Really great interview! I'm 100% agree,about the part where he says that they searched for different kind of voice,so the new singer won't be just a cheap copycat of Tarja.That's very wise decision,and I think,they picked a good one.

Well it's just weird, 'cause I'm trying to get into a music school right now at a lowly community college, and they're telling me that I have to already know how to read standard notation before I can even get in. So I just kinda had this idea that after all the time he spent studying, Tuomas would be able to read music better than words. And Lapsellinen, did you even watch the video before posting that?

thats the same way hans zimmer does his work it's just that hans zimmer does it in two computers one is to is to make his song ideas the other one put the notes automaticly then he gives the notes to the orchestral kindda like that but tuomas is my idol i think he's one of the best compositors in the wolrd

the amarath vocalist sounds more like a pop singer , which makes nightwish sound pretty bland and uninteresting. and the music too is more pop.. Amarath against something like the kinslayer or wanderlust sounds .. Nightwish to me was like going into something like an elven adventure land music with hard metal elements. And Tarja even had that exotic dark look with her bone structure and all that added to it. like the soundtrack to a fantasy image . now it takes me more into pop chart music

Reading & Notating are very different things ... particularly a lot of metal is tricky to notate due to the constant metric changes
