Not gonna lie this song makes me tear up every time. I first heard it from the Fallen ride the sky video when I was a senior in high school. As I got older and got into my first real relationship with a woman I played this near the end of our 3 year. We was sitting on the light rail in Seattle and sharing ear buds. When this came on we both started crying. I knew then what this song was truly about.
I grew up in Northville, Michigan listening to these guys perform (or as it is sung in this song "preform") live at our local teen nightclub "THE CAVERN" and learned to play this as one of my covers when I had my own DEEtroit rock band later. There was and will never be anything like the SE Michigan rock scene of the '60's and 70's ever again. Anywhere. Michigan gave birth to more super musicians than any other location in the western hemisphere - both known, and unknown. Look it up if you don't believe me. California? Sheeit. Don't make me laugh. That was just a corporate suck hole to fall into AFTER you'd already made yourself a great musician, guys.
Vibes are heavy on this one. I was born in the '90s but it still has a nostalgic sound to me. I sob just like the wah and those gnarly bends when I listen to a this
What we have here, dear friends, is what I consider to be the FIRST Heavy Metal power ballad! LONG before Ozzy, Poison, Motley Crue, etc. I actually wanted this song to be played at my wedding, but I was afraid most people wouldn't even know what or who it was when they heard it!
i see that in a memoral video call jay adams you can see taht its so good, and this song its from the 70s the time when jay and skate are in the golden time
I remember hearing this album coming up through the heat vents of our house. The sounds of music and the aroma of incense and what he called Canadian Tomato plants. Wink wink.
The sad thing I've learned when I 1st learned that how to download these songs was that I didn't know what I was doing. I was a downriver boy now a man who tried to tell people about the band's and personal guy's in the band's I knew. Smack I'm off google. Sorry I didn't stop, I got my 1st anthem story of my life played , East side story, then 2+2 etc, until I went for for over 15 hours. Anyway that's that. I'm glad to see that others took over where I left off and especially glad others before me tried to but, live and learn. Alex.
They were on the scene around that time. They would often be on the same gigs, but they were co-stars. They only had one top 40 hit, but did not really have the following of some of the other bands had. As far as the Stooges, my recollection is that many of the so-called "hip" people spoke badly of them. They were often taken for granted as beer bottle targets.
Good, good song , this is some of the beauty of be downriver from a band only remembered for House of the risen sun? Alex. No where's all the real comments?
Has that sort of smoth laid back vibe that Ten Years After does to me. Also kinda reminds me of both Steppenwolf and The Velvet Underground aswell as Jimi Hendrix and maybe some early ted nudgent, all shit I could verymuch picture these guys having been into.
I never let you know before But now I must confess That only in your living arms Could I find happiness Yes it's taken quite a while To show you how I feel I just wanted to be sure My love for you was real God gave me love God gave me you, girl God gave me love God gave me you, girl God gave me love God gave me you, girl God gave me love God gave me you, girl Perhaps I've lingered over time It may be just too late You may have chosen someone else More suited to your taste God gave me love God gave me you, girl God gave me love God gave me you, girl God gave me love God gave me you, girl God gave me love God gave me you, girl But if I have only one chance What I hope will be Let God perform a miracle Of giving, of giving you to me God gave me love God gave me you, girl God gave me love God gave me you, girl God gave me love God gave me you, girl God gave me love God gave me you, girl
I had a curiosity about this song after I had read a Wikipedia article about "House of the Rising Sun," in which a music executive suggested that Frijid Pink's label drop this song as the single and go with "Rising Sun." But hearing this, I like it. I wonder how it would mash up with the Dave Barnes composition of the same name, the one that was a big hit for Blake Shelton. Who knows, maybe my band GALLEON will try it some time!
Wow I was just playing this song going through some old cassettes that I'm trying to get rid of. I have tons and tons of them. So this song was 1st and then the Dave Barnes song you refer to was right after! Hope your band did both of these songs during your career. In fact I'm thinking of doing a cover version of Dave Barnes God gave me you. I want to send the song on an MP3 by email for there next anniversary. So your comment and me reading it represents the universal principle of syncrinicity
Too late, I was up to be the lead singer of the new band 20 odd year's ago,. If I learned one thing in my 50 years as a professional, if you can't do it better, you don't touch it. I had no reason to play half assed cover's of a band that ... I better stop here. Anyway, I'll keep trying to get you the great songs that will never see the light of day until I'm stopped! Alex.
it's either in E or A -I used to play[keyboards] it in one of the garage bands I was in --the guitar players could never figure out the intro--but the rest of the song they kicked tail-Yeah we also did 'Drivin Blues -guys in the band never heard of Frijid Pink -before I played them the music --GreaT STUFF
I didn't know whether they were even Brit or American, but I see they're from Detroit. Why aren't Frijid Pink mentioned routinely alongside MC5 , Stooges, Grand Funk, etc? Is there something wrong with them?

Thank you for posting this . Spotify only has the 2011 remake . Nothing never beats the original.
YEA THAT VERSION SUCKS TBH
Applemusic too. Both sucks
Yeah!
Yeah amongst other things they took the Hammond organ out, and that's such a core part of this song.

Listened to this on an 8 track tape deck in my '65 Chevy Impala 396, in the early 70s. Awesome group. Probably still have it in some box in the attic.
Pull it out. It doesn't belong in the attic.

The best version by far. The digitally remastered version on Spotify just sucks. Doesn't come anywhere close to this masterpiece
That's because if you can't do it better, you don't do it.
Another great song by Frijid Pink---
They were on the scene around that time. They would often be on the same gigs, but they were co-stars. But now I must confess
That only in your living arms

Yes it's taken quite a while
To show you how I feel

My love for you was real
God gave me love
God gave me you, girl
God gave me love
God gave me you, girl
God gave me love
God gave me you, girl
God gave me love
God gave me you, girl
Perhaps I've lingered over time
It may be just too late
You may have chosen someone else
More suited to your taste
God gave me love
God gave me you, girl
God gave me love
God gave me you, girl
God gave me love
God gave me you, girl
God gave me love
God gave me you, girl
But if I have only one chance
What I hope will be
Let God perform a miracle
Of giving, of giving you to me
God gave me love
God gave me you, girl
God gave me love
God gave me you, girl
God gave me love
God gave me you, girl
God gave me love
God gave me you, girl

They played at my high school. So did the Amboy Dukes, Bob Seger, MC5 and others. I'm almost 68 (10 more days?) and still rocking.
