Sooo……. My identical bike is named Jimmy, and yours is Dean…….quite a coincidence. 😉. I’d send you some pics if you like. Jimmy has the windshield and original bags on him. Quite a treat to see another just like mine👍🏻
Maybe just me but I always fill the low side (left) first and put the cap on. That way the gas doesn't run out when I fill the high side. But then my 98 Fatboy leans pretty far on the stand. The bike has been lowered so I am pretty sure somebody has changed the stand. My bars were tweaked when I bought the bike and they got tweaked even more when I hit a deer. I got them bent back to where they were but didn't want to press my luck. They bolt directly to the triple tree and I didn't want to chance snapping the bolts. We both have flaws, but what don't kill you makes for good stories. PS You don't want the vented cap on the low side. It's kinda idiot proof but you don't want to mix the caps up when gassing up.
Good to read your story on the 98 FB and thanks for the tip. My wife had a 98 Fat boy and loved it. It was born black but got send back to HD and repainted purple and pearl color special order from HD also had heritage style front fender with no badge from HD and huge Iron Bags you really put a lot in them and was a beautiful bike. I miss that bike and regret getting ride of her, her name was Pearl.......Peace. ruclips.net/channel/UCI1aSvAvsvA_2GqWSpEgV-g
@@desertdogsgaragemetalworks3843 That Fatboy looked pretty nice. It looked like you swopped out the Fatboy tin for Heritage tin. And with the driving light bar it looked like a Heritage. My Fatboy looks a lot like a Heritage as well but still have the Fatboy fenders. The original owner was a lady that made many changes and add ones to the bike. Like the light bar and nacelle headlight and relocated blinkers front and back. She sold it to a guy for his wife. She tipped it over and got scared of it. And he sold it to me with only about 8,650 miles on it. I put a Heritage sissy bar, luggage rack and back seat on it. I also installed Heritage saddle bags from the early 2000s but had to make them fit. It was a sad day when I hit a deer. I bought it back from the insurance co. I was going to paint it candy apple red but it turned into an Ultra Classic. Life sure is funny sometimes. Now they sit side by side and that evo isn't going anywhere unless I am on it. But choice is good, sometimes you feel like a nut sometimes you don't.
@@roblow5522 The fat boy was born black and the the dealer sent it back to Harley Davidson for the customer that purchased it for purple and pearl paint and front heritage fender. It was all Harley Davidson work. Was a one of a kind.
@@rudyverwilt9992 So you can not mix them up. If they were the same right thread and you put the vented one on the side the jiffy stand is on when when you park the bike with a full tank your fuel would leak out of the cap.
There is a clamp that squeezes the front tire so it don't fall. I only use that method when I first pull on the lift after It is on the lift I use either ratchet straps or motorcycle tie downs from the handle bars to the platform on the lift. I don't use the jiffy stand on the lift. Hope this helps.

I have the same bike named sausage, weird huh?
One cap is vented,so it pulls gas into the left tank.
Thank you.

The right cap is vented and the left is not. This keeps gas from running out when the bike is on the jiffy stand.
Thank You.
That doesn't explain why the right side is right treaded andthe left side left treaded. Why is that?
So you don't mix the caps up
