.html
Thanks, Peter. I have been shooting some flowers lately, and I have found it to be fairly challenging. Your video was very helpful. Thanks!
You're welcome. Getting a good flower photo is actually harder than most people think. But with a few tips everything is possible :-)
Appreciate the tips 👍🏻👍🏻

Without fail if I sit down to photograph a flower on a dead still day, I get a gale force wind lol
